Back in 2008 I traveled with my dad to california. We had spent our whole spring and summer traveling the state top to bottom.

We wanted to find a primitave campground to stay at while we were in northern california. After I we had done some searching we decided to make our way to Deadlun Campground in Shasta County, this place was way out in the middle of nowhere. The remoteness seemed to add to the beauty. Upon arrival there was a huge sign at the entrance that warned about multiple bear sightings on the grounds. Also posters that demonstrated how to keep bears away and how to respond if you would come face to face with one of these beasts.

We were totally roughing it. Our supplies consisted of a cooler, enough food to stretch out for a week or so, hygiene products, and our sleeping bags. No tent, no guns, no cellphones; not that I think we could have got reception anyway, not nearly enough water to last even a few days. We ended up boiling water that we got from the lake for drinking.

There was evidence of bears all around the campsites: prints, dung, flattened brush. We were sleeping under the stars, was I afraid of the bears? I would say it wasn't fear, it was more excitement than anything. I knew God had us covered. At night while sitting around the fire, you could hear branches breaking and bears snorting, it really was a trip! One night I had awaken to what felt like something standing over me and breathing on me. I didn't think much of it and just pulled my sleeping bag over my head and fell back to sleep. The next morning we rose to see bear prints and bear dung spread throughout our site. We had bears dwelling within ten feet of our camp! I was then almost certain that I had a bear checkin me out when I woke up during the night.

While on this trip we also shared our breakfast with some deer. We were eating oatmeal and drinking coffee when a group of does approached us and started munching on some vegetation just about eight feet away from us. This was an outing that I will never forget, it was a spiritual experience to say the least. Just God, His beautiful creation, my dad, myself and no distractions.

I've also had encounters with coyotes other times while sleeping out under the stars, but thats part of a whole other story..............

I got attacked by 8 dogs. Each one took turns trying to take a bite at me. I was kicking ,trying to smack one,and yelling, after a while i yelled out "JESUS" and in a few seconds i made my way out of there. Then i went to the bandconstables(native authorities on reserve land) and they got a 12 gauge shot gun . We found the dogs and picked the most vicious one. The guy shot it until it was dead then we dragged it to the dump by a rope attached to the truck. I felt better once i had the dead dog by the legs and threw it into the garbage.

I saw a fox galavanting through the streets of my community, not something anyone sees much of.

PSH noo I didn't count. I just killed them. I rounded to a possible 30. He meticulously sat in his bathroom when he got home and counted them as he pulled them off with tweezers.

- I was chased by an angry groundhog while jogging once

- A rabbit ate my curtains

- A buffalo charged my family on a wildlife refuge because my uncle got up in its face with a camera

This isn't an experience with wildlife, but I feel this is the best place to post it w/out starting a new thread. I have a cat, her name is fluffy, she is the sweetest cat ever! Well anyway....the other night I was laying in bed watching television when my cat jumped in the bed. Usually she will lay down next to me, but this night she decided to climb up on my chest and lay down. About a half hour after that I shut off the TV and folded my hands ready to go to sleep (yep, I fold my hands while sleeping on my back, lol)

So I was laying there and I started praying to God, a silent prayer. As I started praying I felt a little fuzzy paw being placed on top of my hands. I paused for a second and thought "aww my cat is praying with me!" Then I resumed where I had left off, when I had finished the prayer my cat got up and walked away. Was this God's way of reassuring me that He was listening? What do ya'll make of this? I'd like to know :)

I got another experience that IS involving wildlife that I wanted to share...

I was fishing last week at a local pond, everything was serene, quiet and calm. Suddenly there was a commotion in a nearby tree. The branches were shaking and hundreds of birds were chirping, it didn't sound like any ordanairy song that you hear from birds. This sound was agreesive, loud and just complete chaos.

Next thing I see is a hawk flying out of the tree and passing by with a baby bird in it's talons, followed by a dark cloud of probably a couple hundred birds chasing after it. First time I had even seen anything of the sort.

I recently went horseback riding on the beach in Costa Rica, that was fun. However, I nearly had a death experience with my "lovely" horse. Of course the morons(pardon my language) had given me a horse that was afraid of water, go figure. Anyways, these horses are trained to follow whatever the horse in front does, well my friends who are experts in horseback riding started picking up speed. The three of us were ahead of the whole group and we just started galloping. My horse was going so fast, and it felt good by the way, until a huge wave hit the sand and came towards the horse. My "lovely" horse got really scared, lifted its two feet in the air, did a full 360 spin and started heading the other direction even faster. Yea, for a first-time horseback rider, I have to say that has been the scariest moment of my life with wildlife, well almost wildlife :( Thankfully I held on to that horse really tight because I could have fallen and broken a neck, well that is what the tour guide said -_-
