The proper definition of an agnostic is: a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena. First I thought, maybe this person simply does not know God themselves, but does not deny that it is perhaps possible for others to know Him? But the reality is, agnostics really deny the existence of God, which is not much different than what an atheist does, with the added part about how nobody can know God. So at first glance an agnostic might look like a soft atheist, but that is not accurate, really. Calling themselves a semi agnostic does give the impression that they may not be as hostile toward religion in general and Christianity in particular as others. Let us hope that is the case, and they undertake an earnest search for truth.
