Bible Study Isaiah 52

It was suggested I start with prophesy from the Old Testament so here goes. I ask that if you disagree, please don't say your wrong but show me from scripture why you thank I am off base. I might be and that would not be good. I thank I have it right.

Isaiah 52

Verses cut and pasted from Biblehub.com 52:1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean It is no longer going to be this way things are going to change. Christ is going to reign. What are these beautiful garments? They are the gospel armor written about in Ephesians chapter 6. The main thing you want to remember of the armor it's required that all of it, Christ is your shield, your salvation is your helmet. With Christ as your shield He protects you, and stops anything that might come toward you to hurt you. Why is your salvation your helmet because it protects your head, and what is in your head? Your brain Revelation 9:4 is a reference to this. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only those men which have not the seal of God in there foreheads. What does the helmet cover? From about the eyebrows around to your ears over your head to about the bottom of your nick. What is it that hold your paints up? It is the girt and what is that? The truth the word of God. So don't ever thank you are wasting your time studying the word of God, or worse yet just forget to study it, and say I will just learn it in church. It is this Gospel armor, the truth of Gods word that keeps you faithful during the times of the end. It keeps you from being deceived by the false one and his workers. Verse 2.Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion. Shake off everything that offends, false teaching false doctrine. Get yourself lose, or free from confusion. Let the pure word of God and His truth into your mind and hart. Jerusalem is Gods favorite place not only here on earth but in the entire universe. Reference Ezekiel 16. This is where Jesus is going to return to and where God shall set up His eternal kingdom; For wherever God is that is where Heaven is. Verse 3.For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money. You sold yourself out to confusion, to bad leadership, bad religions. You sold yourself but you are going to be bought back by the blood of Christ. Christ is going to take it (Jerusalem) back as Lord of Lords and King of Kings what a time to live in; The generation of the fig tree as we look forward to these things knowing that we are at that time. Verse 4. For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause. He (the Assyrian) kind of over did it. The Assyrian took the 10 tribes of Israel captive 600 years BC. Verse 6. Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed. God is reasoning with Himself here. You will not see this very often. He is saying what am I going to do about this that my people are taken away for no reason. The howling is not done by Gods children it is done by the enemy. They lord it over Gods people. Verse 6. Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I. In other words when God speaks to his elect through His word to His children this is what He is going to say, this is what I am going to do. I am going to talk to them. When He speaks He speaks through the prophets, the apostles, His elect. They get the message to the troops that will listen. That is the topic here wake up and listen to Me. Verse 7.How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! This is not some fake, or some fluke not some flyaway doctrine; But Our Heavenly Father Yahweh He reigns. Whose feet are these? It started with John who was in the spirit of Elijah and Christ Himself that brought that salvation. One was beheaded the other crucified, but He never left us. That my be difficult for a non believer to understand but not for a true christian (follower of Christ) one who hears the voice of God when He speaks through His word, His prophets ect. Verse 8. Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion. This is what a watchman if for, to watch for the times and the seasons, they watch for the coming of the false one, the watch out for false teachings. That is the job of a watchman of God. When these things come to pass and we see Jesus eye to eye and face to face. The great minor prophet Zechariah 14:4 And His feet (Jesus's feet) shall stand in that day upon the Mt. of Olives which is before Jerusalem on the east . . . The watchman, Gods elect, those that follow and serve him this is why it says at the start Awake, awake. God is saying wake up pay attention to My word. Verse 9. Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem. This has not happened yet. The redemption is coming but the false messiah must come first and make his stand as it is written in 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2, Mark 13, Matthew 24. The son of perdition shall stand there, but it will be cleansed in this future time being spoken of here. Verse 10. The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. What this means is you make your arm bare when you are ready to war. This is announcing Armageddon and even Haman GOG. Our Father fights those battles and when He bares that arm that is it. You as a Child of God don't have to worry about a thing you will be protected just like the 3 Hebrew children in the fiery furnace heated up 7 times hotter than normal, and when they came out you could not even smell smoke on them. Those that don't love and serve Him those that He is displeased with better look out. The eyes of the nations are going to see all this happen. When that 7th trump sounds every knee will bow. Verse 11. Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD. Get out of confusion, touch no unclean thing. You that hold the truth the Holy Truth of God Word don't you be touching unclean things. That is the traditions of men that make void the word of God, false teachings and things that blaspheme Gods word. You stay the true course of Gods word. You leave the garbage of religions, traditions of men to those that want to follow after it. You stay with Gods word. It is written “God is not the author of confusion” Verse 12. For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward. You are not going to fly away this rapture thing is not in God's word. The Lord God goes before you to clear the way and He also makes sure the rear is covered also. When you do it His way He guards you all the way around. Verse 13. Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high. Shall deal prudently: that means prosperously. He shall be exalted and extolled: That is the Lord Jesus Christ. Verse 14. As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: Astonied: Shocked. The last of this verse is talking about how Jesus was treated, He was beaten, spat upon, He was crucified, His arms pulled out of there sockets. He went through all that for you, for me. He who was innocent did all that and so much more for us without a complaint. Verse 15. So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider. They are going to come face to face with the Lord Jesus Christ when the 7th trump sounds and this one returns, and again every knee is going to bow and many of them it will simply be from shock and awe. He (the Assyrian) kind of over did it. The Assyrian took the 10 tribes of Israel captive 600 years BC.

