you know I started a thread about how God views us...He does not view us as a sinner in Christ

pilgrim there, inserted himself and posted only about sin...basically wiped out the thread and put it on another course

how many more of his sin threads do you think we need?

never mind

smh
It does seem some are obsessed with the sins of others while never confessing their own.

I think a thread done correctly about sin is important, the problem is that we have had all the condemning judgemental teachers doing it and it has burned everyone out, being sinless not living in sinl losing salvation because of sin it all has being exhausting because the wrong people have been doing it it has not been instructive it has not been edifcation it hasn't been building the church and honestly I have half a mind to just do it myself because I know it is important Jesus taught about sin as well as love and grace.

I want more than anything to see the church grow and be built up to watch the church bud and flourish and sin is a subject we cannot simply gloss over nor can we beat it over peoples heads either it has to be done correctly and it has to be done for the right reason.

I think if done correctly it would be good edification and again I think you would be a good fit for it. I am not a teacher I don't think I have that gift I also am not good at organizing scriptures like you are which would be important for such a thread
we all Have our strengths in Christ no matter what stage of this we are at . But a lot of what I’m getting at , your saying also in a different way I think sometimes we don’t recognize how in tune we are because we express the same things differently

I think that’s part of the lords design if someone doesn’t get what one person is saying the way they are saying it , they may get what the other person is saying because they are speaking in a way that’s understood to them

I get along good with those who look to scripture usually always find a good point to agree but others are speaking from what they have learned through scripture and experience

I’m no teacher either just a student of the Bible as Many are God bless

it's almost as if you have to beat the truth out of people

maybe we should flog ourselves or become ascetics so avoid the wrath of God

that is the conclusion someone might come to if all they read was about sin and punishment

since we cannot just stop sinning with never a sin again, then surely there must be an answer if God expects holiness

you would think
maybe it’s just that some are convinced sin can’t be overcome and others believe it can be through Christ ?

Dear Blain

I disagree. The church needs to get back to the One who died for it. The church is the Body of our Savior and it is badly hurt and crippled.

You cannot see the church grow...take into account this entire world. Do you think those who suffer punishment and death because they believe in Jesus need to be pounded with scripture on sin? God loves the entire world and not just the USA.

I don't think you are going to change your view. For some reason you are persuaded that sin talk is going to bring about the next big spiritual whatever and that is not going to happen.

I won't say more but I have not said what I would like to say

I cannot figure why someone would gloss over all that we are in Christ and prefer to talk about sin sin sin as though God had not made the remedy for what the devil likes to deliver and concentrate on

I disagree more than I am free to say. but you have assuaged something you are not aware of.

we know the deadly effects

we found out about them in Genesis and on the journey from Egypt to the Promised Land

we seem to be missing the cure for all of that though, in these sin threads that offer nothing but condemnation and judgement to people who believe they are just a sinner saved by grace

that is not what scripture teaches and would be interesting to discuss why certain individuals seem to have an almost pathological need to discuss sin in all its various flavors

where is the new man? floundering in sin? where are the righteous in Christ? did that seal somehow slip off?

right. so people will accept Christ. not so that they can be reminded of what rotten sinners they are day after day after day

no wonder there are so many unhappy faces in all these so called 'holiness' churches. that kind of holiness is FAKE holiness

the outward expression of our salvation should be a countenance that illustrates the love of God and not the fear of punishment

I could write a book, but we already have a book. concentrating on only one thing, creates cultish behavior IMO
yes you exhibit that behavior well

We need a separate segment of the forums titled "Obsession with Sin". Then all those threads can be transferred there and ignored.

