Actions have to do with law, and most posters either object to law postings, or avoid them. How do you think the Lord wants us to consider his law? There are scripture saying it is given because of sin, that it is not to be used for salvation, that Christ changed it and made it new, and the law of Moses is dead.

There is a beautiful psalm saying we are blessed by the law, a God inspired psalm, yet I have read posts saying we are cursed by the law. We are under grace, gifted with a gift of righteousness or obedience to the law through Christ. I have read posts saying we must not listen to the law because we are not under it for salvation.

Obedience has to refer to the law, for the law defines what is and isn’t obedience. There is scripture saying that if we love the Lord, we will obey him. We are even told our salvation depends on our believing in Christ, and to believe Christ we must believe in obedience for Christ was the only human who was obedient.

If Christ gave us the knowledge of our creator and how he works for us, does that include how we are to live our lives as belonging to Him and under his instructions, must we act on this or is believing it enough?

Following Christ's instructions is tough. Just not following our instincts to fight for our rights but do good for our enemies is a tough one. Judging only righteously is another tough one. I could let myself go on quite a trip of calling people fools, Christ says not to do that. Christ is tough to follow.

Gal 3:
Purpose of the Law

19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.

21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

Paul did not say this was one of many purposes of the law. He said it was THE purpose.

1. It was given because of our sin
2. It was only supposed to empowered until he seed (Christ) would come
3. It proves we are all sinners. as anyone who does not obey every word is cursed. (cursed is the one)
4. It keeps us under guard. as it keeps our pride in check., So we do not get so proud we think we are good enough, And this keeps our focus on God and his grace
5. It was given to Lead Israel to Christ. and in turn, lead everyone to Christ. as it exposes our sin, and our condemnation which is deserved
6. It brings people to the ability to have faith as it makes them poor in spirit. and the sacrificial law shows how redemption is made
7. As such, it is a schoolmaster or tutor which leads people to christ.
8. After Christ comes, it has fulfilled it purpose in our life. and we no longer need it.

Your worship and idolotry of the law worries my my sister.

The law exposes your sin, If you look to the law and do not see how totally unworthy and sinful you are. You are not seeing the law as it was purposed. You are in fact watering down the law.

That is what the pharisees did, and why they rejected CHrist. Because the law did not lead them as a tutor. they turned the law into something it was never intended to be. and made it something it was not.

A child of God does not need to know adultry is a sin. They already know it. As the word said, Gods law is written in our heart. The law can not help a believer. because it exposes our sin, it does not get to the root of the problem of why we sin.

If we just look to the commands, We can fool ourselves into thinking we are ok, when we are not. A person who is walking with God and is loving and serving others does not think of the law. They do not have to. They are doing what REALLY needs to be done to walk in a way worthy of their calling, they are walking IN CHRIST.

People who are to busy looking to the law are to busy trying to not sin, and this takes their focus off of others.. There will be many who will in my view find out they lost so much because instead of looking at loving and serving others. they were too focused on how good they were.

Thread Title ------Does Christ look at our beliefs or our actions?

Christ looks at our Heart and intentions of the heart-----out of the heart the mouth Speaks -------true Faith will make you want to act the way Christians are suppose to ------Faith and actions go together ------true belief is true Faith ------

But here is the thing ---Many say they believe in God but they do not Trust that His Word is actually inspired by Him nor do they believe it will actually do as it says it will do -------so their belief is in God's existence only which says their heart is hardened to the truth of what the Word says ------it says it will not return VOID ------but their belief ---their faith is not in the Word it is only in believing in a God -----

Isaiah 55:11
AMP
So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

Jesus teaches that what we believe becomes our actions

we have to change where our actions are coming from

“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭7:21-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the gospel hearing and believing Jesus changes the core beliefs and desires in us our actions come out of us what’s in us comes out it’s how man operates the spirit within us drives the body d it’s actions

it’s how we’re saved by faith by changing our beliefs

People sin because the knowledge of evil is in us as well as good it’s filled the world and mankind’s heart. There’s lust , pride , greed , hate , envy and every evil known living inside of mankind’s best and mind

think of how the great evil in the earth all comes through mankind it’s because of this state within mans heart and mind

“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭6:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

since Eden it’s been the issue

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We sin because of no belief and understanding of Gods warnings

“The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭36:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

if we don’t believe in jidgement or accountability to God there’s no restraint within us no limit no right and wrong it’s all based on what we think not what God has said

we have to have the gospel fix our heart . It’s why it’s so important and the main subject of scripture. Christs word of life can do this if we let it into our beliefs

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus can take our heart and cut out the evil me full is with righteousness so that our actions just runneth over our from our well Of life inside of we don’t repent and change our minds we can never be free of sin because sin comes from and is rooted in our minds and hearts

all Of us have some darkness some have a lot others have a little bit all
Of us need the light to fill us up and heal our sin and shame

What do you think about the 119th Psalm? It disputes much of your scripture interpretation. If that psalm is not correct we would have to question all psalms, even the wonderful 23rd.

