My Bible says the wicked will be destroyed.
Yes, but you are REFUSING to believe what that actually means. You are trying vainly to claim that it means "annihilation" when it actually means "eternal damnation" -- ruination in Hell. And therein lies your problem.

Now here is what Jesus said -- these are the recorded words of Christ: He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36) "Abideth" means "remains". And while Christ did not say in this sentence "abideth eternally" He did say that in other places (Mark 9:43-48). "The fire that never shall be quenched" means an eternal fire in Hell.

Too funny. You talk of word definitions while you twist them to suit your doctrine. Oh, so God's wrath remaining on someone necessarily means to you that... yeah, you add a bunch of stuff right there. Eternal conscious torment, a doctrine straight from the pits of hell. Please start making a distinction between hell, which is improperly inserted into the text where it does not belong, and the Lake of Fire. You ought to know the difference! While you are pondering those truths and word meanings, you may also consider looking up all the times it is stated that the wages of sin is DEATH, and eternal conscious torment is not ONCE mentioned in the text. How death is the end, the wicked are destroyed utterly, they perish, become nothing. Those verses FAR outweigh any you can bring to the table. They proliferate throughout Scripture from beginning to end, but get twisted around by the likes of you on a regular basis so you can hold to the false doctrine concocted by the RCC.

There's a teaching on Cain and Abel that has one especially remarkable moment when this topic comes up, but only in a "during this lifetime" sort of way.

That may sound contradictory but he's studying the REASON for the events. And the reasoning during THIS life carries over to the reasoning in the eternal. It's just a hard pill to swallow when he describes it.

I'll post the link and could (but won't) tell you where to find the moment I'm talking about. Why? Because If you can spend hours in the BDF, you can afford to listen to 16 minutes of impressive teaching (from a non-Christian, believe it or not) to stumble across a truth that might shed light on eternity. And the Cain and Abel explanation kind of sets the mood for when you get there. (at LEAST start listening at the 5:00 timestamp).

As for the video, I recommend listening rather than watching because his gestures seem distracting rather than helpful (to me), and please remember he's a heathen so you may have to overlook some bad if you want to glean the good. Also, you kind of need to ride along rather than trying to understand each word or phrase along the way because he blasts concepts at a high rate. (It's kind of like trying to enjoy riding in a speed boat). You could always listen to it a second time.

Here's the link to the Cain & Abel video. <--Click on it. :)

Let me know (preferrably in private, but not required) if you find the moment I'm talking about.

Love in Jesus,
Kelby

I'd always sorta believed that the unsaved would suffer forever due to that was what I'd heard in the few different churches I'd attended. It wasn't really settled in me and because of this, I thought as little about it as I could.
One day I had a thought process (that I don't recall) that led me on a several hour journey through my bible and concordance. I recall that it had to do with where the word fire came from. I eventually concluded that the bible talked about 2 types of fire...physical and spiritual.
I think that one was pyre and the other was perhaps pyra, or something similar. I wish I'd written it down. Anyway, instead of some scripture that appeared to say, "the eternal punishment of fire," it was, "the punishment of eternal fire." I concluded that eternal fire never went out, and after more research, I concluded that it was able to consume one's spirit and soul.
I looked into the root of the word perish and similar words. As with many words, it was possible that it could mean more than one thing.
Know the Father's love, that He knew everything that would happen before He made anything, and His character, I concluded that no one would suffer for eternity. I even learned that the word "forever" might be a finite thing.
I believe that I was unbiased when I came to this conclusion, that I just wanted to know what the truth was. In the end, it matters what the Lord says.

There are many today who say they are Christians but refuse to believe the Bible when it does not suit them. However, since the Bible is the Word of God, we must take all things stated therein as divine revelation -- “Gospel truth”.

While the subject of eternal damnation in Hell is unpleasant, it must be faced by absolutely everyone. The primary reason for the preaching of the Gospel is to save sinners from Hell. Otherwise Scripture would not say “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners... (1 Tim 1:15). In view of the danger and jeopardy of Hell, God now commands all men everywhere to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved (Acts 17:30;16:31).

The Bible does in fact warn sinners over and over again about the wrath of God and eternal damnation and torment in Hell. There is no such thing as sinners ceasing to exist (as falsely taught by Annihilationists). That is what Satan would have people believe.

It is unfortunate that the King James translators translated three different Greek words (Hades, Gehenna, and Tartarus) by the same English word “hell”, and then compounded the confusion by translating the Hebrew word Sheol as “the grave” or “hell”, when Sheol is the same as Hades (the abode of departed souls and spirits). But only the Greek word Gehenna is used for eternal Hell -- the Lake of Fire -- “where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth”, and “where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched”.

It is primarily the Lord Jesus Christ who spoke of Gehenna (Hell) since He is the one who created Hell for the devil and his angels (Mt 25:41), where it is called “everlasting fire” because it is for the eternal torment of the devil, the beast, and the false prophet (Rev 20:10). The Scriptures in which He mentioned Gehenna are Matthew 5:22,29,30; 10:28; 18:8.9; 23:15,33; Mark 9:43,45,47; and Luke 12:4,5. James 3:6 has the same word. All the other times the word “hell” occurs in the New Testament, it is a reference to Hades (other than once to Tartarus). Hades is a precursor to Gehenna. The Lake of Fire is only mentioned in the book of Revelation (19:20; 20:10.14,15), and it is the same as Gehenna.

Christ’s warnings about the eternal damnation of Hell
The Lord Jesus Christ (along with God the Father and the Holy Spirit) is the only ones who can tell us the truth about Hell. Therefore we are to give serious attention to what He has said.

The jeopardy of Hell is even in what we say
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. (Mt 5:22)

Physical mutilation and death are preferable to Hell
And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell... And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell... Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. (Mt 5:29,30;10:28; 18:8,9)

Anything other the the Gospel is a guarantee of Hell
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. (Mt 23:15)

Hell is synonymous with damnation
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? (Mt 23:33)

The fire and torment of Hell never cease
And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. (Mk 9:43-48) [Note: the “worm” is a metaphor for torment, just as worms gnawing on a live person’s body would be constant torment).

The reality of Hell should put the fear of God into every soul
And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. (Lk 12:4,5).
The easy response is what's happens to sinful thinking but doesn't fill responsibility for just thinking beyond the powers of grace and mercy, like Paul wasn't very impressed with his flesh behaviors called Saul, so is the questions where will it be perfectly removed so Paul could overcome that power being alive with him, that other concern of no one else being infected with same belief called Saul is obviously still happening in man. It does sound like Gods killing man with deep failures is your responsibility on what is being sent to hell, fire pits, helpless, haters, liars, dishonest,................for man with Christ in him is a just to weak to save himself.
