Psalm2713

The Bible says we should do everything for the glory of God, use everything for the glory of God, including our singleness. I have been on the singles Forum long enough to notice we are all sooo distracted. While we should be asking each other about Glorifying God in our singleness we have been constantly looking for ways out of our singleness.

I have been hoping to see us encouraging each other in seeking to glorify God above all else, especially with this gift of singleness, bestowed unto us. It would be good to see the active users of the singles forum take part in the Bible forum as well, I highly recommend the Bible forum. ;-)

I pray that we may fully use the gift of singleness today, for the Glory of God.

You are welcome to share how God has used your singleness for His glory here, I would appreciate it.

I think one of the reasons is that I am still single, among others, is that I don't want to get involved with a woman in anyway that is going to be a distraction from God. Maybe God has played a role in keeping me single because He knows that would be exactly what happened.

If I had spent as much time in my life completely devoted to glorifying God as I have spent in it being distracted from God in the past, I would have avoided much of the hardships that I have faced in my lifetime. Yet, God has still used these things for His glory, a testimony to Him. I also wouldn't be the person I am today if I had not faced those things.

I do see singleness as a gift from God, while I have given God glory for being single, it hasn't been my main focus. Thanks for this post Psalm2713. GLORY BE TO GOD!

It does give me more time to devote to prayer, music ministry, Bible study and writing letters/sending cards of encouragement to people. Like Seoulsearch said in another thread, I think this is a time when God is doing a work in us to prepare us for things to come, whether that's marriage or something else.

I have to be honest here and i think singleness is something that i have to live now, sometimes i feel good and sometimes i feel lonely but i have seen it all the time as an experience that i didnt choose but i accept from God so im not very sure on how i can honor God with my singleness

Giving thanks to God in all things, including our singleness. Honoring God in our singleness is respecting the fact that we are single and that if it is God's will, then it is what we also want, striving to be in the will of God.

But i dont think giving thanks to God in all things is honor him because we are single

I think that it is hard for some people to find their place in the kingdom as a single because many things are geared toward family.

I know this has been true for me so the only things I do for church and service right now is just help setting up for events or just random stuff. I would like to do more but often when it comes to churches most activities and things are family oriented. I am left out. I am single with no children, and I have nothing to do with alot of the programs.

It almost makes you feel alienated. Like you are not important or cannot add to the group. But within the last several months I have been increasingly content and satisfied with my singleness. I still want a husband and children but at the same time I am realizing what things I can do for God now.

I think it is a process. You cant really force someone into focusing on God and forgetting about their singleness. They have to come to that place where they are okay with it before they realize what God wants them to do now.

I need to honor God more in everything I do. Psalm2713 is right that the scripture says to do everything for the glory of God. Whenever we undertake a task whether it be trivial or important, we should try our best to do a good job not for ourselves or even for our bosses, but for God. It may sound silly to maybe do some housecleaning in a way that honors God but I think that is what God wants us to do.

I used to work someplace where they took employees' needs for granted and it made it difficult for us to do our work but I continued to strive to do good work even though I didn't like working for that company. I wrote this down where I could see it everyday at work: DE4TGOG. It was short for "Do Everything 4 The Glory of GOD" and it reminded me that I am working for the Lord above all else.

The way I see it, there are so many similarities btn honoring God in singleness and in marriage. e.g when married people talk about getting to know their spouses better, single have an advantage because then they talk about knowing God better. God demands purity out of both married and single people.

So basically just like married people need to serve, love and submit to God and their spouses single people have commit all their love, service and submission to God and in some cases parents.

How people honor God in their singleness would determine how they would honor God in marriage, I think. If I can't wake up to pray in singleness, I may have a hard time waking up to pray when married,

Hope that's helpful. Does anyone else have another answer to "how to honor God in singleness"?

It's okay to be alienated by some groups- afterall we can't belong to every group just like married people don't belong to this forum.
this is prbably a ridiculous exapmle but hey I am happy I can't attend the guys' small group meeting and I am sure they are happy not to attend to the Ladies' group...lol
Hope that makes sense...

I am not sayiing that you should be long to every group, but many times singles have no group at all. My church just started a singles group this past February. The church I went to before didnt have one at all.

I have felt the same thing that you say, in the last church that i used to go, there were only families and children but not singles so i was all the time like out of place, i used to feel very uncomfortable because they always talked about families, all the activities were for families and all the time all ppl were focused on families and not singles.
In the church that im now is very different, it isnt an special group of singles yet but there are all kind of ppl so i can relate more in the activities they do.
