But the theme of this thread sounds very open for any view.
I enjoy speaking about the wonderful things of our Lord and Savior with you, Aidan. I am glad you are here with us.

Then you should put on your ignore list:)
No, you need genuine repentance for seeking to always argue and you have still not put forth any Scripture in a worthy manner of a a true Child of God.

You elevate yourself above Scripture with your comments instead of seeking Truth - evidence Post 235
Your intellect is not the source of Truth.

The Lord said His word is Truth and by His Word we are Sanctified.

Now you attack this Thread by saying: "But the theme of this thread sounds very open for any view."
Which is a complete corruption of the OP where it clearly states PROVE FROM SCRIPTURE.

I asked yo numerous times to address the OP and start there - you never have - you want to argue your opinion.

That really does show everyone who reads it the condition of your faith.
Living to yourself and in no wise walking in humility while becoming conformed to the image of the Son as required of His own.

You are very unbiblical and anti-Holy Spirit.

You have not even attempted to search the Scripture for Truth - rambling on and on of non biblical events.
Again, what is unbiblical and anti Holy Spirit?
That I dont believe man made doctrines?

You never could proof from the scripture that the doctrine of baptism with the Holy Spirit and the sign of this is the gift of speaking in tongues is taught in the bible to the believers. This is what I statet. In his letter to the Romans Paul not even mentioned the gift of speaking in tongues.
Acts was finnished suposly short before Pauls death in 68. In this time it was taught to no believers, because first it was adressed to Theophilus.
If you read 1.Cor. you will Note that in this church was speaking in toungues obviously overemphasised. Otherwise Paul had no need to correct the Corinthians.
And you cant find this teaching in the churchhistory too. None of the churchfathers or the Reformators which renewed the focus on the word of God taught that speaking in tongues is the sign that someone has received the Holy Spirit.
Nowhere I have said that God is not healing or doing miracles today or that the gifts ceased, except the So called sign gifts.
That they stopped in the church is obvious.
Because as believers we dont need signs.

The OP theme is saying nothing about the view of the creator of this thread. Is he pro or contra? Thats open from the OP Name!
I gave you scripture. If you ignore it is your buissiness.

What we have here.....

2 Timothy 3:4 Context

1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Agreed. But that is not how the OP is presented. Here's the opening paragraph:

"Preacher John McArthur, Baptists, Dispensation and others had declared that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, most especially speaking in Tongues, had CEASED with the departure of the Apostles."

There are about twenty spiritual gifts recorded in Scripture, but it seems tongues and healings get all the attention. Why? Does the flesh delight in a "show" of spirituality?
Those who state that the gift of tongues ceased are often responding to the overemphasis of some by Pentecostals. There are many Baptists who are also Charismatic. I have noticed that speaking in tongues in meetings is rare, at least in the circles that I move in. I'm glad. Tongues is for the edification of the individual, unless it is tongues with an interpretation.

It seems to me that the gifts of the Spirit manifest according to the spiritual condition of the church. John Wesley said much the same thing. I've observed a decline in the condition of the church since the 1970's when I was saved. No, it was not my fault! (j/k) I'm not surprised that the spiritual gifts are under attack.

You also lied in your post.

You do not have the baptism of the Holy Spirit - you have another spirit that leads you.

And this is why i have said to you, back when i first met you, read study pray the Gospel of John that you may know the Truth.

YES Brother - satan fears the baptism of the Holy Spirit in a Believer far more then the salvation of the Believer.

That devil has worked relentlessly in and thru christianity to diminish and get rid of HS7 from the midst of Christian Thought/Preaching/Teaching.

Dear Brother, the OP was in direct line with the vile statements of men like John McArthur and others who dare say that 'Speaking in Tongues is of the devil.

Tongues is the least of the Gifts yet God exalted it on the Ourpouring of His Holy Spirit for a very important reason(s).

Our LORD said this:
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
41“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
44“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Our LORD Loves the least of these His Brethren.

If i am the least because i have the Gift of Speaking in Tongues - then He loves me and has baptized me in the Holy Spirit.

Who is John McArthur or anyone else to exalt themselves over the Holy Spirit and the "least of these"...............

Heard a teaching of how Jesus prayed, He never bowed His head and closed His eyes, He always looked up and kept His eyes open, suppose it is time we do as well?

Shittim and you, both of you cant proof from the scripture that speaking in tongues is the sign that someone is baptised with the Holy Spirit was taught to other believers.
But you have no problem to call me unbiclical , Satan and liar.
Whom should I trust? You or the word of God?

We keep telling you to trust the Word of God but you keep arguing with Scripture and speaking from your own carnal intellect.

Nobody called you satan.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, was clearly demonstrated by the Father on Pentecost - read Acts ch1 & 2

Anybody who argues against that is speaking on their own accord and not by the Holy Spirit.
If we deny the Truth then we are not speaking Truth - are we...............

Then who is the accuser of the brethren? As Shittim called me. From the scripture is this title given to Satan. ( rev. 12,10)

I told you already for what Acts 2,8,20 and 19 stands. If you put your own thaughts in it for to defend your view. You can do. But you cant convince me that this is what the bible teaches. But I understand that you have to use the events according your view. Otherwise the whole doctrine would collaps.

Book of Acts tells in first line the beginning of the church and the spreading of the gospel. I you would be right, why such an important issue then never was taught to other believers in the NT as it is taught since 1900 from the pentecostal and later the charismatic movements?
If you could show me from the scripture I would believe you. But you cant.
