Sorry, but I think that's a nonsensical argument. It sounds like you are advocating it's ok to hold governmental authorises to ransom with a threat of armed rebellion if they don't follow your pattern of what should be happening. That's anarchy or Mob rule, something more attributed to the wild west before law and order were established.

I didn't agree with every decision my governments have made about covid, or a lot of other decisions they make for that matter. But they are elected officials. Unless they require me to do something which is immoral or threatens my faithfulness towards Jesus, then God obliges me to adhere to their directives irrespective of whether I agree with them or not.

I think the difference in the USA is that the people(we the people) are who are in charge and over the government and so the president(POTUS) is an servant (public servant) and the people "we the people" are the rulers over the servants. So yes if any of those public servants begin to act as if they are kings or dictators over us(we the people) then yes defiantly if they cross the path where they are overthrowing the "we the people" and becoming dictators or kings it is treason.

lol, funny you mention it because my wife and I went to the Dollar General at the front of our sub division a few hours ago. While she was inside one of the DG employees came out on break and moved her truck up beside my car in the shade(hot in Texas). She called her husband and told him that Deborah went home as soon as she got there. Her husband ask her how she felt and she complained to him because Deborah got to go home but they made her stay. He told her she should go get tested at the hospital but she said it was a waist of 30.00 and they already knew they all had Covid because every employee had it even the Manger. Then she carried on about thinking they probably all caught it when they made them work in the store in Woodville TX. because they were short handed because they all had Covid. Then they argued about not paying their daughters truck note who was off work with Covid also ect.ect. ,,,,

It's a strange feeling nowadays sitting in my car and hearing people have conversations over their car speakers as if they don't realize everyone within a city block can hear every word their both saying. I sit there and think it's not right as if I'm ease dropping or something. I put my mask on and got out and was going to go tell my wife to be careful going through the checkout but she had just paid and was heading for the car anyway. Me and my wife are old so we still wear mask and wipe things down with bleach rags. We do this because it's a type of reverse mandate here where stores force their employees to work even though they know they have Covid. Absolutely no employee in the DG had on mask nor any of their customers and there had to be 20 people(adults and children) that went in and out while we were there.

Your right even here in Texas our officials do things by mandate but we call them executive orders instead. Same thing though the big guy sees himself as a dictator and mandates(executive order) things we all must obey...

i do care about people's lives. things here are a mess, supply shortages everywhere, business closed, poverty up, stock market tanking.

if we had done a hard lockdown, these things, which affect people's lives would have been a lot worse if we would have done a hard lockdown.

guns are not a big problem in america, it is hyped by the media.

We have a different electoral system to the US, but the catch cry of most Aussies I have chatted politics with has been they wished the polies would remember they've been selected to serve the people and not their parties, nor their egos, and certainly not so they can line their pockets with the electors hard earned. I'd be telling a lie if I said most Aussies hold the politians in high esteem. Nonetheless, the politicians have been selected through our present electoral system, and we are obliged to recognise and honour that fact.

Quite frankly, I think Aussies would be up in arms en masse if any politician or political group dare try to remove our democratic freedoms. I suspect they would have a verve for protecting their hard earned democracy that would match US residents, if not more so.

But that's a highly unlikely scenario in any of the contemporary Western democracies. What is a more likely scenario is a deranged person getting hold of self loading weapons and creating carnage. There's no foolproof way to stop that happening, but there is certainly methods we could apply to mitigate against it, if we didn't allow our fear and self interest to overrule common sense. If however the threat is real and you feel you need to arm yourself with self loading weapons to adequately protect yourself and family from armed evildoers in your society, and it's legally ok to do that, then do it. But if it was me, after arming myself I would be quickly working on an exit strategy from that environment for me and my loved ones, post-haste.
