LOL, that is exactly what Paul explained to us! Don't judge anyone if they observe a day holy that you don't.

I have explained why I see that day holy but it seems you choose to judge me anyway.
Again, you did not read my post--THE Sabbath is different from a special Day or high holy day! You mistyped The Sabbath --the verse you quoted instead says, 'a' Sabbath'.

That is like saying Easter and Christmas are the same as THE SABBATH of the 10 Commandments. We aren't commemorating Christ's resurrection on THE Sabbath. We arent commemorating Christ's birth on the Sabbath. We are physically resting from our work just as God did from His. It is a gift and a blessing, not a burden.

"He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and shall think to change the times and the law;and they shall be given into his hand for a time, two times, and half a time."--Daniel 7:25

This IS what the Roman Catholic Church has done!

Jesus said not one jot or tittle would he remove from the law. And here in the above quoted verse I see one small, but very important mistake.

It says in the original verse 'A' Sabbath, not 'The' Sabbath day.

This is not referring to THE Sabbath Day of the 10 Commandments, but the special Sabbath days or High Holy Days.

I've written extensively on this on the 'Seventh Day Adventist are they a Cult?' Forum--I was not standing in support of SDA, but rather THE Sabbath Day as one of the 10 Commandments.

To say Jesus is our Sabbath rest and that we don't have to honor the 4th Commandment is essentially saying we don't have to keep the other 9! Jesus as our Sabbath rest is not giving us a physical day of rest--rather it is rest from the Works of the Law--it is a spiritual rest. Jesus as our Sabbath rest also speaks the heavenly kingdom where we will have our FINAL REST.

"For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."--1 John 5:3

The Sabbath is not only a day of rest, it is also a day when we remember and honor God's wondrous work of creation. If you read Acts it says 'as was Paul's custom' was at the synagogue on THE Sabbath Day. Both Jew and Gentile believers gathered on that day as an assembly at the synagogue. The believers also met together daily. Why don't we follow their custom instead of following the law that was instituted by Constantine and having Sunday, the first day of the week be our rest day instead of Saturday?

****************************An interesting fact--Saturday is called the Sabbath in a hundred other languages.**********************************

"If you love me, keep my commandments.--John 14:15

One thing I observe is that so often Christians simply parrot what they've been taught, and unlike the Bereans do not carefully study the matter for themselves.

I have always attended church on Sunday until I left the institutional church and began to study for myself--removing the lens of what I've been taught--and one of those things was the SABBATH. I could find nothing in Scripture that says we do not need to honor the Sabbath--it is still one of the 10 Commandments, written by the very finger of God in stone (which signifies perpetuity)--and it is not 'burdensome' as Jesus said, "The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.'

Dear Laura, you said "To say Jesus is our Sabbath rest and that we don't have to honor the 4th Commandment is essentially saying we don't have to keep the other 9! "
This is a false conclusion and not based on Truth but religion.

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His Work which God created and made.
Genesis 2:3

Christ fulfilled the Law for us for no man was able. Christ nailed the curse of the Law to the Cross - there it died with Christ.

We are not under the Law. The 7th Day of God's REST is now, and always was, in a PERSON - His SON, the LORD Himself.

We had to wait for His Son to come and fulfill the 7th Day of Rest for us.

Not according to obeying do's and don'ts, but out of love for God.

Again, a response without really reading what I wrote--so you don't believe we need to listen to Jesus when he says "If you love me keep my Commandments?"

People often quote this verse,

"Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. 9 The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,”[a] and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b] 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law."--Romans 13:8-13

But understand love is a summation of the commandments -- it is not a replacement. If you believe you do not need to honor the 4th Commadment to remember the Sabbath--a day God gave us as a day of rest and to remember His finished work of Creation, then that means you believe you can do ALL of these things since the commandments in your eyes are abolished:

1. make a graven image
2. commit adultery
3. covet
4. use God's name in vain
5. steal
6. you can have other gods
7. you dont have to honor your father and mother
8. you can take the lords name in vain
9. you can kill

The day of the week sabbath under the Law has been removed from over us - AMEN
But we all missed it when HE said it - Read and find it the Gospel of John ch3
yes the day of rest was only an ot pattern given to Moses , for the true rest we have in Christ and the gospel of salvation and hope and comfort and peace between God and man

When man was lost and HE came to save us , because we were lost without hope so he our king and savior became our hope in the gospel.

