WOW...now you are calling God's word...."snooty and holier-than-thou attitiudes"...
Trying to shoot the Messenger is foolish. Now that is from me.
There is no room for different understanding on this one. Scripture is clear.
There is only one side for the person who refuses to see the other side.

LOL don't worry about the messenger...just be concerned about the Judge.
In my assignment there is no PC.
To quote Alan Parsons, "I don't care what you do, I wouldn't want to be like you!" SMH!

I will not forgo God's word and His intent. When it is wrong...I can't see it. Don't wear those glasses.

Further, I don't recommend any one do that.

Nobody is asking you to forego God's word. I am asking you to look honestly at the other verses... the ones that don't support your position.

Your interpretation of scripture.
"17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit," - Romans 14:7
No one is asking you to change your mind...just to be more tolerant about what others believe in regards to disputable matters. But I'm learning that you don't seem to be willing to do this.
This is something that I've learned over the years...pride is invisible, it feels good, it seems right, and it blinds!

Contrary to what some teach, alcohol is neither cunning nor baffling...though the human heart is!
Some can drink responsibly and some can't. And for you, it is sinful for you to drink.

Because of a difference in understanding scripture, you say I reject God's word. That is a very serious charge. I don't, in my opinion. Obviously, it's not yours. I can live with that. I just don't like snooty, holier-than-thou attitudes, that's all. May the Lord judge both of us.
You is good to go, Oblio. :D

Amen and Amen!
We must all pray one for another... and remember what Christian Liberty says about our dear brother...

Romans
14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, [but] not to doubtful disputations.
14:2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
14:3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day [alike]. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
14:6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth [it] unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard [it]. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
14:9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
14:11 For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in [his] brother's way.
14:14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that [there is] nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him [it is] unclean.
14:15 But if thy brother be grieved with [thy] meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
14:16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
14:18 For he that in these things serveth Christ [is] acceptable to God, and approved of men.
14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
14:20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed [are] pure; but [it is] evil for that man who eateth with offence.
14:21 [It is] good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [any thing] whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
14:22 Hast thou faith? have [it] to thyself before God. Happy [is] he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because [he eateth] not of faith: for whatsoever [is] not of faith is sin.

The Bible speaks for itself on the issue. End of point.

I remind you again that I don't drink and think the world would be a better place without drinking, but I do not believe that scripture teaches abstinence.
Study the Bible. End of point.

That is your side.
That is a typical leftist position.
I cannot agree with you therefore I can not agree with you....my position on scripture in the Bible concerning alcohol has been clear and it is scriptural supported therefore I cannot change it.
I don't see any difficulty with that.

You wish to argue ...I will not.
End of point.

This is truly interesting...is other mind altering drugs i.e...pot, lsd, etc, ok also?
There are many ways to achieve that mind condition displayed by alcohol.

Marijuana has some legitimate medical uses. It can be an excellent substitute for opiates for chronic pain relief.
L.S.D. is a dangerous drug with little, if any, medical value. Using it is a very good way to get demonized.
Religion can also be a dangerous drug if abused. Addictive behavior is idolatry, in my opinion. It's my job to run my life, not someone else's. As if I could.
In my humble opinion, the best drug is no drug. However, the good Lord has seen fit to give us certain substances to be used wisely.
You say God doesn't want people to drink alcohol. Some say that spiritual gifts no longer exist. People say all kinds of things.
My job is to come to decisions on what I believe the word says and what I believe God's will is for me. I don't like the truth being held back from me and I don't like someone trying to make up my mind for me. I try to extend this grace to others as this is how I'd like them to treat me.
I'm not a communist and I'm not a Nazi...I'm a libertarian. "You may disagree with me, but I'll defend your right to disagree with me."

I am what I am, a child of the great I Am, by the blood of the Lamb, the Lamb who was slain.
I'm precious in His sight, the apple of His eye, I am fearfully and wonderfully made! -tc

Shalom!

I agree.

Deuteronomy 14:26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice.

You are the one ignoring Scripture. That's a "you" problem.
