this is all true, but, however, anything other than " believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved" is not Biblical truth.
that is a delicious cherry :)
He did make cherries for food, after all.

i've been leafing through this thread and wondering to myself, does Paul pick cherries?
thinking about how he quoted Habakkuk 3 times in the NT, "
the just shall live by faith" -- never giving context with it from the prophet but just lifting it out.
not that his citation of it is misapplied, of course -- but if Paul were posting in the BDF instead of having written these things in the Book, wouldn't there be complaints directed at him, for the same things in the OP lament?
or how in Galatians 4 he takes the story of Abraham, Hagar and Sarah and calls it a portrait of law vs. grace: imagine he just makes a thread about that here and we don't have the epistle of Galatians. wouldn't he be sharply criticized for taking things out of context and eisegetical interpretation, disregarding Ancient culture etc??

hmm
just musing about whether cherries aren't delicious

I agree with what you said.

Spending a period of time on a Christian website and especially on a Bible discussion forum, is a real eye opener.

So many different interpretations of the scripture.

So many denominations in Christianity and, at times, extremely different Church organizations.

Given the New Testament is composed of say 26 letters. Half of these letters are small letters, give or take a few pages. The content of these letters is a simple text, addressed to mostly uneducated audiences. These are first century letters.

How is it even possible to end up with conflicting interpretations?
good question. i think this comes from the fact that many bible verse contradicts itself if you just pit two verses against each other.

for example:

1 John 3:8
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

these are in the same book. no author is foolish enough to just write two contradicting statements like this in the same book. so what comes from this is that people dont harmonize the bible with the totality of it. and you have one side of the people quoting the verse below to excuse their living in sin and total rebellion against God, and you have the other side quoting the verse above preaching sinless perfection and if you sin you just aren't saved, no one is saved (except for they of course)

this is how these problems arise. another similar situation:

Romans 2:13
For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified.

Romans 3:20
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

here we are again. one side posting the other verse etc.... this contradiction can easily be solved by reading the context, without chapter breaks its clear that what st.paul says in Romans 2:13 is true, if you do the law of God you will be justified, but if you keep reading you notice the problem is that both jews and gentiles have not kept the law and they both need God's grace to forgive them their sins and that is why in actuality, by deeds of the law no one will be justified.

Romans 3:9-10
What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;

hope this answers some questions. i know these are just couple verses, but this is how different demonations and interpretations come.

A discussion of that long list would take way-too-many posts - I don't believe it belongs in this thread - too much of a derail.

If you really want to pose the question for discussion, go start a thread dedicated to only that.
How can it possibly not belong in this thread? You complain about something of importance then don’t support it with examples.

The middle ground is to try not to sin but don’t claim to be sinless. I believe that’s what God expects.

Here's a good one (Mt 24:31): And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

There are many who mistakenly apply this to the Rapture when it is actually about the Second Coming of Christ and the gathering of believing Israel -- "the elect" -- to the land of Israel. The Rapture had already taken place at least 7 years before this.
Thank you for taking time to share an example of Scripture. Much appreciated.

thats exactly true. same thing with simeon quoting david's tabernacle will be rebuilt and saying it was talking about the times they were living in and how gentiles came to faith.

Homemade peach ice cream Gotta be the angels choice
I'm with ya on that one. I was at the former Governors house of our state, he and his wife (who has passed) wonderful Christian people. And they made their own peach ice cream, the old fashioned way and that is what they had for dessert. It was amazing!! Never forgot how good that tasted. lol

Cobbler...........peach or blackberry......BOTH are heavenly!

I like blueberries too! I grew up where the claim to fame is blueberry capitol of the world. But I think there are others that claim that, so maybe it's just Canada. Either way, we ate a lot as kids.

Maybe it would have helped if you had read post #65 before posting this...?
That would be cherry-picking and not answering the first post by the originator's initial point would be confirming what was said by the thread would it not? :)
