Christ astonishes us to this day by being the first human who showed us life as it is after we die to this life. We expect him to only speak to us about that, but that is not what Christ spoke to us about. Christ said what he was sent to tell us was to “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near”. Matthews 3:2 and Matthews 4:17.

I hope you will post your thoughts about this. Here is my thoughts:

For over 4,000 years, man had been taught about how to live on in the next life, it was old hat. That was what the whole sacrificial system was about, and the temple showed God who gave them life. Christ’s message was to tell us how to get to our new life and the shorthand of that message was “repent”.

The four gospels are filled with instructions on how to live this life to get to our next one, of what we are to do or repent of if we can’t manage it. We are so impressed with the fact that what Christ did for us saves us we expect him to use the four gospels to tell us all about that, but Christ didn’t. He expects us to know that, but Christ feels what we need to know is how to get there, ways to live for him.

Titus explains the grace that Christ gives us:

Titus 2: 11 “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and lot live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the papering of the glory of our great god and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and tot purify for himself ta people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

15 Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. let no one disregard you.

While Jesus took upon Himself the form of man when He was here on earth...........Jesus is FULLY GOD! You need to be very careful to remember that, and not fall into the trap of making Jesus "just a man."

Jesus knew he was the Messiah because it says he moved to Capernaum because of a prediction about the Messiah in Isaiah. Matthews 4:11-12. But still scripture tells us his message was to repent rather than to be saved as it seems to me would be the message we need most. God evidently didn't think so.

Have you any idea why repentance because the kingdom of heaven was at hand was considered the most important thing for us to know? By this, it seems to me that God feels that knowing Christ is to make such a change we live this life for Christ, rather than only knowing Christ means we may live in heaven with the Lord.