Paul tells us to keep the law as in Rom_3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. How do you reconcile these scriptures with your interpretation of scripture?

Did paul contradict himself?

Your right, we establish the law through faith. Just like I told you. Law brings us to faith. When we come to faith in Christ. We prove what the law has said. The tutor has completed its job.

As for psalms 119, How is david doing what he said? Is he focusing on the law and how good he is, or is he focusing on God and loving and serving others. And by practice not breaking commands,

Paul does not contradict himself, he contradicts your interpretation of what he says.

David is focusing on God and he is using the law properly, he is using it to guide him as he loves the Lord. He could not show love for the Lord and at the same time turn his back on the instructions God gives us for living for him.

I do not understand how it is possible to have faith in Christ and no faith at all in the instructions Christ gives for us to live by.

Nope. He said exactly what I said, and what he said in Gal 3.

Gal 3: 22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, [f]kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring usto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Faith is the proof the law is real. When you come to faith, the law has completed its task as the tutor.

Then paul talks us AFTER faith has come. Where the law fits in.

25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

No, he is focusing on God. And others.

You can;t focus on God when you look to the law. Your focusing on self. How good am, I, What do I need to not do today. What do I need to keep from doing today. Me Me Me.

David focused on the law of Love..

25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. .
If all those scriptures giving us God's law has completed their tasks, what do you think the Lord wants us to do with those scriptures? Should we tear them out of our bibles, do you think--they are over and done with in your interpretation.

I thought that God gave the fleshly commands like fleshly circumcision as tutors to lead to making humans aware they are marked by a special marking to show they belong to God, and of no use any more because Christ gave all the holy spirit as tutor. Now you are saying the entire scripture that God gives us to guide us should be looked at as useless tutors so are these scriptures of no use any longer in your opinion?

Dear Blik I fully agree with what you wrote.

Christ did not come to abolish the law, it was given to us as a moral compass and if we do love God and his beloved son, we will do our very best to uphold the law. Christ clearly said the law will never be abolished! anyone who says the contrary contradicts and disobey Christ and God. I believe in God and that Jesus is the son of God and in the law.

May God bless you all.

Bless,

J.

Moral compass?

It requires perfection. That is the compass that is required.

How well are you doing at it?

I can obey all Ten Commandments, yet still be deep in sin. Its not the compas. it was given to expose our sin, Not tell us how to live.

When Christ gives commands it is telling us how to behave. We show our faith and our love for the Lord through behavior. If it only led to Christ, then it would lead to repentance. When repentance is obeyed it means that you will not to disobey the law. So how ever you cut it, it leads the law leads to repentance from disobeying the law.

Scripture tells us that no one who makes a practice of sin can be with the Lord.

Well then I guess we would never know we sinned, and would never come to faith in christ.

I answered your question, but I repeat my answer. When I am given a commandment by the Lord it helps me by telling me what the Lord wants me to do or not do. The commandments are also written in my heart.

Actions have to do with law
Under the First Covenant, yes. However, under the New Covenant, actions have to do with obedience to Jesus/God,.

Christians today need to believe that God not only looks at, but records ALL our actions, thoughts, beliefs, and words.

One of the cornerstones of the Christian Faith is personal responsibility. All men are held accountable for all their actions/words. Only Grace from God can cleanse us of our sins through the precious blood of Jesus. Yet, our actions/words are STILL recorded because there will come a time when God will consider all for one reason or another. Be it damnation or reward.

I agree, there is a difference in the law under the different covenants. I think what we sometimes forget when we see how much better the new covenant is that it is the holy God our creator who wrote the first covenant. That means we have to read it knowing there are eternal truths in it, for God is truth and cannot lie.

Christ explained the difference so well in the sermon on the mount. Christ said "you have been told". Christ did not say that his Father was all completely wrong to tell them as God did, and the new way the commandments are given does not say to cancel the old. Christ said he never changed what his Father said. But Christ explained that what the true law was, it was the spirit of the law as opposed to the letter of the law. It was the same law, but now so much more accurate.

Christ is so wonderful, he gives us an entirely new and better way to live in this life and adds an eternal life to us!!