God is reasoning with Himself here. You will not see this very often. He is saying what am I going to do about this that my people are taken away for no reason. The howling is not done by Gods children it is done by the enemy. They lord it over Gods people.

I know it says a bible study of Isaiah but with what you put in bold it is as if God used you to give a prophecy at least that is what I get the sense of

Have a problem with vrs 12 and its explanation. Could you elaborate?

Yes I knew you never intentionally would give a prophecy you are far to humble for that my friend and if it was indeed a prophecy perhaps that was why you were used to give it. I am going to re read it and make sure I did not misread it as I know with my eye damage it makes things difficult to read and sometimes grasp but if I was right I believe it involves both the church and israel

I would also like to say I treasure your love and student like mind for the word and is why I believe you are one of the few I would accept to be in the role of a teacher should you ever decide to take such a role for the best kind of teachers have the minds of a student.

What are these beautiful garments? They are the gospel armor written about in Ephesians chapter 6. The main thing you want to remember of the armor it's required that all of it, Christ is your shield, your salvation is your helmet. With Christ as your shield He protects you, and stops anything that might come toward you to hurt you. Why is your salvation your helmet because it protects your head, and what is in your head? Your brain Revelation 9:4 is a reference to this.

And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only those men which have not the seal of God in there foreheads. What does the helmet cover? From about the eyebrows around to your ears over your head to about the bottom of your nick. What is it that hold your paints up? It is the girt and what is that? The truth the word of God. So don't ever thank you are wasting your time studying the word of God, or worse yet just forget to study it, and say I will just learn it in church. It is this Gospel armor, the truth of Gods word that keeps you faithful during the times of the end. It keeps you from being deceived by the false one and his workers.

loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

Shake off everything that offends, false teaching false doctrine. Get yourself lose, or free from confusion. Let the pure word of God and His truth into your mind and hart. Jerusalem is Gods favorite place not only here on earth but in the entire universe. Reference Ezekiel 16. This is where Jesus is going to return to and where God shall set up His eternal kingdom; For wherever God is that is where Heaven is.

Verse 3. For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money.

You sold yourself out to confusion, to bad leadership, bad religions. You sold yourself but you are going to be bought back by the blood of Christ. Christ is going to take it (Jerusalem) back as Lord of Lords and King of Kings what a time to live in; The generation of the fig tree as we look forward to these things knowing that we are at that time.

He (the Assyrian) kind of over did it. The Assyrian took the 10 tribes of Israel captive 600 years BC.

To fully understand it you must consider the initial application. They were being called out of Babylon to restore Jerusalem. Many were complacent in Babylon after 70 years of captivity they had lived through extreme oppressions through changes of leadership and acceptance until they had all but been assimilated into Babylonian society and many were experiencing prosperity, position and luxury.

They were loosing their identity and were in danger of abandoning their religion and yet there was a remnant that hungered and looked for righteousness. This is the prophetic call to awake to righteousness and come out of Babylon and go restore Jerusalem and the temple. God was going to miraculously deliver them by having Cyrus of the Persian decree that they were free to go home and rebuild their city and God was calling them to awaken to the concept.

Some were thinking they were too weak and too few to do such an impossible task. There are three calls to Awake, Awake in the two chapters. They are called to awake by God, then they respond with an awakening, and put God in remembrance of His deeds of old when He took them out of Egypt, asking him to Awake, Awake, and then God calls them to Awake, Awake and promises them deliverance from Babylon.

Then, after meditating on all the details and the back and forth of the Awake, Awakes, immediate application related to the deliverance of Babylon and to come out from among her and go into the land of promise and rebuild we can properly apply it to the prophesies concerning the future Gospel of Jesus Christ and how He would deliver them in a salvation that had more than the land of Israel in mind.

"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of them" applied to those who were messengers to declare that the decree had gone out from Cyrus to let the people return to Israel.. Make a highway in the desert etc... they were going to come in and nothing was going to be able to stop them because God was going to make it happen...But also Paul applied "how beautiful are the feet of them" to the preachers of the Gospel which is a far greater mission we have. So we are also telling them to Come out from the World and Follow Christ to restore the real everlasting Kingdom and not that dirt in the middle east. But the Babylonian exile and deliverance is the shadow story that is necessary to know how to properly apply the prophetic substance story of Christ and the everlasting kingdom.

So yes the garment of salvation has to do with Christ and faith in the Gospel. The Whole armor of God all has Faith in the Gospel at its' root. The helmet of salvation means that your mind is renewed to the faith about your salvation and you don't let the devil lie to you about not being forgiven. We are those whose feet are beautiful because we are the messengers come to tell others that the decree has gone forth and the day of deliverance from the powers of darkness is here.

And there are future applications to these promises because all the world will be filled with the salvation of God and sin will be no more.

There was an application related to coming out of Babylon and coming back to restore Israel in 538BC
There was an application that applied to the first coming of Jesus and the Gospel now being proclaimed.
There is an application that applies to the many promises that we look forward to concerning the final perfection to come.
