I shared the Gospel with a muslim a few days ago.. And he was offended that Jesus would need to be killed to pay the penalty for our sins.. To him it was a stumbling stone.. An injustice.. Also he could not fathom Jesus being one with the Father and the Holy Spirit.. I do think it all boils down to the concept of Atonement.. Someone paying the penalty for another persons transgressions.. Some people think it is foolishness and others are offended.. I have found that the ones who think it is foolishness are usually atheists and the ones that are offended are religious.. In this particular case it was a religious muslim..

I believe the deeper things of the LORD.. Deeper knowledge,, is blocked from those who reject the Atonement of the LORD.. I believe God foreknows who is accepting and who is rejecting His loving truth, the Way of salvation and these people are blocked from understanding great things..

When i first discovered the Gospel message and understood the wonderful loving way the LORD saved us i thought it was only a matter of properly explaining it to others and once explained clearly enough anyone who heard it would leap for Joy and quickly embrace it.. But i was wrong.. A lot of people have the Gospel Way of salvation explained to them and they either get angry or the laugh at it.. Way too many people.. And it really hurts me to see it happening so often.. We are truly in the end times i believe.. The love of many has grown cold and Jesus lament when He asked the question of would he find Faith on earth on the day of His return really seems prophetic and accurate to me..

As in the days of Noah, so shall the day of the LORD be.. 8 Souls where saved in the Arch during the flood.. How many followers of the LORD will be preserved through the tribulation??? I hope for more then 8..
Rom 11:5, Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

You must believe in this gospel alone for salvation. Otherwise you are adding to it your own words that are not there in the gospel
Paul received from Christ. It has to be " Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again according to the scriptures"
Rom 8:1, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:2, For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:3, For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom 8:4, That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:5, For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6, For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Rom 8:7, Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Rom 8:12, Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Rom 8:13, For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Jesus' kingdom is not of this world. Why would anyone think worldly water has the power to save?

Jesus baptizes with fire and the Holy Spirit of God. How can anyone confuse that with water?

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one
Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, Who is over all and through all and in all.
So...water baptism is not baptism?

Because logically, according to the verse you quoted, there is one baptism...

So if Holy Ghost baptism and water baptism are not inexplicably intertwined, it would seem that one of them is not really baptism...because there is one baptism and if water baptism and Holy Ghost are both baptism are both baptism, then that is two baptisms...

But if they are inextricably intertwined (as we find in Acts 2:38-39), then the two are one.

As I personally find that baptism is three-in-one (like the Trinity):

1) water'

2) Holy Ghost

3) fire.

They are not. Worldly water does not save. The Holy Spirit of God, by grace through faith in the
shed righteous blood of Jesus Christ as an atoning sacrifice in payment for our sin/s, is what saves.

Yes one baptism , the same baptism as Jesus and all His disciples did for remission of sins.

the power of anything in scripture is what the lord said about it

“And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:47‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

you don’t have to get baptized before you receive the spirit by belief but both are for different purposes baptism in water is what God said to do and in return he will remit your sins .

the Holy Spirit comes when you believe the gospel. The Holy Spirit doesn’t promise remission of sins baptism into Christs name does

it’s why baptism is a person confessing faith the. Going under the water and then being raised up from the water . Your being buried with Christ by faith and raised up with him by faith

your right there’s one baptism it has never changed same function and purpose and promise remission of sins according to law being baptized into his death for our sins

and raised up with him for a new life in the spirit

it’s a simple act of faith by a believer hearing and believing and the faith responds

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. ……Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38, 41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it would never help if we begin hearing about baptism for remission and insist it’s not relevant. No one would bother getting baptized if we don’t believe what is said of baptism for remission of sins . But if we understand the Bible says getting baptized in Jesus name is for the remission of our sins by faith we might see it differently

everyone before the cross and after we’re baptized most people who believe the message about repentance and remission of sins Jesus sent out for us are glad to get baptized because it is a promise from ehat God said to do and have our sins remitted

it wouldn’t of course help if I say “ that’s not true “ or “ it’s not needed because of faith “

faith is when you hear and believe something and then gladly do it believing the promise like “get baptized in Jesus name and receive remission of sins “

there’s nothing in scripture that ever changes what baptism is or is for.

The Holy Ghost is absolutely promised to those who receive water baptism in Jesus' Name (Acts 2:38-39);

And I would most certainly say that having the Holy Ghost is salvation (Romans 8:9).

The Holy Ghost is absolutely promised to those who receive water baptism in Jesus' Name (Acts 2:38-39);

And I would most certainly say that having the Holy Ghost is salvation (Romans 8:9).
The Holy Ghost comes because of belief either before water baptism like this

“And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

…..Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:42-44, 47-48‬ ‭

that shows that receiving the Holy Ghost doesn’t change or eliminate getting baptized it was the first thing Peter commanded they do that received the Holy Ghost first because they believed as soon as they received the spirit Peter asks the Jews “ can any man forbid them to be baptized in water ?” Since they also receive the spirit like us ?

it was also the first thing paul did after his conversion ‭‭Acts‬ ‭9:17-18‬ ‭

Or the Holy Ghost can come also after one is baptized for remission

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

whether we get baptized first and then receive the spirit or receive e spirit because we believe the gospel and then get baptized for remission of sins they are for different purposes . Baptism into death the spirit gives new life in the kingdom

there’s no promise of the Holy Ghost remitting sin but the death of Christ does

Paul preached " Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again" as the gospel.

1 Corinthians 15: 3,4.

It was offensive then and still is today to many that hear it.

Gal 5:11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

Paul said " if I preach circumcision... "

If he had preached the law he would be fine.

Because he preached the cross he suffered persecution.

How many preach a prosperity gospel today?
How many preach to please men with a non offensive gospel?

I have heard many man made gospel's in my time.

None of them was offensive, none of them were Paul's gospel.

This is an amazing verse :

1Co_1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

When I preach the gospel I get different responses, some are downright nasty, and some just don't want to know, they could not care less.
Some postpone a response, and most have trusted another gospel and cannot see the light of the gospel Paul preached because Satan deceives them.

2Co_4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

No matter the gospel is preached, it is the glorious gospel when you see its light, to know who Christ is and what He has done for us is indeed glorious.

I can rejoice in the Lord always, I hope you can too.
It's offensive and foolishness to the nonelects.

1 Corinthians 1:18
New King James Version

18 For the [a]message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing (nonelects), but to us (God's elects) who are being saved it is the power of God.

You are reading a corrupt translation.

1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. "
"which are saved"

Are you saved ? If yes. What have you believed to be saved.

The gospel was the power of God unto those who were saved under Peter's ministry.

See 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

Of course, it is also necessary to believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ (1 John 5:1).
