Is this your honest anwer? I'll try again, Do you believe Jesus "cleanses us from all unrighteousness"?

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Maybe the reason why you didn't answer is because you know that if He cleanses us from all unrighteousness, that would make us righteous, without sin, due to the abstinence of all unrighteousness, right?

Lot is called righteous, but Lot is full of sin, contending with the messengers of God every step of the way.

read your Bible.

I'm saying you are mocking GOD ...

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar
(1 John 4:20)

do you have sin?
do you ever commit any sin at all?

Let me make this simple for you. You don't have a love relationship with GOD when you have separation in your life ...repeated willful sin. Hello? Is this not obvious?
“Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him. And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭15:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, and stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.

There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.

Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭7:37-50‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭1:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother?

for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, And every tongue shall confess to God.

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭14:4, 8-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.
(1 John 5:4)

if by works, then grace is no longer grace.
we are no longer under the law -- the law is the power of sin.

One must understand that Paul talks about two laws, that verse refers to the animal Sacrificial law, not the Ten Commandments. Paul explained this in; (Hebrews 10: (v.1) For the law (what law, the law of animal sacrifice?) having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. (v.9) Then said he, (Jesus) Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first that he may establish the second. (v.10) By which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 but this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

The point that is not understand is that we all have sin, but until Jesus came, there was no way of getting out from under your sins. So God institute a Priesthood and laws that went with the priesthood to control the sinning, and so the Lord use animal Sacrificial laws, even though it could not remove sins.

When Jesus died on the cross that was the end of the first covenant, which consisted of the blood of animals and the keeping of God’s commandments. And his death also brought in the second covenant, which consist of the blood of Jesus and the keeping of God’s commandments. (v.18) Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. In other words, no more animals are going to die for your sins. (20) by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; (21) and having an high priest over the house of God; (v.26) For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.

Now do we understand what’s being said here? If you sin willfully after you have knowledge of what the truth is, no more animals are going to die for you. (v.27) But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. Now if you are being deceived into believing that once you are under God’s grace you no longer have to keep his commandments, all you have to look forward to is the day of judgement and the lake of fire (fiery indignation).

hmm

But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”
(Romans 7:6-7)
Paul specifically points to the 10 commandments when he says we are not under the law. ((Exodus 20:17))

therefore, if the commandments still condemn us, then 'there is no more condemnation for those who are in Christ' is a lie, and salvation is by works, therefore there is no salvation: because all have sinned & there is no more sacrifice.

splitting the law into parts that are still binding and parts that are not is a purely human tradition, not found in the scripture anywhere - for whoever breaks the least, is guilty of all. ((a second witness for ya)). you go ahead and decide what you think is the 'least' ;)

More oddness of "spirit" in Scripture for you to ignore:

Isa 29:10
For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

Isa 57:15
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Isa 61:3
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Mar 8:24
And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.”

The Law written to our hearts is what The HOLY SPIRIT Grieving is about. We are being molded to have Everlasting Intentions (spirit/heart) in the Infinite Afterlife. The Law of CHRIST.

Romans 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

View attachment 237754

Well, let's take a look at what Paul is saying here in Romans 8th chapter because there two different laws Paul talks about in this chapter. Let's take a look at Roman 8: 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. This is true, because Jesus says in John 4: 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Jesus also say in John 6: 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. So walking in the spirit is the word of God.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Now, what law is this Paul talking about. This law is animal sacrificial law, not the royal law (Ten Commandments, statutes and Judgement). Paul explained this law in; (Heb.10:1, 9-10,18,26-27) (v.1) For the law (what law, the law of animal sacrifice?) having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. (v.9) Then said he, (Jesus) Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first that he may establish the second. (v.10) By which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

(v.26) For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.

Now, Let's get back to Romans 8: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

So what is the righteousness of the law? Let allow Paul to tell us in Paul said in (Rom. 7:7,12) (v.7) What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, THOU SHALT NOT COVET. Paul asked a question, is the law sin? He said God forbid, he said the only way that he knew what sin was, was by the law. (v.12) Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

The Sabbath day on the seventh day of the week, it is consider walking in the spirit because its part of the law (commandments), to be carnally minded is walk contrary to the law of righteousness.

Naw, Let's read it again in Romans: 6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. This law refers to the animal Sacrificial law, because no matter how many animal were kill they could never remove sins. This law was added because of sin until Jesus came. Jesus deliver us from a eternal death sentence, because one must realize, it's all about sin. The key is staying sin free. Paul said in (Rom. 3:23-25) (v.23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (v.24) Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: (v.25) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. So the bible tells you to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2 :36-38). And by doing so you come up under his precious blood and then you are saved from your sins that are past, not present or future sins but for sins that are past. We were all locked under death by Adam’s sin, even the second death. Because for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 23:3), and if you continue to live you will sin again. It is the willful sinning that you need to put in check. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (Hebrew 10: 26, 27)

Now verses 7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Paul asked a question, is the law sin? He said God forbid, he said the only way that he knew what sin was, was by the law.

(v.12) Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Why in the world would a Christian want to do away with something that God said is holy.

Paul says in (Rom. 4:15) Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. If there is no law there is no sin.

sinners respond to Jesus and his message of salvation , those who think themselves sinless have no need for the message of Christ.

you are really judging others heavily on this thread as a brother who also believes in coming into obedience to Christ Jesus , are you in obedience to Jesus ?

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged:

condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned:

forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall be given into your bosom.

