When we start to read the book of Job, it is said that he had everything and he believed in God. But he wasn’t only a believer. His faith was alive, it wasn’t only words, he offered sacrifices in case his children act against God, not only by doing something wrong but also by thinking wrong. It tells us a lot about what it means to have a strong relationship with God. According to God, there was no one like him on Earth regarding integrity and going away from badness. When we listen to the news, we must admit our society is completely at the opposite, getting away from goodness and looking for darkness, whatever people may try to do. Everything goes wrong. It doesn’t mean we don’t have to fight, on the contrary, but we need energy and a good example such as Job. To prove the rare relationship between God and Job, God lets Satan get rid of all Job’s belongings except Job himself. Then he lost everything (animals, servants, children). At the end of chapter one, Job expresses his pain but also his total respect for God.

What mystifies me about Job is how, though he was a believer, Satan was allowed to torment him. But Colossians 2:15 states that in Christ, the Devil is essentially defeated.

Colossians 2:15 NKJV - "Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it."

I have produced a lot of teaching that Satan cannot harm True Children of the Lord, but then we have the story of Job. I hate being wrong . . . but it seems that I might be.

What are your thoughts on this?

If God allows it, satan can harm us. We cannot be harmed in the next life though, and that is what counts.

Satan first got permission from the Lord...

Job 1:12
And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord. ~KJV

Job 2:6
And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. ~KJV

Job 2:10
10 He replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”
In all this, Job did not sin in what he said. ~NIV

The Book of Job shows me that Satan can't do anything without God's permission.

The Lord makes great points in his word...but sometimes they slip under our radar. :)
Yes. But I'm bummed. I'm not fond of the idea of being available to Satan. That brings me no comfort at all. :(

AND, it means that so much of my writings (and videos) are in error. Whew . . . discouraging. I'm questing whether or not I should write anything at all anymore. It is unacceptable for me to be wrong about the Lord's Truth.

Yes, you are most definitely wrong about this. Satan can -- and does -- harm the children of God daily, and God allows him to do so.

With Job, the lord already knew what the final outcome would be, just as the Lord knows the final outcome of the antichrist and Satan

We are so fortunate as humans to have grace which the angels do not

Questions: Why are you so eager to point out flaws? Why are you so ready to demean? Do you say what you say [because] of the Love of Christ within you?

Remember Daniel Chapter 3: 16-18 and the answer of the three Hebrews. In the history of mankind, many people died because of their faith. You can take different examples in the Bible, think about David, Solomon, Moses and so on. We are just human beings, we can try to do our best, we can die tomorrow. When we follow the Bible, it helps us to get principles to help us in life, but we can still be ill, we can still be depressed and sometimes because of depression, people can be completely lost and they may commit suicide. Job is a special case regarding the special relationship he had with God. He is a testimony against the Devil, showing that people can stay faithful whatever may happen. Job was not for sale. Sometimes people go away from God because of life but they may come back.

I've had a Damascus Road type of experience. I can't imagine ever turning away from Christ, nor can I imagine Paul ever turning away from Christ.

That said, Peter and Barnabas were pretty stinkin' close to doing just that!

Galatians 2:13-14 NLT - "As a result, other Jewish Christians followed Peter's hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. 14 When I saw that they were not following the truth of the gospel message, I said to Peter in front of all the others, "Since you, a Jew by birth, have discarded the Jewish laws and are living like a Gentile, why are you now trying to make these Gentiles follow the Jewish traditions?"

As Christians, we have to speak about God and the Bible, we have to exchange our thoughts, we can’t shut up. We all make mistakes and we learn by making mistakes. When we walk, we can fall but it’s not because we can fall that we won’t walk. It’s only when we fall that we learn to be more careful. When we make mistakes, we go forward. The beginning of wisdom is when we accept the fact that we can make mistakes.

The story of job tells me that our faith should be more than a testamony of are present circumstances and surroundings.
As job said he gives and he takes but blessed be his name...how profound.
The one thing that satan could never take away from job is his belief and devotion to the Holy one .
Jesus should be our great reward no matter what the temperal may bring.
Measure your faith in God according to jobs. Where and when would you quit? Be honest.
When seeking answers from God he only got more questions. Who should counsel the Lord.
We may not have all the answers to every question but we must trust the Lord.
If we believe that this earth is not our home, that we are pilgrims on a journey through this world is that just lip service?
As paul said it is a terrible and frightful thing to be in the hands of the almighty.
Job said he has no advocate to plea his case....how sad ...how terrible...but yet we do...praise God for his son jesus.
There are many things to meditate about on this story. It's one that should make us examine ourselves our motives, our devotion, our weaknesses. And give thanks for God's mercy and faithfulness to us.
