Are you kidding me?

wow...

And his wife too. She who believes women are nothing better then uterus and slaves for women and is teaching her children the same. And writes a blog to teach other women the same. How to leave your brain at the door and be nothing but a servant for your husband even when you resent it. And he who believes that shooting Mexicans who are entering the border is border control. Oh yes, my "love for him" is strong. I can't even imagine a worse way to bring people to Christianity than him and his wife, who have left more than 1/2 a dozen churches because the people didn't like what they had to say.

I'll stop now. Ray Comfort, the younger Pat Robertson.

I have to say, I don't care for Aussie accents myself, but Ray Comfort, Banana man or not, has done a lot to bring people into the kingdom. I find nothing in him I can readily denounce.

Personally, it depends on the person and situation.

Actions speak louder than words. I don't expect non-believers to have the same morals, etc. as true believers. So it really doesn't accomplish much to be up in their face saying "You shouldn't do this, or that, yadda yadda." However, I'm not going to lie to them and tell them I approve of anything I don't. I've had people say "you're different" etc. etc. and that can open up the conversation about God. It's up to them whether they want to listen or consider it or not though. It's their choice.

One thing that bothers me I see and hear A LOT these days is the whole idea that we are a good witness only if we are everybody's friend and buddy, and everyone likes us, etc. etc. Love peace and chicken grease...whatever.. Of course we should love. We're called to it..
However, I realize not everyone is going to like me because of who I am in Christ. Can't be everybody's buddy, and some will even hate me. The world hated Jesus too. The creation certainly isn't greater than the creator.
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. " - Jesus, John 15:18

So love, but be realistic about it. That's how I see it. If someone says they don't want God, I'm going to still treat them nicely. If they say they don't want God or anything to do with me either, then see you later.

Of course when it comes to talking to people who claim to be believers already, that's totally different. They should be held to a higher standard. I'm not sure if that falls under "witnessing" though.

I don't want to argue with you. I have been dealing with Ray Comfort for over a year now and his ever precious wife. But I really don't want to argue with you as I have seen this site go into before. It will just be a u-turn conversation that I am sure we are both too tired for.

I am sorry we disagree on this. But I will never agree that this man, his ministry or anything he preaches is
good for the cause. I've seen too much.

I can't find anything on the internet about the two portions I have bolded. Where do these come from? I am genuinely curious.

I'm sorry your experience has been negative but, if we are going to talk about witnessing than this is kind of the Elephant in the room.

We are all Christians, its part of the great commission and something that would should feel good about doing. A lot of people are afraid to talk about their faith, they are afraid that they are going to be asked a question that they cannot answer or that they will be labeled as a proselytizer. But the gift of God's grace is not something to be ashamed of, it is something to be found like the Parable of the guy who finds a treasure in a field, sells all that he owns to buy the field.

In understand that a lot of Christians are new and they don't know how to even begin to approach talking about their faith with other people. There is a lot of tools online that can help but, it is the personal interaction with people that is going to help the most.

I don't know why it would become an elephant in the room. If you would like to discuss it, which I can see becoming an argument in about 4 posts, I will more than happily join that thread. But this isn't that forum. This is simply a topic about styles, and how people find it comfortable for them to witness.

But I don't want new, old seasoned or unseasoned even Christians looking at a thread that started about styles digress into two people arguing over a public figure. You have said yourself you hate to see threads dwindle into bad territory, I think we can agree that is already going there now.

I like to wear shirts with bright colors and quotes from the bible or inspirational sayings on them. It draws attention and gets people thinking or asking questions. Inquiring minds want to know. I wouldn't say it is behind the scenes because I don't hide my faith, but also, I am not aggressive or intruding. That can be a real turn off to your witness.

There are various ways to witness to different kinds of people. God gives us what we need to say in the moment.

I must admit I would like to hear your reasoning for not like Ray comfort or his wife (haven't a clue who she is here).

I have watched his programs, website etc along with Kirk Cameron, I think they do a great service of warning people, and telling them of Christs great love. But, I can only say that from watchign the prgram/reading the webiste. It's the only info I have.

It would be good if you could share allforfun?

What would be even better is to hear about peoples' witness and how they like to go about it.....

That is what I was hoping for.

I will answer my own question.

I am a behind the scenes person. I have seen so much abuse in the church, by the church that people hear "Christian" and automatically laugh. There are better ways. If I have a friend who has a lost someone, I will go over to their house and do some laundry and cook a meal. Offer to babysit if needed.

I am not in disagreement with people are more verbal. I just know for my personality, that never worked. I needed a hug not someone telling my sins were sending me to hell.

In a lot of instances actions speak louder than words. We need to be the ones to set the example of a true christ-like being. Shine our light before men, so that they may see it, and give glory to our Father in heaven. In my experience, love is the most powerful witness of all.

I take more of a direct approach, but also a background appraoch aswell.

What changed my mind, was that someone pointed out that non christians can do acts of love..sometimes better than Christians. So I try and balance both backing up the gospel truth with living in Christ or actions.

It all depends, I think different people will prefer or be called to different methods of evangelizing. Also different situations can dictate.

Yes, and often the non christians (even christians) who commit acts of love are doing it out of self-gratification, and to glorify themselves instead of God (sometimes w/out even realizing it). I can usually tell the difference. When somebody tells me "Thankyou" I reply with "Don't thank me, thank God" or Praise God so that He recieves the glory.

I guess the difference between the Christian and non christian acts of love is where the love is coming from.
