I think Russia and China have already planned out this attack. Russia has made a very clear case that if the US uses Ukraine to attack Russia that Russia will attack the US. Putin knew before he invaded this would happen.
Likewise, if China invades Taiwan we can expect the US and Japan to attack China.
So I think that both China and Russia are prepared to respond with a big attack on the US. However, China will begin with an attack on Taiwan, US and Japan respond, followed by a coordinated attack from Russia, Iran, N. Korea and China.

Reasons why China might invade Taiwan this summer
You can listen to a lot of experts and they feel that China was preparing for a 2025 takeover of Taiwan. However people need to realize, in a war you are not always able to act when you would want to.
Let's consider a few factors that could impact this.
1. Russia's invasion of Ukraine. We have a military alliance between Russia and China. It is always better to have a two front war against your enemy. So if they need to attack now to get Russia to work with them then that is a big motivating factor.
2. Collapse of China's banking and real estate markets. They have already had to roll out tanks to guard the banks and they have spooked foreign investment. Already it looks like a $300 billion collapse. Following the worldwide collapse there is no country able to help China weather this storm. The impact of this bubble bursting could take ten years or even more to overcome. So waiting till 2025 is very likely not an option.
3. The Red wave in the US midterm election will result in the Trump movement doing real hearings into Covid. This could result in the US pinning the pandemic on China and crippling them with worldwide sanctions. Again, waiting a year may not be an option for China.
4. The Red wave in the US midterm election will result in the Trump movement doing real hearings into election fraud. If China is convicted they will be guilty of insurrection and the US could respond with war. Better to hit the US first with a surprise attack. So waiting till next year seems to be very risky.
5. 120 food processing plants being burned down sure looks like an act of war.

7. What better time to attack the US than when their puppet, Joe Biden, is president. Already various states are discussing decertification of the election. There is no guarantee that Biden will still be president in a year.
I think China would have loved to have taken over the US without firing a shot and had Hillary won the election I think they would have had a real possibility to do that. However, Trump's election threw a monkey wrench in that and the threat that he could return shortly must have them worried.
8. What is the point of doing these lockdowns over 3 or 4 people having Covid? Either Xi has gone off his rocker or he hasn't. If he hasn't one reasonable explanation is that they are practicing for the takeover of Taiwan.
