I never really thought about my "favorite" Easter type movie, but a really good movie about the crucifixion and resurrection is "Risen"... it tells the story from the perspective of a Roman centurion, who witnessed the crucifixion and death, then was put on a mission to find where the apostles "hid the body" when it was discovered missing..
.... in this movie, the actor that portrays Jesus actually looks like he was from Judea, instead of looking like Peter Frampton....
I enjoyed it...

ohhhh! It's claymation, like Davey & Goliath (or even Gumby).
My kids really like that style.
Can't wait to show them this one.
Thanks!
It fluctuates between claymation and animation throughout the video.

Still, looks like a good one for my kiddo to watch too.
Yeah, it's definitely good for kids.

My kids all saw it when they were younger.

See if you can guess my favorite scene after watching it...

P.S.

No big "spoiler", but a kid is basically the focal point of the video, so it should keep your children engaged.

okay, remind me to do this in about a week or 2, since I don't know when we'll watch it.
(that is, IF I watch it...... I usually sleep during movies  )

My kids stay glued to The Robe, 10 Commandments (Charlton Heston one) and Ben Hur.
Basically, if it's in line with scripture they tune in.

"The Robe" is definitely one of my favorite movies ever.

Quite frankly, I think that Hollywood did a better job of showing the persecution that is associated with true Biblical Christianity than "Christian" filmmakers do today (if they even broach the topic at all).

I have to say this...just for honesty's sake...and not to be contentious...

Someone here mentioned the movie "Risen".

That was one of the worst movies that I've ever seen...especially as far as being "in line with scripture" or being Biblically accurate is concerned

I literally posted a warning on social media after seeing that movie.

It was that bad.

Here's a good Christian movie that is only about 30 minutes long.

You can click where it says "CC" on the video to remove the closed captioning.

I saw that when I was a teenager (or very young adult)
but didn't know the name of it.
The story and lesson in it stayed with me though.
I was so excited when i finally found it online (after much searching using just detailed words) about a year ago.
Definitely worth the 30 min or so to watch.

Yeah.

I've probably seen that one about 7 or 8 times myself.

I'm surprised that you haven't mentioned THE Christian movie.

You know...THAT one.

Hint, hint.

Nudge, nudge.

FUNNY you should mention THAT one
I was thinking about mentioning it earlier (another one my kids tune seriously into) I was going to edit/add it to my list a few post back, but had to take care of some things, and figured "oh well, another time perhaps"

Speaking of, you'll never guess what I just put on right before coming back on here.

Wanna guess?

Well, do ya?

Huh?
Huh?
Huh?

Ohhhhh! You don't have to guess?
You already know, don't chya? :p

Well, in case anyone else is wondering (and this is probably my # 1 fave movie)

Lol.

I knew you were going to ask me that.

I saw that movie in the theater the night that it opened.

All that I remember is that I found it to be very unscriptural.

Whenever I see "Christian" movies that are really bad, I literally pray for God to purge my memory of it in the blood of Jesus.

I spend the bulk of my time in the Bible itself, and I don't like anything competing against the word of God in mind.

I'm sorry, but that's all that I can honestly say.

No, that's fine, no worries.... I was just curious. I saw the movie as a pretty accurate depiction of what the apostles were very likely thinking, and wondering, in their travels with Jesus.
The centurion asked one of them "why do you follow him"..... and in the background, Jesus was going to the leper that had been driven away, and kneeling down and embracing him. After that, the leper stood up and walked away, looking back, with an obviously healed face.... and the apostle said " THAT'S why we follow him"

I thought it was a very powerful moment, and it showed (IMO) what the apostles were living, every day...

I suppose I don't worry so much about a movie being 100% accurate, scripturally.... if you wait for that, you will likely never watch ANY movie dealing with Biblical themes. All the movies mentioned have some "unscriptural" parts in them... I just tend to overlook it and enjoy the "story".

I will NOT watch movies that depict things that are truly wrong.... I heard of a movie that depicted Jesus and Mary as being romantically involved, or that Jesus was gay, etc... that kind of garbage I will NOT watch.
