So I finally fully quit Facebook

The hatred of the enemy runs deeply in the veins of many who control our access to others over the internet. Rather than debate, they choose to erase us. Cancel us. Rather than support Free Speech, they block anyone who does not agree with their own beliefs.

I, along with many, am truly horrified at the direction of our beautiful country. I will not support Facebook, Twitter, or any other platform that is manipulating the minds of innocents.

I can--and did--unFriend everyone except my family. I unFollowed those I love but don't agree with. I got rid of all my Groups except for one. However ... I kept feeling such deep Conviction in my Spirit that these places were no place for me to be supporting with my presence.

So I left.

We all have the right to vote with our pocketbook. Seems like you took a stand against a company you don't want to support. Good for you. I think when enough people choose to boycott a company and their bottom line is affected they will reconsider their methods of doing business.

I deleted TV and Movies years ago. I don't keep up with any popular media. I believe I have a purer mind as a result. The less entertainment videos you soak up the less empty vain videos you have replaying in your head.

I tried to ignore them. It felt so wrong.

The last straw came with a Lesbian posting a picture of herself ... Clearly drunk, with her lesbian "husband", and her barely covered body hanging out in our faces. Disgusting.

I do not believe that our Lord wants us to spend so much time with unrepentant sinners.

Although it grieved me to leave my friends ... And miss those precious pictures of my grandchildren ... I deleted my Facebook account forever.

I've been a member here at CC since February. I've lurked some, but not really spent too much time here. I decided that although I feel a bit shy coming in as an unknown, I'm going to jump in and play. I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all.

I really believe Facebook is a wicked place. I am done with them.

Actually I have noticed something peculiar about my family: almost all of them have facebook, but none of them have complained about this.

I know the problem exists in facebook. I have heard stories from too many other sources to discount it as rumor. But either my family is not seeing it in their friends lists or they just don't complain about it.

I don't have Facebook myself so there is no feasible way for me to tell definitively which it is. One thing I do know though: either they have been very careful about who they put on their friends lists or they will soon quit Facebook.

From what I know of them though, I think it's the former. I think they have just been very careful who they put on their friends lists.

The only way to decide if FB was right or wrong about deleting a post is to examine the post in question.

Some posts could result in someone believing it and dying.

I personally do not think that Trump should run for president again, I think he is not the best choice, there has got to be someone better than him for 2024, but he should not be banned from FB. That was not a good call on FB part.

That sort of thing is enough to make one want to delete FB.

The power of "following a crowd to do evil" is happening from social media platforms like FB. But people are going to do that anyway. Through all kinds of media and from public school systems.

Most churches are using FB as their method of church communication and recorded sermons. It is still the number one public platform for online evangelism of your community. People are going to look at your church's Facebook site more than your church's website for getting an idea about what you preach and what your church culture is like.

If your heart is set on reaching the lost in your community FB is one of many tools to help you advertise your presence. It does not replace other methods like direct mail or community events but it would be a bad idea to ignore it if you were trying to reach a community. Face to Face speaking to people the Gospel is the method God has chosen which will never be replaced by internet methods but these things are not going away and we must learn to navigate through the imperfections of these platforms just as we do in every other area of this world.

Trump probably made some offensive comments which was why he got banned.
The same with twitter, which is notorious for cyber bullying...there have been quite a few cases of people actually comitting suicide frome the mean words they had been receiving.

in nz, some groups for example had been posting pictures and videos of RAPE and MURDER on FB, and encoruaging others to share it with their 'friends' for who knows what reason. Not to mention PORN.

Its very easy for a site like that to become toxic if just one person starts acting up on it.

Random FB church groups havent been that much of a success, Its only if you already know people that go to that church that it can work as a social network.

People still go to church websites, having a page on FB doesnt really pull people unless they spend all their waking hours on it. I think just as with anything, the novelty of it soon wears off.

in terms of evangelism, sure it can be a way of reaching people but you may be scattering your seeds on thin ground. Facebook wont replace the Bible, but people seem unduly influenced by it...as if it were really the Lambs book of Life.

However, the difference between that and FB is that the lambs book of life doesnt record all your bad deeds, sarcasm and rants....only your good deeds and kind words. Love keeps no record of wrongs.

I do not mind facebook,but then again it is in moderation. God leads it on my heart for some to be there for a short time. But have noticed when he leads it on my heart to part ways I understand. But we are to reach out to the sinners and some will not step into a church. But God can share his light thru facebook. Since I have started facebook years back I have seen many turn to the Lord and are very blessed by my page. But if it steals my joy or peace I would be done. So I understand why you don't want to be on there anymore. For myself it is a way to share God's joy and love.

I logged into Facebook after a long time, mostly to wish a few people Happy New Year. I think this year, I will remove Facebook for good. Over half my newsfeed consists of advertisments. The people with whom I communicate with once in awhile and would like to keep in touch, I'll make sure to add them to LinkedIn or get their personal contact. Also, I'm sending them my contact information individually on FB, in the event I delete Facebook sooner than they respond.

I mostly use FB to share photos. Is there another site I could use and share, without the other person having to join and create a profile?

instagram? used mainly for photos or pinterest.

Otherwise, just create a blog..tumblr if its just pics.
Theres also padlet. Dont need to log in or create profiles to share.

whats app is ok if just want to message. You can send photos on that as well.
