Forgiveness, a part of sanctification of the soul, is, in my humble opinion, a process.
As I understand it, when I first believed, my spirit was instantly reborn because it was legally cleared to be,
Justification. A legal standing. Amen

The sermon on the mount is not a sermon to tell us how to live, it was a sermon to tell us how sinful we are. A d how if we try to live by the letter of the command, or the law. how we miss the point that we are still sinners. Because overt sins start with mental attitude sins, which are not condemned by the law

The sermon on the mount jesus gave is Gods standard

Be perfect.

Non of us live up to that standard. That fact should get us to repent and keep looking to Christ look to serve and not be served, and stop trying to live up to a standard we can’t live up to. (Self willed thinking ) and start thinking instead of giving out what God gives us
Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

This is the first statement from the Lord in His Sermon on the mount.

This is the passion translation;

Matthew 5:3 “What happiness comes to you[b] when you feel your spiritual poverty![c] For yours is the realm of heaven’s kingdom.

That's not instruction.

Compare with;

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I suppose legalists will never get it. The way to be blessed, the way to Righteousness, the way to Joy, Peace, Justification, Sanctification, is all in Christ. His Strength is made perfect in our weakness.

Not in following instructions on how to obey the law.

It was eye opening when I was first told what the word poor there truly meant. I like spiritual poverty also. To be spiritually bankrupt is what Jesus first told us. If we want to enter in. This is what the law was supposed to do to the jews. Have them spiritually bankrupt, devoid of any life and hopeless for when the messiah came.

If they plowed the law to do what it was supposed to do. They would have seen Jesus and would have recieved him with open arms.

but no, they took the law. Watered it down, Lied to themselves that they were able to keep it and were righteous because of it. And when christ came and told them what the law told them, they rebelled and crucified him.

How many of these lawyers who claim to love christ would do the same if he came today?

Okay, to continue…

So who is THE AUTHOR of the Bible? The author is the living Almighty God. We read the books of Moses, David, Solomon, Micah, Amos, Hosea, and others in the Old Testament; as we continue on, we come to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, as well as Paul, Peter, James, and many others in the New Testament. But do these men claim shared authorship? No, no, no. Each letter was written by the finger of God, and each line was spoken by the Holy Spirit.

You lawyers keep thinking the law is the standard. The only thing the law can do is curse you where you stand. Jesus told the people to stop following these lawyers. And follow Christ.

Jesus did not come to cast away the law he came to fulfill it, COmplete it. Bring it to its conclusion.

He did that. )
AS Jesus pointed out, the Pharisees did NOT keep the law. The word law is an incomplete translation of the original word, that originated in the word Torah that even the Greek word used was incomplete. The meaning of Torah included guidance as a loving Father guides. The Pharisees obeyed the rules of the Torah without the meaning of the law for true law always included love. They even put on sackcloth and long faces, parading up and down to make people think they were praying and called it obedience. As the Lord pointed out when asked what was the most important law, it is love and it IS a standard.

You explain how Christ fulfilled the law, and then you added something to scripture that is NOT there, you said Christ brought it to a conclusion. When something is fulfilled and made complete, it is now ready for full use, as scripture tells us. If it was concluded it would be tossed out and of no use any more, as you have added to scripture. It is like doing away with the love and guidance of a loving Father.

How refreshing to read truth about scripture.

To often people read a spiritual book as a fleshly novel so they ballyhoo about anything they say is God speaking against God, that the ways of God is not eternal. When it is read as holy scripture by a God of the spirit you see the spirit of the text, the sameness of the messages from God. God spoke to us through the flesh in the old testament. The eternal law was given in stone. The command to mark ourselves as belonging to God was given by cutting flesh. As examples. Then God spoke to us heart to heart. The message is always the same. the delivery was different. We are not to read the OT messages with a blind eye to the spiritual, but with our eyes now open.

You do not either. Thats the point Jesus was tryign to make. You can not keep the law. Unless you like the pharisee water down the law

I think jesus is clear what law he is talking about

the law says do not murder, do not commit adultry. Etc etc

You can deny it all you want. Jesus is talking ab out the moral law given to moses. Or as paul called it the ministry of death written in stone.

