Tried everything......camomole, lavender, no screens hour, making bed for sleep, cbti therapy, vitamin d, exercise,
the only thing that helps is asking for prayer.....please pray for me its too much to bear.
It ruins my mood/outlook/makes me irritable/hopeless/depressed
Please help me with this ......its a terrible affliction.......
I tell myself god is punishing me.....because he gives his beloved sleep
Please pray for me its only thing that works.

Thanks

At some point people can’t relax because they can’t relax. That can reinforce itself indefinitely. Jesus said don’t worry like that’s easy, but it’s sound advice. Imagine how much more peace and rest we’d have if we were mentally and emotionally invested in everything.

Yes praying for you for sure. God bless.

Instead of beating yourself up and thinking about sleeping try something different. When you are laying there in bed start thinking that you are with Jesus. Talk to him and tell him about your day.

One time I imagined myself with him in a forest setting and I laid my head in his lap and felt so calm and comfortable.

I can tell you that God is not trying to punish you the truth of the matter is that satan is probably tormenting you instead telling you that you aren't good enough and he is the one keeping you awake. That is why I am suggesting that you meditate on Jesus and the things he did for people when he was on earth. Everything he did was to heal and educate people on God and his love for us.

You are forgiven, you are redeemed and you are saved by the blood of the lamb. God loves you and wants nothing but the best for you including and peaceful nights sleep. Think about Him and let there be peace in your heart. Close your eyes and know he is there with you protecting you from all harm.

Are you going through any issues right now, such as anxiety?

One thing that has helped me is, I tell myself "I need to rest" instead of "I need to sleep" if I can't sleep. When I tell myself I need to rest, rather than sleep, I believe that calms me more instead of forcing myself to sleep. If you cannot fall asleep, don't pressure yourself too much.
Limit your sleep to bedtime, without taking naps.
I take all vitamins (except multivitamin as it contains B vitamins (which causes energy)) about an hour before bed, and I believe that lulls me my sleep. Specifically I take Vitamin D and zinc at night, along with a couple of other pills. It was just something I learned through trial and error.
Reading before bed also makes me sleepy. I use the night light/dark screen on my kindle, so if I fall asleep the room is dark. I find that when I fall asleep with the lamp on, I wake up.
Also, try using white noise or another type of calming sound.

I don't believe God caused your insomnia, and the Bible says He gives his beloved sleep.

Sleeplessness is terrible. I had 6 months of maybe an hour a night. I ended up crashing a car because of it.

The Lord graciously showed me why. I won't go into detail, but it was fundamentally because I had no peace. And the reason I had no peace was because I was trying to make something happen that was not His will. It would have been a disaster if I had got my way.

You need to deal with the cause, not treat the symptoms. The moment I quit pushing my own agenda, I got a good night's sleep. It may be a different problem for you, but the answer is the same. What is robbing you of your peace? Are you mad at someone and you can't let go? (That someone may be yourself). Have you decided a course of action that God is unhappy with? I had two words from the Lord on this issue:
Colossians 3:15, Amplified
"Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always]."

Isaiah 50:10
"Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the voice of His Servant? Who among you walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD; let him lean on his God. Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who array yourselves with firebrands, walk in the light of your fire and of the firebrands you have lit! This is what you will receive from My hand: You will lie down in a place of torment.… "

Sounds harsh. Well no. If we only knew what our own ways led to, we would avoid it like the plague. So God graciously withholds His peace so that we can be brought back on track.

If you seek God diligently, He will show you the cause of your dilemma. He will even give you grace to overcome.

I find listening to Audio books , from Christian authors , so while I am listening , my mind is on Jesus , and not on the cares of this world...It really did break my sleepless nights , and now , before I know it , I am a sleep in no time...
If you are interested in these books , you will find them on YouTube , a channel called Aneko Press...
Some are a few hours long , some are up to ten hours long , but all are food for our soul...Hope this helps you...