For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:36-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

his teachings are different from the law of Moses and honestly do you know any of these folks lifestyle ? And is it your place to decide if Jesus will have them ?

Or are you only setting yourself up for a fall ?

brother it’s really good to be against sin , but just share the gospel that’s already there with folks and Jesus is able to bring them into a better way. It doesn’t happen when we imperfect people try to bludgeon others and explain they don’t have a relationship with God unless they copitulate to our own belief and standard

Just share the message that Jesus preached and sent into the world sinners will respond and then let Jesus lead them home

it’s the teachings of Christ that is where our life is and if you notice things like this , as a brother who cares for you and find some agreement in other matters with you consider the message and teachings of Jesus and see if you are actually obeying what the lord taught

Notice one man here is aware of how “righteous “ he is , and the other is seeking forgiveness and mercy because he knows he is a sinner

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other:

for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:11-14‬ ‭

Jesus is able to convert sinners to righteousness but we aren’t we need as Christians to share the message of Christ and mercy and let him correct and bring people home. He died so sinners have Hope in him alone and he will take care of the judging

I hope you receive this as it’s intended just a reminder of things you may already know. Jesus said a lot about not judging his beloved people and instead worrying about our own behavior before anything. Making sure you are walking in his ways

God bless and keep you

absolutely not.

what is the 'law' Paul immediately uses as an example in Romans 7 after saying we are no longer under the law?
the very next verse after the one you quote here?
Exodus 20:17, thou shalt not covet, the 10th commandment.

you're wrong about this, BroTan.
you are adding '
only sacrificial part' to the scripture. God, anticipating this, cut off any possible argument.

the evidence of scripture is clear.
i am sure you are only repeating what you have been taught, because what you are telling me now is a very widely known false teaching prevalent in the church today. it don't hold water.

salvation is not by our will, not by our desire, not by our intentions, not by our works.
salvation is by the mercy of God. Romans 9.

First let me say that God had Peter to clearly warn us about some of Paul’s writing. (2Peter:3:15-16) (v.15) And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; (v.16) As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Now let us take heed to this warning, we can’t ignore all the bible and just concentrate on a hand full of verses out of the writings of Paul. Because some of Paul’s writing is hard to be understood.

I can't be possible wrong about what I'm saying because A man asked Jesus this very question, "...What good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?", and Jesus replied, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. (Matthew 19:16-19). This was a direct answer to a direct question, which all of us will do well to take heed to because Paul writing can not trump Jesus words.

God bless and keep you
How long have you known these other members? years? Are they the same exact way they have always been? They are not listening ...because they don't have the ears for it. So how do we get them those ears? You tell them to clean their Temple and allow The Comforter in to start Interpreting for them. They are under the lie of man made doctrine because they all want is to keep their rotten lives instead of putting it on The Cross. ...itching ears ...not spiritual ears. They need smelling salts ...so that's what i'm doing.

You somehow think judging people that are not on The Cross is a thing ...it means they are not in The Body of CHRIST. We are not judging a Brother that actually has The HOLY SPIRIT in them.

I am No ones judge but I’ve been here about a year or so and I don’t actually know anyone’s lifestyle , but also I don’t pretend that I do , or that even if I did it would be my place to intervene in his relationship with them who believe Hope in his name

what I myself do is just mostly share scripture when I feel it’s needed in a thread d discuss the scripture with those willing to hear it

But I digress you seem pretty upset I’m thinking. Could be that you’ve been arguing for about a day now with everyone. it could be emotions speaking more than biblical thought.

Consider that Jesus welcomed sinners and invited them near , but was always rebuking the self righteous who were judging the sinners unworthy. It happens a lot in the gospel and also consider how the sinners came near when he called them , while the “ righteous “ stood far away and complained that Jesus was eating and hanging out with sinners.

Mostly the “righteous” judges demanding others meet thier standard of righteousness or we’re unworthy rejected him and his message but the sinners became his most dedicated disciples and spread the gospel that saved them and set them free.

“But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9:13

Again it’s good to be against sin , send people to Jesus and let him set them free it doesn’t work when we try to make them agree to our standard they have thier own and belong to him just the same even at thier worst , that’s who he came to save

he’s the only one worthy to judge , if he has led you to perfection , the. Send them to Jesus and let him don e same for them but first examine his words in the gospel and see if that perfection is a mirage

You confuse sinners of JESUS' Time as a Human ...with these people that claim to be Christians today. "sinning-Christians" ...is who you think JESUS was talking about? They want sympathy for their repeated willful sins ...they don't get to use His Name.

sinners respond to Jesus and his message of salvation , those who think themselves sinless have no need for the message of Christ.

you are really judging others heavily on this thread as a brother who also believes in coming into obedience to Christ Jesus , are you in obedience to Jesus ?

Just share the message that Jesus preached and sent into the world sinners will respond and then let Jesus lead them home

it’s the teachings of Christ that is where our life is and if you notice things like this , as a brother who cares for you and find some agreement in other matters with you consider the message and teachings of Jesus and see if you are actually obeying what the lord taught

if you can imagine ... a believer who has followed Christ -- out of all sin -- what they would say to others ... who they look at now with even better eyes (nothing in their eyes to block vision).

they would be trying to get people to wake up where they are lukewarm (walking in partial darknesses of mind and Spirit). they would be calling them to the actual Kingdom of God -- not to a belief about God (whichever one they believe in that isn't completely true I Cor. 13:12).

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
