Well, good ole Nods got me to thinkin' about my Noid suit wearing days with a big white 'Carry-out pizza $5' sign draped around my front like a huge oversized 6-foot long, 2-feet wide necklace, in 90 degree summer weather.
(Not really, well, half of that is true, you decide which half :D

--- But, yeah, what would it take for you to say 'Lord, I hear your call.'
In other words: what is it that stops you from getting married?

Kind of personal, I know, but what is it, enquiring minds want to know .

but can you think that a choice that would make you suddenly get married and maybe some married folk want to relate their (fight or flight) response to marry when until then there was NO WAY it was happening in their mind.

Some ideas for me that would have married me a lot sooner, of course, too, thinking the Lord was leading.

1. Going into the army (not saying avoiding draft)
2. Going to have to live in uncomfortable environment.

Ok, that should get you started. :)
Oh, a third reason...almost forgot!
3. Having to wear a cellphone suit and ride a bike (see Nods 'toughie' thread) for any length of time :D

Pretty much the only proof I could see that GOD wanted me to marry would be if her dad showed up on my doorstep with a shotgun in one hand and her in the other in a bride outfit with her belly sticking out well past the rest of her.

So even though I am not even dating anyone, I have been having a feeling that it will happen for me very soon for various reasons. Here a a few funny ones.

A few months ago I was feeling down about being very single and a good friend gave me some encouragement. The same day I get home and there is a wedding magazine in my mailbox.

One of my 5th graders, keeps trying to marry me off.

Yesterday I was trying to call my groomer, I had a name in my phone book listed as Cindy, I called but she was not my groomer, she was a wedding planner. But for some reason I had her name in my phone book but I didnt know who she was. I later realized the groomer was Sandy not Cindy.

I don't think God would allow me to be tortured with all this wedding and marriage stuff if it wasn't gonna happen for me soon.

The number one thing that keeps me from getting married is the idea of settling down with someone. Like meeting a woman who goes into child-deployment mode. I don't want to be stuck with a woman who wants to throw out the anchor and push out babies.

I want to travel with someone for like a year. I want to go on missions trips. I want to live like a married missionary version of James Bond.

My second reason for not getting married is that I haven't developed the habits that a good strong Christian should have before he cements himself to another person.

My Third reason, is a fleeting one but, I'm a pretty poor dude. I know that is going to change but at the same time it is kind of a dating deterrent. Not that when I date I even really date in the first place.

After I find a woman who loves me, the only thing that would stand in the way is having the money for a decent wedding. I wouldn't want to deny her, her parents or my parents the privledge of having a beautiful wedding even though I'm really not a fan of weddings.

Sometims I wish it was like that though. Can you imagine? I can.

"Amber, this is God. Marry that one over there. No the one to the left. No your other left. No! That one. The one in the blue shirt. I said blue not turquoise. NO. Listen carefully. That one right there to the left in the blue shirt and khakis, wearing the baseball cap, 6'2, 215, brown eyes. Seriously Amber, you don't see him? Ugh, nevermind, forget about it."

I never underestimate what God can do and He may have other plans, but from where I sit right now, it would take a trusting friendship, a long engagement and a whoooooooole lotta prayer. I'm not one for rushing the process because it's for a lifetime. We spend years going to school and planning for our future, surely we should do the same for a marriage we want to last a lifetime.

Hahahahaha!

But real talk, there is one specific person that God has made for you. You can be happy with someone else, but it wouldn't be as perfect.
Yes, I know I'm young, but I've been with the same person for three years now. Now, I don't plan on getting married very soon, but I'm honestly at the point that if he asked, I'd say yes. The Lord has not let me get rid of him or forget about him, no matter how I tried. Even before we were even dating.
That's what I think he does, how you will know. When you finally find that person, God won't let you get rid of them without a heck of a fight. He'll pretty much do everything besides tell you out loud. Lol
Well, maybe in some cases he might have to do just that (;
