Empty Tomb Challenge!

Typically, I'm not interested in what non-messianic Jews have to say about Christian scriptures, but on occasion, these "counter-missionaries" do have good questions. I don't say they have good "points" because their challenges will never go unanswered for long- and the question may be worth a good answer.

Rabbi Tovia Singer here, asks why are these ladies going into a tomb trying to anoint Jesus' dead body so long after he is dead.

The first thing I noticed here- is that our Jewish friend has added to the scripture . It does not say they took the spices "To anoint the body".
I'm guessing they took the spices, because, like the men, they were not really all that full of faith- they had the spices so they didn't smell a rotting corpse just in case Jesus' dead body was still there when they walked in.

But if anybody has another insight, I'd be interested to hear.

Never allow yourself to guided by unbelievers in their questioning.
Listen to what they are asking and/or disputing and then rely on the Holy Spirit guiding.

Do the Jewish thing = answer with a question of your own.
OR
Ask them: why has 'Hashem' taken the Temple away from them for, IDK, 2000 YEARS!!!
When was the last time their rebe Schneerson rose from the dead....
Do they know who Elohim Avram Elohim Yichsach Elohim Yakov is.....
Who is the Prophet Moishe spoke of that they must hear and obey....
Keep bringing up 2,000 YEARS is a long time for Hashem not to speak......OR....has HE spoken???

Be like the LORD = turn the tables on them using their own Scriptures.

How does bread crumbs thrown in a lake remove their sins? When did Moishe or the Prophets ever suggest this?
When was the last time they broke the Sabbath?

After Joseph lay Jesus in the tomb ...the women left, they did not know Nicodemus came to prepare the body

High Day Special sabbath …No work to be done

Nisan 16 Friday

Mar 16:1 the day after the special sabbath The women purchased the spices but could not anoint Jesus on Friday due to the guards and the sealed tomb.

Nisan 17 Saturday

Weekly sabbath-

Towards the close of the weekly sabbath the women came to gaze upon the tomb.

Mat 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see (gaze) the sepulchre.

A better translation from the Greek reads … Now late on the sabbath as it was getting dusk. The word dawn = epiphōskō is used biblically of dusk as seen in Luk 23:54.

Before sunset on the 17th and after the women had departed there was a great earthquake …Jesus Was raised….3 days and 3 nights.



Nisan 18 Sunday

The women came ready to prepare the body.

FAQ: If the women of Matt 27:61, Matt 28:1 and Mark 16:1 were fully aware
that Jesus (a.k.a. Y'shua) had already been adequately spiced, why would
they come back later with more?

REPLY: Christ was well-loved and admired by quite a few people; including
an entourage of anonymous women (Mark 15:40-41). It's to be expected
that some of his female friends would want an active part in his burial; like
when people toss their own personal little handful of dirt on top of a casket.
It's friends' and family's way of saying good-bye and obtaining closure.

Mary Magdalena was especially fond of Jesus and very upset when she was
led to believe his body had been moved before she had a chance to add her
own spices. True; his corpse didn't need her spices. It already had a
wheelbarrow load of stuff smeared on it. But don't you see: none of those
spices were Mary's spices.

Some people just don't get it because there's a great big void right through
the middle of them where a heart is supposed to be.