You explain how Christ fulfilled the law, and then you added something to scripture that is NOT there, you said Christ brought it to a conclusion. I am sorry it is so hard for you to understand that Jesus spoke of how even keeping the letter of the law was Not enough. Ithe law says …… But I tell you ……

The law is not met to sanctify you or teach you how to live, it is meant to teach you how spiritually bankrupt you are.

I have not added anythign to scripture. I just told you what Jesus said. Your argument is with him not me

Be perfect. Like your father is perfect.

There is the standard.

Last I ready everyone in this room has failed to keep that standard. Plan A is not in the books for any of us, We must go to plan B

The law showed us what Plan B is also. Go back and read the law concerning the day of atonement. And how many creatures had to die for their sins to be forgiven.

If they even attempted to enter the holy place without sacrfrifice or on any other dat than what God allowed. They will killed.

As paul said, desiring to be teachers of the law. You understand nothign about the law.

You may know words. But you do not have comprehension of meaning.

So we cannot keep the law. Does that mean we are to tell the Lord to get out of our lives and heart, Christ in our hearts brings this law you are so against.

Our heavenly Gather gave Christ to us because we cannot keep the law, Christ fixes that for us.
Christ makes it so it as if we keep the law and we are to accept that, not yell and scream about how we still are before Christ took away our sin. We are to accept the righteousness through Chris offered, and you keep insisting on your own righteousness---except for you it a preaching to keep your sin just tell Christ you are sinful. Christ knows you are sinful, that is why God sent Him to take care of that for you and you keep refusing to accept what Christ wants to give you.

smh, Your the one who is against the law my friend. Not me.

The law did what it was supposed to do in me, Now instead of puffing myself up and telling everyone how good and righteous I am, i instead focus on loving and serving others.

I am not refusing anything YOU ARE

You are refusing what the law is about. And what it is that Christ wants us to do

You want everyone to go back to the law. And try to follow the law when the law was NOT MADE TO BE FOLLOWED.

The law can not help you maam. The law can only hurt you

If your in christ and you keep going to the law. You are hurt because you have no capability to grow in christ. Your to stuck on self. And not on others.

You truly do not any sense at all with this agenda against anything God tells you. You brag about how great you are to ignore the law, refusing to accept God working in you and say that isn't puffing yourself up. To not do this bragging about how you are so right to not follow Christ you would need to give up following your own idea of righteousness and accept the righteousness of Christ within you. Christ did not sin.

You would not need to be sin free, but you would need to repent of sin and that means you would need to want to be sin free. You keep on with accepting sin within you, and then bragging how that is such a righteous thing to do and how much better your way is than following Christ.

I do not think this discussion is a good thing any more. We must live our lives as God opens the way for us and they are opposite.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord make his face shine on you and give you peace.

And here you are breaking the command that says thou shalt not bear false witness.

I pray you have a lamb without spot to sacrifice for that sin

You brag about how great you are to ignore the law, refusing to accept God working in you
No. God brags about working in me, Not me

and say that isn't puffing yourself up.
I am not going around telling people I keep the law. Thats you my friend.

To not do this bragging about how you are so right to not follow Christ you would need to give up following your own idea of righteousness and accept the righteousness of Christ within you. Christ did not sin.
I am following Christ my friend. You? Your following Moses.

You would not need to be sin free, but you would need to repent of sin and that means you would need to want to be sin free. You keep on with accepting sin within you, and then bragging how that is such a righteous thing to do and how much better your way is than following Christ.
I don;t except sin my friend, I just call sin sin. And I know how to look for it. I know what it is. You on the other hand? You limited. Because you limit it to a set of rules. And not what sin really is

I do not think this discussion is a good thing any more. We must live our lives as God opens the way for us and they are opposite.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord make his face shine on you and give you peace.
I will pray for you to find the true meaning of sin. And the true meaning and purpose of the law. Because believe you me, when you find it like I did. You will have a joy and rest you can not fathom at this time
