5- Jesus cures a man who has been paralyzed for 38 years straight away and the man gets up and walks. He does it during the Sabbath so the Jews persecute him. So once again nothing is impossible for Jesus. And the religious leaders are insensitive, in fact they don’t care about the people and their suffering. In fact, they aren’t human whereas Jesus is!

6- A large crowd keeps following Jesus because of his powerful actions

John 6:2

And a large crowd kept following him, because they were observing the miraculous signs he was performing in healing the sick.”

It’s easy to understand the situation: people coming from everywhere and all the time and no time to rest for Jesus! Think about the religious leaders who were eager to defend their power at any cost as usual! We can say the same with human religious or political or economic leaders from all times!

And Jesus keeps thinking of the people and he feeds them by multiplying bread and fish (5,000 men and more with women and young children).

John 6:10,11:

Jesus said:”Have the people sit down.” As there was a lot of grass in that place, the men sat down there, about 5,000 in number. Jesus took the bread, and after giving thanks, he distributed it to those who were sitting there; he did likewise with the small fish, and they had as much as they wanted.”

Then Jesus walks on the sea to meet his disciples on a boat as if everything was normal. We can imagine the surprise of his disciples or not: imagine you spend all your time with Jesus listening to his teaching and seeing all his miracles so you know there is no limit to what he can do, so why to be surprised? Imagine drinking Jesus’ words and seeing all his reactions and every detail of his life: it would be like living every day with a teacher who can teach you everything without limit! You can learn all the time! You are never satisfied, you always want more!

John is sent as a man of God announcing the coming of Jesus who is going to be rejected by the Jews but he is going to be accepted by many people. Priests were sent to John to ask him if he was the Christ but he clearly tells them he is not but he is preparing the way for him. The next day Jesus comes to him and john speaks about the spirit above Jesus like a dove and he gives witness that Jesus is the Lamb of God. Then Two disciples of John start to follow Jesus (Andrew and Simon or Peter). New disciples are joining Jesus: Philip, Nathanael.
“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:”
‭‭Malachi‬ ‭4:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

And if ye will receive it, this is Elijah, which was for to come. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:13-15‬ ‭KJV‬

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Which shall prepare thy way before thee. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.

John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:1-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Ok

7- In John 9:1-41 Jesus cures a man who has been blind from birth on the sabbath. The Pharisees don’t want to believe it and they argue about Jesus curing on the Sabbath. But his miracles speak in favor of him. So the Pharisees ask his parents about their son and these can only say he has been blind from birth. As the former blind man tells the Pharisees nobody has ever been able to cure a blind man from birth so Jesus can only comes from God. And Jesus condemns the Pharisees because they say they see but they don’t want to see, they only want to protect their authority and their power on people.

8- The opposition of the religious leaders gets stronger because Jesus is also more critical about them and in John chapter 10 he calls them thieves and plunderers. And the religious leaders want to kill them but he always escape because his time has not come.

9- Jesus answers them by resurrecting Lazarus who has been dead for 4 days in John 11. So Jesus waits for the death of Lazarus so he can resurrect him. He knows perfectly what he is doing. He does everything on purpose and he takes advantage of each situation to represent his Father’s interests. And he says about Lazarus that “Lazarus our friend HAS FALLEN ASLEEP, but I am traveling there to AWAKEN him.” (John 11:11) JESUS IS CLEAR ABOUT DEATH ! But his disciples don’t understand so he says to them “Lazarus has died” but he will resurrect him so they can believe that he can do everything! And many Jews are there with Martha and Mary. In John 11:23 Jesus tells Martha: “Your brother will rise.” But Martha thinks that: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last days.” (John 11:24). But Jesus resurrects him.

10- John 12: As Jesus resurrected Lazarus, more and more Jews put faith in Jesus so the Jewish religious leaders get more and more jealous and they want more and more to get rid of him.

