For whatever reason my threads are not being approved :cautious: so I will post this question here, not sure if it makes sense.

How do you know if God is warning you of something or preventing something from happening to you by things that seem to be negative or are they just coincidences? Also, if one is not sure, do they stop from moving forward since we cant live in what if moments?

Pray about it. Ask specifically for wisdom or guidance. I really like the Tecarta Bible app because it has a random daily Bible verse... so many times I pray for guidance and God uses that random verse to speak to my situation.

Sometimes God will speak audibly. In such cases, do what Samuel did: tell God you are listening and ask Him to speak.

If you are trying to do something but keep "hitting a brick wall" maybe it's time to slow down and consider if it's something you should be doing at all.

I once felt like God wanted me to pursue a particular young woman. She decided to go after a guy who admitted that he felt God DID NOT want him to pursue her. Their relationship was very troubled and their plans faced difficulties at every step. Both spoke with people I know about how they felt they were pushing against some resistance. Her parents didn't approve. At one point, during a Sunday school class, a pointed comment was made off the cuff that specifically mentioned fighting God's will in choosing a life partner. In the end, they chose not to heed years of promptings and got married. Only time will tell the outcome. It is a choice that has affected hundreds of families, however. They made him a pastor in her home church after they got married due to family connections.

Arguably, now that I think about it, the above situation could cut both ways, hehe. Maybe God was using the whole thing to show me that pursuing her was the wrong course for me. Ah well. It is what it is.

Jas 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
Jas 1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

^ God has always answered this prayer in my life.

Thank you for sharing. I guess I was asking about someone else. My dad is to start a new job soon and three things already happened to him before starting this new job, one being an accident on his way there and two more things after that. He is not a "Christian" but he woke up this morning wondering if these were signs for him not to go (I also thought this before speaking to him) but then he said he cant make decisions on things he doesn't know or what ifs. So I was just wondering if these were warnings from God or just mere coincidences.

As far as your story, I'm sorry you went through that, but isn't that what you wanted?

Ehhhhh... no, I wouldn't say that things turned out how I wanted, lol! :)

As to your dad's situation... I don't know. I do think that God gives warnings to people. The Damascus road incident with Saul before he became Paul is a good example.

Act_9:5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

The above makes it clear that Saul knew what he was doing in opposing Jesus Christ, and that God had sent him some warnings ("pricks" of the conscience, etc.) which he had ignored and fought against.

Does it matter that the serpent went to Eve first, to deceive her?
Yes. Adam gets the responsibility in the Bible for causing the Fall even though he sinned SECOND. But his sin was WILLFUL DISOBEDIENCE TO GOD, while Eve was merely deceived.

Adam knew God longer than Eve had. He knew better than to fall for this particular temptation.

I wonder what would have happened if Adam had chosen not to sin. Would God have forgiven Eve since she had been deceived? But ultimately the Fall did not take God by surprise and was something He already had a Plan for.

Well I just meant, um nvm. And yes I suppose only time will tell the outcome of his decision. Why are things never crystal clear :cautious:

This life is an arena of choice and consequence... but not just our own choices and consequences. We have to live with the consequences of everyone else's choices and the effects they have on the world too. :/

Satan knew what he was doing. He knew he could trick Eve, and that Eve was the way to get Adam to sin.
OH, reminds me of people plotting, scheming, manipulating to get their ways etc. quite sad, really. I get in trouble when I thwart people's schemes :cautious:. I wonder if Eve plays any role in the end times?

I would say prayer brings us answers when we need them. I think he gives us understanding as we need it and seek it always remembering Who is in us and how close he is and willing to answer us

sometimes it is t the answer we wanted but it’s always the right answer when we ask in his name

it could be the best job ever and the devil doesn’t want him to receive it also he works against us when there’s a blessing within reach just my own thought nothing biblical or anything

well I was bound to make a good point after the nonsense haha

remember

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:8-9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

when we’re believers he spends effort to try to get us and our loved ones away from blessing

Is there a difference with the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ?
