I don't mean to be rude, but what is vastly more important than anything in Revelation is understanding the Gospel . . . [first]. We can read the entire Bible but if we do not understand the Purpose of Christ, the Work of Christ, and the Effect of Christ . . . none of it matters in the least. We can quote scripture all day long, but if we do not understand those three elements of Christ, there is no hope.

My recommendation, based upon the THREE elements of Christ noted above, is to read the SEVEN verses below . . . and memorize them as if they were the new John 3:16.

Colossians 2:9-15 NLT - "For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

Why "pastors" do not teach these seven verses is the single most disgusting thing regarding our modern-day "church" system. It is because our "pastors" refuse to teach Spiritual Circumcision that renders today's "church" as apostate. Simply ignoring the Heart of the Gospel is no excuse. For, this ignoring renders their "gospel" as a false gospel.

Galatians 1:8-9 NIV - "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God's curse!"

There are lots of sevens is this book, it is God's number and represents perfection and completeness.

The "seven stars" in His right hand are the symbol for the angels (pastors) of the seven churches.

The "seven golden candlesticks" represent light, the church is to be the light of this dark world.

This is where dispensationalism is born. The seven churches here representing the entire church age from beginning to end.

Every time you see “7” it is the Word and Spirit working together to accomplish the Father’s Will.

7 = the Work of the Holy Spirit completing and finishing what the Word of God sent It to do….God’s Word does not return void, It accomplishes what It was sent to do.

The Word of God never works alone, It is always accompanied with the Holy Spirit.

The Word is God’s Authority; and
The Holy Spirit is God’s Power.

Idk why so many people jump straight to Revelation and probably never even read all th way through leviticus for example.
It's the last book in the Bible, which means there are 65 books before it. Why does anyone think they will understand Revelation without a firm grasp on everything that precedes it?

If a new believer should read any book all the way through over and over it would probably be Romans - it lays out the gospel in detail. And to understand Romans we have to go all over the OT putting together Paul's arguments - so Romans isn't alone either; we need the whole of scripture!

I wish to add to your point -

In the Old Testament economy - The seven points of light, upon the single lampstand, demonstrated the Glory and Illumination of God, to the Israelites, in it's completeness. They were God's chosen people and the Lord was with them. This spiritual light, was provided for them in the midst of the meeting place (Tabernacle). The only place where God had placed His Name, until the building of the Temple.

In the New Testament economy - God temporarily placed Israel in a state of blindness and the seven points of spiritual illumination (completeness), were removed from them and were broken down into seven individual lampstands (completeness), of the Assembly age. While no one single assembly represents the "complete" revelation, as it did in the Tabernacle/Temple, the seven individual assemblies do. Each one being given spiritual light as God sees fit.

It would be erroneous therefore, to say that each one of the assemblies, seen in Rev. 1-3, are the assembly condition in various ages. This view destroys the completeness of the seven lampstands. All seven of the lampstands are present at any given time in history. They are not piece-milled off, one by one throughout history. The modern day assembly can only have one but all seven are in the world. This is not to say there can only be seven true lampstands (assemblies) but that the "completeness" of the lampstands are in the world, thus the completeness of Christ's Revelation are being proclaimed in the world.

The lampstands themselves, represent the life giving presents of Christ, in the assemblies. Christ threatened to remove the lampstand from Ephesus (Rev.2:5). If the lampstand is removed, from an assembly, this not only means that this assembly is no longer a spiritual light to others but also means, the halls of that assembly have been darkened. The Lord is no longer in that assembly - it's spiritual life is dead. Many so-called churches, today, suffer from this condition.

Those churches are not regarded as allegorical but as TYPES of the church ages.
So what do we have in typology:
Ephesus -- 30 AD to 100 AD
Smyrna -- 100 AD to 300 AD
Pergamum -- 300 AD to 600 AD
Thyatira -- 600 AD to 1500 AD
Sardis -- 1500 AD to 1750 AD
Philadelphia -- 1750 AD to 1900 AD
Laodicea -- 1900 AD to Present

People say this, I will not discount the possibility, however, I think its more likely that Jesus gave us TYPES of Churches that are in every time period you listed, and thus crosses all time. Jesus makes that point by pointing to seven churches just in Asia-minor in the 1st Century. See my point ? I mean Sardis was around in the 1st century as was Pergamum, so, IMHO, I don't think its spread out time periods, I think its 7 different TYPES across the whole church age. But I used to see it like the above myself, the reason I chanted is I came to understand the 7 Churches is nit just chosen for any reason, and 7 stands fir COMPLETION, so that changed my perception, I understood in my mind Jesus was speaking about the entire church age and thus all of the types over that period.

I was glad to see this post and your change of heart on the subject of the "seven churches".

Indeed, the number "seven" represents the Divine "completeness" of a person or thing. Coming to that understanding, leads one to realize that the seven churches mentioned in Rev. 1-3, are the "complete" spiritual health of the churches in any age. As I pointed out, in a previous post, the reason for seven lights being atop "a single lampstand" in the OT age, was because the Jews were God's chosen people. He illuminated them only and they illuminated the world.

By the NT age, the "lampstand" is removed from Israel and broken into seven individual lampstands. One in each assembly, which Christ is present in, mentioned in Revelation. Together, they are our Lord's completed example. Each assembly, autonomous from the other but together in the Lord. If one believes, that the first church is for the first part of an age and the second, the next part and so on - then one divides the seven lampstands into one at a time. This would be the OT equivalent of chopping off the other six points of light from the "one lampstand".

Each of these example assemblies can be found today, just as they have been found in the past.

I hear you, but if a person's heart has not been Circumcised by Christ, the Bible will be of no value.

70th week was fulfilled right after the 69th week, right? After all, the prophecy says "70 weeks" not "69 weeks plus 2,000+ years plus 1 week".
