Holy Name Bibles have already begun to use Yahweh and Yeshua again, to Name the Father and the Son. The Son came in His Father's Name. Recall that the Angel said, "You will call His Name Yeshua (Yahweh Saves or Yahweh is Salvation), because He will save His people from their sins".

Our Lord's Old Covenant Name, the Proper Name of the Father, means "I AM WHO AM". Our Lord's New Covenant Name, the Proper Name of the Son, means "Yahweh Saves", or "Yahweh has become my Savior".

In my opinion, we should use the Personal Names of both Yahweh and Yeshua again, as there is Great Power in the Holy Name, and this Holy Name denotes the One True God.

There is an ancient Jewish Polemic called Toledot Yeshu which says Yeshua did miracles in the Name of YHWH.

From Wiki: "Yeshu later went to the Jerusalem Temple and learned the letters of God's ineffable name (one could do anything desired by them). He gathered 310 young men and proclaimed himself the Messiah, claiming Isaiah’s “a virgin shall conceive and bear a son” and other prophets prophesied about him.

Using God's name he healed a lame man, they worshipped him as the Messiah. The Sanhedrin decided to arrest him, and sent messengers to invite him to Jerusalem. They pretended to be his disciples to trick him."
I would not give much credence at all to this ancient Jewish Polemic because, once again, it is diverting our thoughts away from who Elohim is and is separating, very subtle, Jesus the Messiah from Elohim = the Word was Elohim from the Beginning.

This ancient story is ever so subtle that most would not pick up on it.

What our LORD taught us is this: "It is written" and John ch17

This post caught my attention. Yes they were respectful of His name but history shows over and over they were not respectful of Him. So like the christians of today putting a false face forward playing the game. Divorce, abortion, moneychangers, lookin holy one day a week.
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Thank you Beckie,
Academia of man is always seeking to prove itself as superior to faith in the Word and the Holy Spirit.

I read a lot of this subject with interest. Some of it, however, is just language. The critical element in the "name" of God does not appear to be a matter of getting the name technically correct. After all, when we transliterate into another language, sometimes the name changes. And if the name, as such, is so important, changing the spelling or the pronunciation would be a sin. And I certainly don't think that it is.

So what is the import of God's concern over His *name?* It is the matter of identifying that He is the correct and only God, as opposed to the names of other gods, or idols. It was very important for God to have Israel serve only Him, and no other god!

That is what "name" really means to me. It means identifying the proper God, whether we use the word "God," or "Lord," or whatever. It isn't technically his Christian name or his surname. No, it is *identifying Him* as the right God that matters in focusing upon His name, in my opinion. And the "name" of God can be ascertained by *context,* and not just be a proper name.

The rest of the conversation about how God's name was spelled out to Moses is interesting and relevant. But it shouldn't somehow convey mystical qualities upon a particular spelling or pronunciation. God's purpose in avoiding any other name than "I Am" was apparently to avoid any confusion between God and graven images, or false earthly depictions.

To call Himself "I Am" was to express the importance of declaring His existence to a world that had turned away from the knowledge of God except for the grace of God's word that continues to reach out to mankind with a new offer of righteousness.

Exo 20.2 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them

that is interesting - and He, the self-existing-one, would be the one who 'gives' it . . .

and He gave us of His Spirit, which calls out in us to Him, by a name, "Abba"
-- why not the ineffable name?
this is what He chose for us, in this time & age
it's to much like Isaac greeting his father, "good morning, Abraham.' I mean, I understand Abraham is considered our father though we call him Abraham, but his and Isaac's is an immediate relationship, as ours should be to Abba.

But then again, few have many good examples of father/son relationships these days

Anyway, I just think it is important for me to understand the identity of who I call God, Lord, Master, Creator, etc.
And God became flesh.
That's understandable and I can't begrudge your conscience, but it strikes me as a bit too, idk, Rumplestilskinny to me.

Did God say His Name is IAM???

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” 15Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’

Does God say that IAM is the Name for all generations or did HE say:
Elohim Abraham
Elohim Issac
Elohim Jacob
This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’

"Go ye therefore baptizing them in the NAME of the FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT."

I do not see anywhere in ACTS or the Apostles writings teaching us to call on the name of IAM.

The LORD Himself said of Himself: "before Abraham IAM" but never instructed us to pray in IAM but we are instructed to pray in the NAME above all names - Jesus the Christ = in ALL languages.