A new way of life that is pleasing to God and doesn’t condemn the people from the start as “stiff necked sinners who will never repent “ but instead from the start is says “ God loves you because you have believed in me and know I am from him . I have come not to call the righteous but to call sinners to repentance “

everyone Jesus encountered even Peter was a sinner

“When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Or Paul

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭1:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

once your a sinner and break any commandment in the law you know are a sinner and sabbath breakers are commanded to be witnesses against and put to death once the person dies he isn’t then expected to observe the sabbath for eternity .

He’s dead to everything the law said now

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3, 11-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:1,4

Not picking up sticks on Sunday or Saturday is meaningless unless you use the stick for evil on any day

I agree

The point is that we can't keep the commandments, especially love thy neighbor as thyself.

Jesus fulfilled the Law for us that by faith in Him the commandments will be fulfilled in us.

Not by obeying do's and don'ts, but by faith.

I don't try to obey the commandments the way they under Law tried and failed.

I obey the commandments by allowing Christ to live through me, it's the only way!

But then I still fail at times! But by faith in Christ I am still justified in the sight of God.

It is the Holy Spirit working out our sanctification in us by faith, making us more and more Christlike.

Not according to obeying do's and don'ts, but out of love for God.

Where in anything I've written is remembering the Sabbath a DO or DON"T--it's so frustrating when people respond without reading what's been written!

So I guess then you believe killing and adultery and coveting are do's and don't too? You're not under the law and neither are other believers so they can just go ahead and go against all the other commandments ? The 10 commandments were written together on tablets of stone by God's own hand! That means they are a package deal--if you keep one then you are to keep all of them. As I believe I've said clearly--this has ZERO to do with salvation--that is a gift of God--our part is simply to repent and believe, it is now about our attitude--we OBEY out of LOVE, not to gain salvation!

Honestly, when I don't agree with a position on these forums, I feel like the blind man who had to keep repeating himself to the Pharisees....

Question: If a Christian works on Saturday, is he/she breaking God's Commandment of the Sabbath rest?
Jesus said, 'The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.' If a man must work on the Sabbath--that is he has a job that requires that, then God understands. However, should do our utmost to honor it as I see most Christians doing on Sunday--for example if we are self-employed or looking for work--should we do our best not to choose to work on that day if given the choice?

I understand there are Christians that must work on Sundays--those who work at restaurants, hotels or hospitals, as an example. But we should still find a way to honor it and remember it--you can rest on any other day, but that does not make it the Sabbath day.

It's not about the day we fellowship--I wish churches were open and available everyday for that--it's about commemorating God's finished work of creation AND that he instituted the 7th Day for us to REST.

My was point I have to keep repeating myself as no one is reading what I've written--you all keep making it out as if keeping the commandments is legalistic and then you call me a Pharisee---how is this Pharisical?

From my earlier post:

Yea I read your whole post there and don’t agree with your take . maybe others just don’t agree with you though that doesn’t make everyone a Pharisee and you a saved blind man that gets it .

just means people have different thoughts about it no real Offense to be had or taken

Your words Laura in post #36 - this is what i responded to.

I've written extensively on this on the 'Seventh Day Adventist are they a Cult?' Forum--I was not standing in support of SDA, but rather THE Sabbath Day as one of the 10 Commandments.

To say Jesus is our Sabbath rest and that we don't have to honor the 4th Commandment is essentially saying we don't have to keep the other - Laura Post #36

My Sister Laura, i am not saying this against you.
When we gather, the day does not matter to God, the heart does.
We gather not for a sabbath day but for the Sabbath Day, who is CHRIST our REST.
The REST is in Christ not the day of the week, which has no bearing to God's Righteousness.

All religions seek to establish their own righteousness - they all fail.

i loved what you said in this sentence: "The believers also met together daily. Why don't we follow their custom instead of following the law that was instituted by Constantine and having Sunday"

God is not interested in Saturday versus Sunday - has no merit in Christ but only in that Harlot = RCC.

Myself and other Blood washed Saints often work on Saturday and Sunday - no sin there for us who are in Christ.
