There is no jezebel spirit in the new testament, but they get that idea from the mention of the woman jezebel in the book of Revelation.
Ironically this same gateway church is everything that is wrong with Christianity today with their worldliness.
They talk about grace, and are the most condemning while doing so. Their belly is their god, all these verses are really coming to life in these mega churches, they are an abomination before God.
You said it correctly. Everyone else can see them for what they are: religious con artists. But the very people who are supposed to be keepers of the truth come to their defense. Truly astonishing.
I think I might have listen once or twice to him over the years. I disagree with him on ""Jezebel spirit." I do believe any sin we do can open the door to the enemy.. he is not wrong on this. So whats the problem? You disagree with a man of God that does belong to a GOD as you do. A write the man.. ask him about what it is you question.. as where is this written and the like. Speak words of life...
The term "possession" causes a lot of angst, and it's better to simply avoid it. Christians can be oppressed or influenced by demons.
The books that talk about deliverance are in the Bible. "Jezebel" is mentioned in the book of Revelation. Lord Jesus ministered deliverance frequently. Lord Jesus commanded evil spirit to identify themselves at times.
One of the great lacks in the modern church is the absence of deliverance ministry. When I was first saved, it was commonplace, especially in Pentecostal circles. I saw enough and experienced enough deliverance myself to convince me that it was still relevant.
You won't read about the spirit of doubt and unbelief, but it is a big problem for many. you won't read about the hypnosis demon, but I can assure you that is is real and that some supposed gospel preachers engage in mass hypnosis routinely. If you know anything about the Toronto Blessing, that is a demonic counterfeit of the Holy Spirit. I watched a video of Rodney Howard-Brown hypnotising a pastor who was on the stage.
I believe that we are in the last days and Satan is throwing everything he can at God's people. Surely we are experiencing what Paul warned us about, 2 Timothy 3. The name given to demons indicates their role. That's all.
I am quite familiar with this false argument and Robert Morris is one of the chief proponents. Jesus had to opportunity to discuss this subject in terms of oppressed or influence but instead only discuss it in terms of possession and a demon being in, or out a person. When Jesus or the Apostles discuss it in the non-biblical terms that you proposed then I will listen. This a ridiculous theory espoused by those that want to promote "deliverance." Why? Because they then get to participate in false deliverance thereby boosting their egos.
I am astounded that you advised me to to avoid a word taught by Jesus. Are you sure you want to do that? Better to not go beyond what is written, and avoid non-biblical concepts and words.
You are obviously unaware of the way that evil spirits operate. A born again Christian cannot be possessed. The new spirit is of God and Satan has no access to it. Evil spirits start by attacking the mind (2 Corinthians 10:5). If the individual accepts the thought, the evil spirit will lodge in the mind. From then on, it will influence the individual, extremely subtly, until it has control of the person's will. When it gets to that stage, it has to be cast out.
Evil spirits can also come in instantly. When my daughter was a toddler, we were nearly bowled over by a car that ran a red light. It was terrifying. My daughter had a spirit of fear as a result. I cast it out and she was back to normal. People say that they are addicted to porn. It is a lust demon that they've allowed in by giving into temptation. Smoking is also an addiction that comes from an evil spirit. I've never met one person who enjoyed their first cigarette. There is no logic or reason to smoke. Yet it is one of the hardest addictions to break. I've been told by drug addicts that it was easier to give up heroin.
One of my friends smoked for 30 years. He tried everything to quit. One day he saw that it was an evil spirit. It was cast out and he was free. You won't find a nicotine spirit in the Bible either.
For a much deeper and clearer explanation, I suggest that you read "War on the Saints" by Jesse Penn-Lewis. Derek Prince wrote some excellent books on the subject.
I am astounded that you would use "Do not go beyond what is written" so completely out of context. However, if you think it is there to restrict your vocabulary, that's your choice. I find "possession" quite inadequate to describe all the situations I have experienced personally.
I am aware of what the scripture says and there is not a single example of demonic deliverance of Christian. If you disagree, show me the money.

You are arguing from the negative. Nowhere in the New Testament is there any discussion of demonic deliverance for Christians. Why is it so difficult for you to come up with Biblical examples? Why are you so emotionally invested in promoting something that neither Jesus nor the Apostles addressed? There is just as much evidence for unicorns in the New Testament as what you are pushing. If wrong, show me.
I ask you to provide biblical truth and immediately you resort to name calling. Instead of being so personally disparaging, why don't you put together an argument to support your position?

Can your provide a scripture to support your position that demons can dwell in us?
God has declared “Open Season” on our Flesh! 99.9% of attacks against us are either God trying to destroy our Flesh or the enemy trying to find a home and live in our Flesh which destroys us spiritually……ughhhh!!!!

Where SIN dwells, demons CAN dwell - it is a place of darkness with NO Light.