The selection of the 12 apostles:

1- John Chapter 1: John the Baptist is standing with two of his disciples and he speaks of Jesus as “the Lamb of God”. As a consequence, John’s disciples follow Jesus and they stay with him that day. One of them is Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter and he goes to his brother Simon and tells him that they have found the Messiah or Christ. Then he leads him to Jesus who tells him he will be called Cephas or Peter.

Philip finds Nathanael (4) and says to him: “We have found the one of whom Moses, in the Law, and the Prophets wrote: Jesus, the son of Joseph, from Nazareth.”But Nathanael says to him: says to him: “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip says to him: “Come and see.” Jesus sees Nathanael coming toward him and says about him: “See, truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”

Nathanael says to him: “How do you know me?” Jesus answers him: “Before Philip called you, while you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael responds: “Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are King of Israel.” Jesus answers him: “Do you believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree? You will see things greater than these.” He then says to him: “Most truly I say to you men, you will see heaven opened up and the angels of God ascending and descending to the Son of man.”

3- John only tells about Andrew, Simon Peter, Philip and Nathanael. Apparently he makes his own selection like Jesus’ miracles! Let’s see how the others do!

JOHN THE BAPTIST VS THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS

John 1:

- The Jews send priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him:

Who are you?

- And he admits it and does not deny it, saying: “I am not the Christ.”

- And they ask him: “What, then? Are you Elijah?”

- He replies: “I am not.”

- Are you the Prophet?”

- And he answers: “No!”

- “Who are you? Tell us that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”

- He says: “I am a voice of someone crying out in the wilderness, “Make the way of God straight,” just as Isaiah the prophet said.”

- Now those sent are from the Pharisees. So they questioned him and say to him: “Why, then, do you baptize if you are not the Christ or Elijah or the Prophet?”

- John answers them: “I baptize in water. One is standing among you whom you do not know, the one coming behind me, the lace of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.”

- These things take place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John is baptizing.

- The next day he sees Jesus coming toward him, and he says: “See, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one about whom I said: Behind me there comes a man who has advanced in front of me, for he existed before me.” Even I did not know him, but the reason why I came baptizing in water was so that he might be made manifest to Israel.”

- John also bears witness, saying: “I viewed the spirit coming down as a dove out of heaven, and it remained upon him. Even I did not know him, but the very One who sent me to baptize in water said to me: “Whoever it is upon whom you see the spirit coming down and remaining, this is the one who baptizes in holy spirit.” And I have seen it, and I have given witness that this one is the Son of God.”

- Again the next day, john is standing with two of his disciples, and he looks at Jesus walking, he says: “See, the lamb of God!”

- Everybody was waiting for the Christ to come at this time and especially the religious leaders that’s why they send people to John. But at their difference, he recognizes Jesus as the Christ. But they refused to recognize him because he said who they really were and he opposed them and he clearly condemned them!

- That's funny: the point is in the title!

- Now that's the extract from the Bible speaking about it!

- Of course, there are 4 extracts as there are 4 gospels!

- I never feel asleep when I read the Bible!

- Now if reading few lines from the Bible is tiring it's always possible to go to the conclusion!

- But that's another story!

- Some people think the Bible is too long, I think it's too short!

- I would have appreciated to get more details about the faithful servants of God but then people would have said "too long"!

- Maybe you should read cartoons, it's easier!

Jesus vs the religious leaders

John 2: Now The Passover of the Jews is near, and Jesus goes to Jerusalem. He finds in the temple those selling cattle and sheep and doves, and the money brokers in their seats. So after making a whip of ropes, he drives all those with the sheep and cattle out of the temple, and he pours out the coinds of the money changers and overturns their tables. And he says to those selling the doves: “Take these thingsz away from here! Stop making the house of my Father a house of commerce!” his disciples recalls that it is written: “The zeal for your house will consume me.”

- And Jesus has to do that! And the religious leaders haven’t done anything!

- What do you think he will do when he comes back because he will find the same situation?