Do you have a fluorescent light in your bedroom ceiling or similar?
Get rid of it., as these confuse your melatonin clock, which will ruin your sleep.

And of course, no Laptop screen 1 hr before bed, but you said you had tried that....

also....

You said you "tried" exercise.
Do this instead.
Join a Gym, go 4x a week.

You're sleep will change if you will do that consistently.

I need to hear from you. Ever write that? When I cannot seem to sleep, that tells me one thing, oops better check in!! LOL Meaning Jesus wants to hear from me in prayer for a while. One spends about 12 Hours doing what they want to do,unfortunaly prayer does not seem to be one of those things, SO!!!! It's MY TIME NOW BELIEVER!!! Oh dear! You know we serve a very jealous God( Exodus 20:5-6) In fact I will go so far to say that it is a sin not to pray daily!!(1 Sam12:23) This then I have found allows me to sleep like a baby!! LOL

I drink warm water and then listen to something and I usually fall asleep.

I agree exercise is great for putting someone into sleep mode.

Natrol brand strawberry flavored Melatonin melts work for me.
I let them melt under my tongue. If I know I can't sleep right away I take them about a hour before bed.

Valerian root is good too. But I hear it can cause depression if taken over long.

Going through an uncannily similar situation. I discovered literally 3 hours ago that serotonin is actually the precursor for melatonin production! I know I already have very low serotonin levels so I am going to commit to having St Johns Wort tea every single morning plus eat plenty of turkey (has tryptophan which is a precursor to serotonin.)
My new theory is if I can increase serotonin production, it will lead to better melatonin production!

St. John’s wort should not be taken/used over long periods of time, and also has been associated with very serious and potentially dangerous interactions with many common drugs and certain prescriptions, so do please be careful.

I used to have insomnia so know how you feel. I changed my eating habits and cut out alot of things. I also take vitamins to help. Mine was caused by anxiety. I also changed my work and got rid of unhealthy relationships.I am not sure if any of this is why you cannot sleep. But maybe would be a good thing to get a sleep study done for you.

I have insomnia. I can't relax or have any peace about the lost going to hell, including my own family. Crying myself to sleep isn't a thing for me - meaning it doesn't put me to sleep like most people - it just gives me a bad headache and dry eye pain. I tried Melatonin 2 times and both times gave me crazy nightmares, but I'll consider trying it again maybe.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6

I take a high potency B complex and it always knocks me out for a solid 6 hours of sleep every night. 😴 I sleep like a rock.

That and a LOT of physical activity.

After that first yawn I got 5 minutes to get to bed or I'm sleeping where I'm sitting.

Asian Friend,

A lot of things can cause insomnia.
Like you, I've experienced a lot of stress after the loss of my Dad. He trusted Christ as his Savior shortly before he left.

The compassion and love that you have for your family is honorable. Lots you can do and I'm up too late right now being hypocritical. I set my clock for 6:30, but have one set at 10:30 to remind me to go to bed. If I stay that routine it helps, otherwise I get my second wind if I don't wind down then. Maybe this helps.
A couple more things that help are herbs made for relaxation. Tea made from chamomile, valerian (also available capsules), cinnamon, and more.

I have other nutritional helps, but that's a start.

Have a good night.

I've recently started taking a dropper thing from a health food store called "Relaxing Sleep" that has valerian, chamomile, etc. in it. It seems to be helping. Now it takes about an hour instead of 5 hours to fall asleep! amen! My other physical factors aside from my busy mind are: feeling WAY too hot from Spring to Fall (I can sleep much easier when it's colder like below 70), husband snoring loudly, hunger pangs which increase the later it gets, and chronic back/neck pain.
So you see falling asleep is a challenge for me! And I'm really into natural health and intermittent fasting so sleeping pills are not an option for me. I don't even like taking Ibuprofen unless the pain is almost unbearable and I have to work or be present for something.

I'm not a fan of those either. I applaud you for doing what you can to assist your body naturally.
