Some people think become Christian mean free from all the problem

john 8

36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

people misunderstand this verse and think as soon as we accept the Lord we will free from all problem, nice car, nice house healthy never sick never die

every now and than I listen testimony from new converted

in West Java Indonesia there is an Muslim imam, his name is mohamad yasin

he hate Christian, organize to burn 3 church near by

one day he have a dream to see Jesus carry a lamb

look so peaceful

than he go to preach Quran to the next town

on the way he desperately to use rest room

no public rest room nearby so he stop to a house ask if he can use rest room

in this house there is a picture Jesus carry a lamb like he saw in his dream

he ask house owner who is in this picture

that is Jesus my Lord the house owner say

he remember he burn 3 of His church, yet He come to his dream with love

He start talk to some of his imam friend they say it is devil try to pull you from muslim

he keep ponder and finally decide to accept Jesus

what happen next

free from problem indeed?

he went to the church in town no body dare to accept him

every body in town know he was bad imam

the Muslim school where he work fire him
out from school housing no car, sleep on the train station for 3 month work in the restaurant to wash and clean

the promise free indeed is not now
it happen when you die in your new home

God promise Abraham to be great nation but need time to put him in the training program
He have to learn to obey

he need work hard to walk 2000 mile

why not make it easy, give them wing to fly, God can do anything

i believe God want to trained him how to obey

even if he have to kill his own son Isaac

if we say okay Jesus is saying if we follow his word we can know the truth and be made free from sins control over us , then when we later read Paul talking about bekng free from sins dominion over us by following the doctrine of Christ it begins to make sense

“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death,

or of obedience unto righteousness? But

God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”

Knowing the truth and being made free is part of the New Testament doctrine

It’s why we preach the gospel to set people free from a satans snare of sin and death

Jesus came to preach deliverance to the captives and freedom to the slaves his word is truth d the knowledge we learn as we continue in his word sets us free from satans deception and his power to bind us in sin and death

Being a Christian means one is "free" from damnaiton. However, being a Christian also means that this world will hate us, and they will persecute us. So, in this world, being a Christian does not mean we will live problem free. Nor should we expect to.
