Watching The UFC - Is It Wrong?

Is Watching the UFC "Good" or "Bad"?

There is one "rule" in this thread, and it is that we would come together and offer our ideas. We do not belittle or berate. In this thread, we must talk to one another with the Love of Christ within our hearts.

So, I've been watching the UFC for over twenty years. I know these people . . . I have "relationships" with them in my mind. I remember many of them before they had children. You get my "drift."

Honestly, I hate violence. I can't stand seeing anyone be hurt . . . especially the broken legs and some of the extreme beatings that take place. My heart is so sensitive that it pains me deeply to see people suffer. In my last relationship, my girlfriend would even laugh as she saw some people be smashed into oblivion. And even though I, too, was rooting against the same person, I didn't want to see "him" get hurt. I think I even said something like, "It isn't funny." Frankly, I was disgusted that she could laugh at another human be beating into a bloody pulp.

I know that one day I'm going to have to stop watching this sport, but again, I [KNOW] these people (as best I can without having met or spoken with them.)

What do you think? Is it time for me to quit watching this sport . . . or not?

Boxing or mixed martial arts in competition is not good or bad. It is amoral. Neither or.

In this context the fighters are volunteering. They are not forced and the arena is well regulated for the fighters safety. A lot safer than my childhood smackdowns in the backyard (it is amazing we all survived).

In context these are not fights that disrupt the peace but fights as a sport and how the athletes make a living.

No different than football, hockey, or any other contact sports.

I’ve always had the same question in mind although I don’t watch it. What Roughsoul1991 said does make sense.

As I think about Christ, and that we are to Love one another as Christ Loved us (He died for us), something in my bones struggles with these guys beating each other's brains out. People kicking each other in the face seems the opposite of all things Jesus.

Know what I mean?
 
About 2 weeks ago I made the statement to a Christian pastor
that we are required to be holy for it is a commandment of God.
(Because he was making excuses to me for why Christians commit sin. You know like all of you do on this forum)

And he asked me to define unholy?

I said you should not be allowed to be a pastor.

Christians have no shame anymore.
Nor do their conscious bother them when they do wrong before the living God.

Well, remember there is sin based on conscience as well. If it feels wrong to you, then it is. But that is in the realm of keeping it between you and God.

They are also not literally beating their brains out; no more better or worse than football collisions that lead to brain problems.

It comes down to motive. Why are they fighting? For power? Greed? Fame? Anger? Security? Or sustainability? If these can be answered, then you can say something is immoral.

Paul used a boxing analogy from the athletes of Rome to show the imagery of how we are to train or faith, just like the boxers of today.

Take your ufc fighter and imagine if we as Christians trained as hard as they do to win a perishable belt while we look to win a eternal crown of salvation.

It is all sin. it is not of God. And you know it.
And it matters not the motive.

It is not of God or His Kingdom. And all of you know it.

When you are around those who are weak, do you become weak with them (so that you might win some?) In other words, are you gentle with those who need your gentleness? Or, do you ever find yourself to be pushy and, let's say, self-righteous?

Listen up, there is no excuse for being weak. I know for a fact, firsthand that there is no weakness walking in Christ.
NONE NONE WHATSOEVER NO MATTER WHAT.

There is no such thing as winning someone to Christ
For Jesus stated all that come to Him is drawn by His Father.
If God is not drawing them to Christ, there is nothing you can say or do to do anything about it.

And when someone tells me they are weak I say that is because you are not in the Spirit of Christ
for in the Spirit of Christ you can do all things.

That means overcome all your sins and cease from doing them.

If this was not true I would not say it was true.

So no I except no excuse for not walking in Christ.

Either you love Jesus or you do not.

I once had a friend that said things like this. He used to say, "What I say has been established by the Lord." Did you notice that I said I "once had a friend"? That was my best friend of 35 years . . . those words disgusted me and we're no longer friends much, much because of that wild idea.
