The only way you can ever get the power of the Holy Ghost
is to walk in Holiness unto the Lord. There is no other way.
You do not even know what is holiness.

And when I say walk in Holiness unto the Lord
I don't mean for one day I mean all the time
from dawn to dusk every day. God being the only thing in your life
all the time.
I agree...and that is what I do.

Magenta, your brethren that post on here is dying of a sickness and has to have treatments.
If you have the power of the the Holy Ghost you can speak the word and heal her.

Go for it.
I know you can't do it because you do not have the power of the Holy Ghost.

I say you do not have the power to heal anyone.
I know you don't.
I will pray for her.

If she is healed through my prayers, I assume that you will then acknowledge that I have the power of the Holy Ghost.

I will say this.....even if she is not healed through my prayers, that does not mean that I do not have the power of the Holy Ghost...it merely means that I do not have the gifts of healing.

1Co 12:29, Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
1Co 12:30, Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
1Co 12:31, But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

I know that I definitely have the gift of tongues...

I could say that if you don't, that that means that you don't have the power of the Holy Ghost.

According to the scripture above, would that reasoning be valid?

Because it might be valid according to the scripture below.

Mar 16:17, And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18, They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

After you pray and she is yet to receive her healing doesn't necessarily mean you don't have the gift of healing also .. Some healings are not received because of unbelief . unbelief of the one laying hands or the one to receive the healing . . anything asked in Jesus name is given to the believer.

btw, it would be an exceptional faith (like the Centurion's) that would be able to apprehend the healing of Jesus from afar apart from the laying on of hands.

I have heard a rebuttal of this, that unbelief cannot stop the power of God. If it could, none of us are saved, we were all in unbelief before His power moved on us to save us, to be drawn to salvation by His goodness.

Mar 6:6, And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

Matthew 17:16-20 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Matthew 13:57-58 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Hebrews 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief

Still... He healed! Even after "wondering at their unbelief". So unbelief was not a barrier to His healing, it was a failure to receive it down here,
best wishes

The disciples could not heal the young boy who had the epileptic demon because of their unbelief. It took Jesus to actually come and do the healing...and Jesus had to exhort the man to have faith in the power of God (Mark 9:14-29)..

I can speak the word and heal her if I so desired. That which you cannot do in the Lord.

The Law of Sin and Death is not the Ten Commandments, Grandpa!

It is not being able to keep the Ten Commandments! That is what condemns man to death!

The actual Law is righteous and perfect.

Christ became the Second Adam to undo what the first Adam had done, separated us from God by sin.

We can not achieve the righteousness of the Law in our fallen state.

What Christ did for us, and by faith in Him, that righteousness demanded by God is freely given to us.
The Law of Sin and Death is the 10 commandments.

It shows your sin and condemns you to death.

It is BECAUSE it is righteous and perfect that it is the law of Sin and Death.

Romans 7:7-11
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Galatians 2:19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

How did you miss the following?

Rom 7:8, But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Rom 7:9, For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Rom 7:10, And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
Rom 7:11, For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
Rom 7:12, Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
Rom 7:13, Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

That which is good (the law, the ten commandments) did not become death unto Paul.

Rather, it was sin that produced death in Paul.

How then are the ten commandments the law of sin and death?

According to Romans 7:14, the problem is not with the law (the ten commandments) but with us.

The law of sin and death is defined in verse 21. It is the principle that when I would do good, evil is present with me.

You have again, truly, taken the scriptures out of context.
I just find it really strange that you quote scripture and don't understand any of it.

Then try to teach.

You don't even know what the law of sin and death is.

That which is good DID become death to Paul. Read again

Romans 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

The law of sin and death is the 10 commandments. The 10 commandments are the subject of Romans 7 and called the law of sin and death (OBVIOUSLY) in Romans 8.

How is this even an argument? Just because you WISH scripture wasn't scripture???

No, we are not following the Law in any way, remember that Christ fulfilled the Law for us.

By faith in Him we are given the righteousness that God demands but not of our own doing.

This is His Grace toward us, we are not righteous but He gives us that righteousness by faith in Christ.

Then our sanctification begins, the Holy Spirit begins to bring us up the position of our God-given righteousness.

Of course we will not reach the position of perfection in this life that God sees in us through faith in Christ.

We receive this perfection at the resurrection.

As far as the Law, we are aware of the Ten Commandments in this life, but we know we can't keep them perfectly.

This is where we die to self every day, we can't live the perfect Law, but Christ can live it through us.

We will still fail, but it is Christ that is fulfilling the righteousness of the Law in us.

It is total surrender to Christ and faith in Him that allows Him to live through us.

We will not be perfect in this life, but God doesn't expect perfection, He expects us to believe and surrender to Christ.
I hate to say it. But this post of yours does nit sound a thing like JBF. With the exception of the ten commands statement. Which one can’t fathom why you would say it, I pretty much agree here

Your right. The HS will sanctify us. As you said not to perfection. But he will work on us. We will never be like we were before. We are new creatures sealed by his spirit.

Then again it bears the question of why you do not believe in eternal security if as you say the HS will do what he was sent to do

Let me make it clear right here so there is no misunderstanding that Charlie is preaching righteousness to the lowly crowd here on CC.

I have not reached the center of God's will in my life, I have known sin, in other words I am practicing sin in my life.

It is a constant sorrow in my life that I can't quit smoking cigarettes, I have not given it to Christ, it is shameful to admit this.

The reason I have told this is because I don't want anyone to think I am righteous over you by my posts. I am not, I'm a sinner saved by grace, a work in progress!
I just quite smoking 6 years ago. Keep praying. It took me many years to give up the addiction I still crave them from time to time

Paul told us plainly that he had not attained perfection, meaning he had not become sinless.

If the great apostle couldn't do it, there is not a chance any of us can!

Phil. 3:12

"Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus."

There is no such thing as sinless perfection in this life, but we can reach the goal of no know sin in our lives.
Amen
this is why perfect sanctification (also known as glorification) will not happen in this lifetime
but justification (positional sanctification) has. For by one offering he perfected forever,,,,

We only have a down-payment on our salvation in this life, that is the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Our salvation is not complete until the resurrection, that is when we will become sinless.

Anyone who claims sinless perfection in this life is only fooling himself.
Agree. But we have perfect justification in this lifetime. My salvation is not in question it is assured.

The Bible says

I have been saved (from the penalty of sin

I am being saved from the power of sin

And I will be saved from the ability to sin

Paul said that "sin shall not have dominion over you." Sin has total dominion over the unbeliever, but not the believer.

We can be perfected as in progression, but not perfect in any way until the resurrection.

But we are perfect in the sight of God by faith in Christ, it is His righteousness that God sees and we are in Christ.
He sees the blood of his son. As taught in the law when the priest sprinkled the blood in the mercy seat. The cherub could not see the charges brought against us (the commands written on stone. The manna and Arron’s rod that budded. What he saw was the blood.
It would be like we stood before a judge. And a book of the law was brought out to expose all I was charged with and when he opened the book every page was covered by blood and the commands which were against me and contrary to me were painted over. I would be let free because even though I am guilty. The charges against me were covered

Col 2 is an example of this. Jesus took those charges and mailed them to the cross. In the spiritual circumcision/Baptism performed on me by the hand of God. Who raised Christ from the dead (the HS)