It does seem some are obsessed with the sins of others while never confessing their own.
it is about redirecting from the inner man to outward appearances for one thing, understanding that actually detracts from salvation and puts a person on the road away from Christ

notice there is never any talk of Christ or our new life in Him

your body is going to rot. you will never be sinless in this life...which is why Jesus died for you...He alone sinless and perfect died for you.

it is only your spirit that is changed to live for Christ and direct your body as an instrument of righteousness...we shall have new bodies and no more outward fake holiness because we believe in our self righteousness...and oh boy....we have ALL been self righteous more than once

2 Cor. 12:7-10 KJV says Paul has weaknesses caused by a messenger of Satan (a thorn in his flesh) that prompted Christ to answer his prayer, saying "my strength is made perfect in weakness." Paul concludes that he takes pleasure in his "infirmities" which seems to be translated from a word that means "moral frailty." It sounds like Paul is saying that he benefits to some degree from not being perfect due to the power of Christ. Take that as you may.

What do you see different? Please, I'm all open to anything you'd like to share.
What I think is this.

1. There are still controversies about what this thorn in the flesh is. But for me knowing who Paul is from his epistles, I doubt if it means moral frailty.

2. At the time Paul was being converted, the Lord told Ananias and I quote, "Go your way for he is a chosen vessel unto me to bear my name before the Gentiles and Kings and the children of Israel. For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake" Acts 9:15 -16) So, I subscribe to the school of thought that believes it relates to the enormous afflictions lined up for him on the way of his Ministry. These infirmities as he called them, he highlighted in 2Corinthians 11:23 -33. Amidst these, he stated in verse 30 that if he must glory, he will glory in things concerning his infirmities. This was before the chapter you quoted.

3. When Paul petitioned the Lord and the Lord told him that HIS grace is sufficient for him, for His strength is made perfect in weakness, he rejoiced because he knew the grace will always be there to empower and strengthen him to overcome. Therefore, he says, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in persecutions in distresses, for Christs sake , for when I am weak, then am I strong.

4. So, I see no paradoxes there. And, it has nothing to do with his personal character or conduct. This I believe and my take on it.

A mature believer does not need some one pointing out his failures.
The Holy Spirit that dwells within will do that.
It is responsibility of the local church to help those babes in Christ to grow and mature.
That can never be done when one just harps on sin, continually pointing out that babe in Christ's failures.

Yes the church has been hurt badly I have seen this and it is because of teachers that we have seen the reason I want to talk about sin the correct way is to show the correct way to do it. It isn't as if I am no stranger to the damage done by these kinds of things I was nearly destroyed by it I was drenched in my own tears thinking I was surely going to hell I would attack my self for every time I would fail to meet the standard I had sucha hatred for myself such fiery hatred such shame I dared not even ask God for forgiveness I disgusted myself all because I tried to be perfect and sinless all because I listened to a teacher who preached it the anger and hatred and disgust for myself was demonic in nature it was without a doubt the worst and darkest storm in my life I nearly lost myself to it.

@Lafftur was the one who brought me out of the storm so trust me I know the damage from this sin thing yet I want to speak on it anyways, for one who has gone through such hell from it why would I want to see value in it if there wasn't value to it? I am going to take a crack at making a thread on it and I hope you check it out and see for yourself what I have to say on the matter I am tired of seeing the church damaged by all these condemning teachers and their threads and I want to make a thread talking about sin the right way I am not a teacher by any means but I will do my best.

and the cure for that is knowing, accepting and believing that God does not see you that way. the cure for that is knowing that you are already sinless in God's eyes NOT because of anything you can or ever will do, but because Jesus died for YOU and loves you so much He died for you as an innocent man...God nonetheless, but in all things tempted as are we

there is no standard to meet. we cannot meet the standard should one appear. it is all about what Jesus has done and who we are in Him

what does it mean to be in Christ? for one thing, it means we have the very righteousness of God Himself...no sin at all...not in our flesh but in our spirit...remember God is Spirit and we come to Him with our Spirits. as the Bible says, in our flesh there is nothing good.

