Those who have become disciples of Jesus have no need to serve the Law of the 1st Covenant. "Righteous men" are not bound by the Law. The Law was NOT MADE for a righteous man.

The Apostle Paul taught Timothy thus:

1 Timothy, Chapter 1:

4) Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

5) Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

6) From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

7) Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

8) But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

9) Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

10) For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

11) According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

Romans, Chapter 3:
19) Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

20) Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

21) But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

22) Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24) Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
John, Chapter 6:
38) For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39) And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40) And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

DILEMNA #1: In accord with your OP, the LORD says: "For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven."

DILEMNA #2: What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;"

RESOLUTION: There is Only One Righteous Man that can make us righteous and acceptable unto Elohim

But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.
Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him,
not having my own righteousness, which is from the law,
but that which is through faith in Christ,
the righteousness which is from God by faith;
