why is this important

how bout someone pays $44 billion to buy CC

or...gives $44 billion to set up libraries where there arent any.

though I never knew any one person could even have that much money

It's highly political... We really don't know what Elon has in mind, but he just bought the single most influential public address in the world. AND... since he seems to be so neutral, he can profit no matter which way the political winds blow. That's a LOT of influence.

but everyone hates twitter I dont know anyone who bothers with it except ppl who like to rant a lot and self-promote

I think social media has positive, and negative effects. It has been a long time since I owned a Facebook, Twitter or other account.
I have found that these services often bring out negative aspects of lives, and distorted trues.
I hope Mr Musk finds the balance between floral truths, and actual truths.
I would be interested to know if there has been any changes since the acquisition.

I don't think he actually owns it yet, it's a process to transfer assets such as this and the $44B.

Oh, I see. I assume it will take a short while for the ownership to change, and the management to be restructured.

I think they’ll end up married and having cute little Elon and AOC babies. :love:

That's called responsible patriotism, involvement lol... But seriously, that's the whole point. Now Elon is going to consolidate and control that.

No. I joined the day after acquisition and made 2 grossly politically incorrect posts on Elon's threads... Nobody has seen them.

Floral truth... never heard that one. I assume that's speech that is flowery but not necessarily true? Is it rooted in fertilizer truth - the kind that's just pure BS? :D

This video goes into the fact that Musk has business dealings with China and how that might influence him to spread propaganda for china. Let's hope he doesn't but it doesn't look good.

But it's not just China that Elon is looking at. Public opinion equals votes. Potentially, Elon could play "public mediator" for the WORLD. That is WAY too much consolidated influence.

This is correct. Where I am from, if we say 'floral truth', this means warped, and over-stretched. It is not the whole truth, but certain aspects fabricated. One could say 'BS' in a certain manner.