So we see IAM instructing Moses to say "IAM" has sent me. Then when they ask "who is IAM"? Moses, and ourselves, are to refer to His NAME: Elohim Abraham Elohim Isaac Elohim Jacob

JESUS, the same IAM speaking to Moses, repeats HIS same Words that HE spoke to Moses:
"Go ye therefore baptizing them in the NAME of the FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT."

Nail...Meet Hammer!
You explained it beautifully! It's about recognition and identity. Not about how you address him. Not about pronunciation.
I particularly love how you included the first 3 commandments in which includes His written name.

Bunnies? for Ishtar?
As a pagan Germanic goddess of spring and fertility, Eostra was the symbol of the rabbit. I was gonna
say, perhaps the raising up of bunnies for Easter is for a stew, but no good Jew would eat such. Nor I
;)

1 Peter 1:3~ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has
given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1 Corinthians 15:21~ For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.

Romans 6:3~ Or aren’t you aware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?

From 1 Cor 15:14-18

God says "tell them YHWH Elohim of Abraham, Elohim of Isaac, Elohim of Jocob...
This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations
Read it again - And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” 15Moreover God said to Moses,
“Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.

What is the the THUS ???
THUS is THIS = the YHWH of Abraham/Father, YHWH of Isaac/Son,YHWH of Jacob/Holy Spirit, has sent me to you.
This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’

No matter how you try and avoid, divert and missalign the TRUTH/the NAME of God , God has a voice to declare it.

I do not see anywhere in ACTS or the Apostles writings teaching us to call on the name of IAM.

JESUS the VOICE of ELOHIM/God that declares to us HIS Name
The LORD Himself said of Himself: "before Abraham IAM" but never instructed us to pray in IAM but we are instructed to pray in the NAME above all names - Jesus the Christ = in ALL languages.

So we see IAM instructing Moses to say "IAM" has sent me. Then when they ask "who is IAM"? Moses, and ourselves, are to refer to His NAME: Elohim Abraham Elohim Isaac Elohim Jacob

JESUS, the same IAM speaking to Moses, repeats HIS same Words that HE spoke to Moses:
"Go ye therefore baptizing them in the NAME of the FATHER(Abraham), SON(Isaac) and HOLY SPIRIT(Jacob)."

Search the Gospels, Acts and the Letters - What is the NAME of God that we are to call upon? to Baptized in? to Preach in?

Whose witness are you? YHWH or JESUS the CHRIST

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

The Holy Spirit is speaking to you and everyone on here - know My Name = Jesus Christ the Savior= IAM, the Word, Elohim, YHWH

You are My witnesses,” says the Lord,
“And My servant whom I have chosen,
That you may know and believe Me,
And understand that I am He.
Before Me there was no God formed,
Nor shall there be after Me.
I, even I, am the Lord,
And besides Me there is no savior.

“Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.
It actually reads thusly: “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: The Lord YHWH God Elohim of your fathers, the God Elohim of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.
God
and Elohim are perfectly interchangeable because is a general term meaning "heavenly being" or similar.
YHWH (what is actually written) and "the Lord" are not interchangeable in grammar. YHWH is a Proper Noun, the Lord is not. It is a general noun meaning "master" or such.

Here is an idea:
If we believe Jesus Christ to be God (I'm sure most of us can get on board)
Let's replace YHWH with "Jesus Christ" throughout the Hebrew scriptures.
Seriously, the read would make much more sense, I think.

I'm not a preacher. There is ample evidence here that I probably would not be good at it.
I think there is a difference between teaching/preaching and discussion between students of scripture.
There is a time and a place for each. Personal Testimony is the most effective preaching (imho).
I'm not trying to win people over to Jesus on this thread. I assumed that everyone here is saved and seeking to expand their knowledge and understanding. You know, getting closer to God. I probably should have stated that at the outset.
I'm new at this so please bear with me while I learn the ropes.
For those of us who are here on earth...we are not ....SAVED.
The Bible says....it is appointed unto man once to die...then the judgement.
If we are saved while on this earth...what is God judging?

The 14 + pages on this topic would be better served discussing and understanding what ....ed....means (saved).

Hopefully you mean ....born again.

Think again;
In that instance God would be Jewish and not believe in Christ.

Concluding your vision is applicable.....how do you propose to make that fit?