I know a little of your personal story....and I can only encourage you to study just who you really are as God sees you

we are not all in the same place...while I do not make public all of my background, I have not had it easy at all either...not as you have had things...but as God saw fit to allow me to experience

anyway, I am not much on comparing bruises...but I know that examining them every day does not make them go away either

you are certainly free to create any thread allowed here as you will

Yes your opinions are noted now let’s consider what scripture actually says want to ? The opinions of Sophie isn’t going to save anyone the word of God actually will . You are completely convinced sin is mans master and can’t be overcome in Christ ????? Is that correct ?

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭

faith in Christ should tell you this

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32, 34, 36‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it seems I believe that’s true he’s not saying “ none of you who serve sin will ever be free of serving sin

“What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death,

or of obedience unto righteousness?

But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:15-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul isn’t saying “ if you continue to serve sin you’ll be saved “ he’s explaining that what Jesus said is true

You should start forgetting The idea that people in Christ are no different from those who reject him and serve sin. And start accepting the truth that sets believers free from sins control over thier lives and actions

the Bible doesn’t ever say Christians are just sinners it says they were sinners like all Men are but now they exist in Christ and his truth that sets them free from this position

“In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:25-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

when we are convinced we’re sinners and can’t change it’s because we’re not free yet. When you can start acknowledging what The holy scripture has to say this will make sense to you
and won’t be thought of self righteousness lol

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

as long as your offering yourself as a servant of sin ten at can never really repent you can’t present yourself as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God and you can’t ever understand his good pleasong and perfect will

it’s not impossible to repent from serving sin it is a gift chrirt gives his disciples who actually beer and believe his true words and let go of thier own ore conceived opinions.

if we think that Christ didn’t get it it’s not him that needs to change his word but we need to change our thinking

start believing you can be made free from sins dominion and power over you to make you it’s servant and you’ll find freedom through repentance

And maybe those on eternal security and Osas will also be tossed out.
it’s strange when any one post comes up talking about repenting from sin being part of the doctrine lol then it’s an obsession with sin haha

if anyone examines this forum they will find hardly any posts talking about sin and that we need to stop serving it

if it’s even mentioned or discussed from time to time it’s like moths to a flame to try to discredit anything that will cause people to understand we can’t keep sinning.

“ your self righteous” they say as we quote clear scripture from the New Testament written to the church. “Your obsessed with sin “ they say when we discuss what the New Testament says about continuing on in sin .

“ your under the law “ they say as we discuss the gospel and it’s power to change us from sinners to Gods children

I knew when overcome made the op what would happen it’s not often to find a post like this here but whenever someone brings it up they become the “obsessed with sin enemy “ because they dared to speak of the truth about sin in Christ

Of course. If you are your father's son, nothing can change that. Similarly if one is a child of God nothing can change that, since no one can be "unborn". Even little children understand these elementary truths. A genuine Christian is a child of God, and therefore must live like one. If someone is not living soberly, righteously, and godly, then that person is NOT a child of God. He or she may claim to be "Christian" but that is self-deception.

Since OSAS has come up, let's call it a misnomer. The correct term is "the eternal security of the believer" (not the pretender). The Bible is very clear that every child of God is eternally secure in Christ. No one "loses" their salvation, since those who seem to do so were never saved to begin with. And Paul even called the carnal among the Corinthians "saints" (sanctified ones): Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called [to be] saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Just ignore "to be" which is in italics but not in the text. "Called saints" is what Paul said/
'will address this later please. Time to sign off.

No sister you have not said too much. You are speaking that which has been hidden by whispers and distorted men. The kingdom is fitted with men and women who were purchased by Christ in His own blood. Who does not know it? Then let them depart and stop bearing false witness if they say they belong to Christ. Unless we stand on a firm foundation of the shed blood of the Lamb and the gift of eternal life by Him, for His glory, through his body and blood and in Him by the Father's doing on the cross, buried with Him and raised again unto eternal life and seated in Him at the right hand of the Father - we are chaffing at the wind of our Salvation. There is only one gospel and unless we lay hold of it we will never come to maturity and in no wise be able to eat the meat of our full obedience for His everlasting glory.
