Do you trust Abba no matter what? Do you trust Him enough to decline the unclean food from the king's table as Daniel and his men did? Do you trust Him enough to continue to walk with integrity when the king says it's illegal? Do you trust him enough to refuse to bow to the gods of men, even if it will mean you are bound and thrown into the fire? Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did. They refused to waiver in their love for Yah. They did so knowing that it could place them in mortal danger. They knew that they could not love Him and their own lives at the same time. When Daniel was thrown in the lion's den, Yah climbed in there with Him and shut the lions' mouths. When Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were bound and thrown into the fire, He stepped into the fire with them and freed them. They walked away without even a hint of smoke about them.
All those who seek refuge, flee for protection, put trust and hope in Him rejoice! Let us ever shout for joy because He puts a hedge around us and overshadows us and weaves us together under the shadow of His wings. Let those who love Him exult, rejoice with triumph in His Name - His character, authority and reputation. He bends the heavens to bless the righteous and surrounds them, encircles them and crowns them with favor, pleasure, delight as a shield or a buckler. Have you ever seen a buckler? This picture shows a few of them. See how they're not just for deflecting an attack? Anyone tries to come at that is going to get hurt!
It is this kind of care and protection Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego knew they had if they maintained their integrity and trusted Him even unto death. We have the same care and protection if we maintain our integrity and trust Him even unto death. No matter what happens, this life is fleeting and passing away. Our hope and expectation lie on the other side where we will meet Him face to face. I long to hear "well done good and faithful servant, enter into your reward." I will decline unclean and defiled things, even if it means I might go hungry. I will continue to walk in integrity even if it's against the law. Lions or no lions, He is right there with me. I will refuse to bow to the gods of man even if I am bound and thrown into the fire. He will be with me. What if I comprised and ate something unclean because I was facing starvation, or make compromises in my walk so I could keep my job or be able to buy and sell, or bowed down to that god just this once so I don't die? He will not be with me. I have a choice, trust Him no matter what and have Him remain right by my side or do things my way and go it alone. The choice is easy even if what is ahead isn't.
