What if it would never work out? Oh, but, what if it really DID?

What would the "IT" be in your life?

lol it took me a while to catch on what you were aying.

Mmmmmm. apart from Christ that 'IT' would be central to every action I take.

The 'IT' would be who I would serve in leadership (I take it, you are refering to a spouse), that sounds Ideal, and it is the ideal, it would take hard work and effort, to serve 'IT' (continuing effort)

"IT" is a relationship with someone I've known forever. Neither of us have ever really pushed for anything but, lately its been both of us dropping hints about if our timing was right. So, "IT" is part of the reason I'm single. I know that I'm not ready for "IT" and I also know that I would destroyed if I found out that "IT" would have worked out but, I jumped the gun.

"apart form Christ"????? IT is impossible! I'm sure you didn't mean that the way it sounded

LOL! Sorry for the enigma, Phil. I saw this on a poster and it stuck in my mind, and I was thinking most of us probably have an "IT" in our lives. Kinda wondering if the Lord was trying to tell me something... El said it sounded like a good idea for a thread. I think she's right. :)

An IT may or may not be another person, such as a gf/bf/spouse. It could simply be a dream you've had that you thought probably wouldn't come true - anything from becoming a missionary in a faraway land to adopting a child to opening your own business.

As an example, my IT would be traveling the world and sharing Christ through music. This was something I wanted to do in my teen years, but my mom (who was a backup singer who toured with some very famous country artists and eventually became a teacher/sociologist) convinced me that was not a life God would want for me. I'm older now and realize that singing for the Lord is a whole lot different than singing about trucks/ex-wives/honkytonks/lost dogs. :) Now I find myself wondering if the timing was just wrong since wherever I go I seem to be drawn more and more into the world of praise & worship.

Liamson, there are indeed times when, even though we are single, our hearts are still taken/unavailable. Mine was like that for a time. I thought that life had played a cruel trick on me by giving me so much happiness up front only to have it disappear. I thought I would never love again like that and wasn't sure I wanted to even if I could. But, then, someone came along and had the guts to get up in my face and tell me that he "wasn't used to being ignored." (exact words haha) And my heart began to thaw out little by little. I still love that one very much and probably always will. Maybe someday his priorities will shift and he will become as close to the Lord as I would need him to be in order to build a life with him. Maybe not. Maybe he was just an instrument God used to show me that my life didn't stop 6 years ago when I became a widow. Maybe tomorrow someone else will smile at me and steal my heart away. Maybe not. :) Life is full of surprises. They're pretty awesome. I hope some awesomeness shows up for you. :)

Lol, I have to admit the more I read the question the more confused I got.....

Well, At moment I'm doing study through bible college.. Hopefully get my degree.. I enjoy it. The main reason is I feel led in thsi direction.. i'm not sure a preacher, I'm not sure YET! is that an IT ??? lol

And if you need a guitarist, to help with the singing I'm your man, lol. I actually get the chance now and again to play in worship group for youth events..I love it. I played the club circuit from I was 14 till about 28... Shift work killed it, plus Iw asn't saved then either.

Anyhow, you have me thinking, I'm off to think about my 'IT' lol

If "IT" worked out I would have more peace, more restful nights, more happy thoughts, more dancing, more singing, more fun, more joy.

Good thing there's a possiblility that "IT" can still work out.

Since this is a christian forum, I suppose I thought that would be a given. :)

I think you are digging for the "Right Answer" and there isn't one. "It" is not a quiz or a test "It" is whatever possibility you once held onto and if "It" came true would bring you immense and immeasurable Joy.

Salvation, Grace, Fruit etc. I feel isn't an "it" an "It" is like if you were poor and living in Guatemala and dreamed of living in America.

Like if you watch the Little Mermaid, when Ariel sings "Part of your world" that was her "It"

I think the "IT" is anything that you want or wanted to happen but may or may not have happened. So how would your life be different if the "IT" did or did not happen.

EX: If I would have finished college then maybe...
If "IT" worked out with Ronnie, then I would be...

Love this.

All of my "it"'s have to with kids as well. I want to adopt as many kids as the Lord will financially allow. I want a home that kids see as a "safe haven" of sorts and feel loved. I want to be a kind of "neighborhood mom" who has the comfy couch to cry on, always an extra bed to spend the night, and an extra place at the table.

I also feel called to teach in a Latin country. And I dream of eventually teaching a bilingual class and being my own interpreter.

But we'll see. :)
