ok chris i asked a good friend wether i should stick with a kjv considering that it seems to be the least tampered with version of the bible out there. he answered that it doesnt matter what version you read because if you pray that god will give you understanding(the truth) as you read then he will give you the truth. so i guess what im trying to say is yah maybe i dont know all the hebrew translations but what i do know is that homosexuality is wrong either way

The bible was written 3500 years ago when man's knowledge of the world was very little after all they thought it was flat?! I wonder if the bible had a new testament written in 2011 would it be more tolerant on the subject of homosexuality?

I have. A lot. and in the end, God gave me a sinking feeling in my stomach whenever I read the passages in English condemning homosexuality, as if something wasn't right. Much of the Old Testament is metaphorical and cultural laws. Much of it doesn't apply to our modern times. The New Testament's only reference to homosexuality is in Romans and it's shotty at best.

You don't think that nature has been distorted at all since the Fall? You believe that death, disease, mental and physical birth defects, criminal insanity, depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, variant sexual preferences and paraphilias are all part of God's design and intention? I've had the same feeling you describe when at the hospital waiting for shots. It's not a "god emotion", it's rather a human emotional reaction to something perceived to be wrong/bad/etc..

Also, I'm curious. Where in the bible does it say that God uses sinking feelings in the stomach to confirm a truth? This sounds all to like what Mormons claim about the BoM and PoGP. "If you feel a warm feeling in your stomach after reading it, that's God confirming it!"

What I want to know from you is this. How do we know (scripturally) when a feeling is Human, Divine, or Demonic? Scripture tells us that the demonic can influence our mind, just as God can as well.

Much of the Old Testament is metaphorical and cultural laws. Much of it doesn't apply to our modern times.

I wouldn't say metaphorical, unless you speak of Psalms and Proverbs. Much of it is historical and prophetic. However, what does not apply would be the civil and ceremonial laws. The Moral Law still applies. Otherwise, you advocate a contradictory message about the relationship between The Old Testament, Chirst, and the New Testament.

Remember, Christ did not come to abolish the law, but rather fullfill it. Christ raised it to a higher standard.

The below chart is an example of hermeneutical and exegetical classification.

The New Testament's only reference to homosexuality is in Romans and it's shotty at best.

Even if the issue of homosexuality was never mentioned at all, in all of the bible, so long as the bible remained clear on one subject it would still be clear as day. Why would this be? The bible repeatedly affirms that God's ideal for human sexuality goes like this:
1) No sexual relations outside of the Marriage Covenent
2) The Marriage Covenent is between one man and one woman, for life with few exceptions for divorce. (adultery and abandonment)


Anything in violation to this would be sin.

Genesis 1:27-28

1:27 God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply! Fill the earth and subdue it! Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the ground.”

Genesis 2:24
2:24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and unites with his wife, and they become a new family.

If you see a sign that says, "Turn left here"... do you say, "Welp, doesn't say I can't turn right!"? I am genuinely curious about that.

Next, just because a human questions a passage, that does not make it a questionable passage. For this is the oldest trick of Satan's.
