Life can sometimes feel like a perpetual state of hell, but ironically within the coping mechanisms, we get trapped in a state of Life that can feel like a perpetual state of hell but ironically within the coping mechanisms we get trapped in a state of apathetic comfort. To justify our thoughts we say well the grass may not be any greener on the other side, or this is just life, or I deserve this state of hell.

We can find comfort in the hell. Even billions of people live their lives comfortably in their sins, sharing the same destination of Hell eternal. We lie to ourselves, saying this is manageable, this will improve, or this is a small sacrifice I must pay. But is it?

Fear of change or the unknown can greatly incapacitate us into a state of submission to forces at be. It defeats growth, defeats our courage, our willpower, and we in a state of survival, find comfort even amidst our hell.

This is why God often times forces us to grow by eliminating the comfort. One of my favorite stories in the Bible was that of the Israelites enslaved in Egypt. They had food, shelter, water, and protection. The Israelites despite their cries to God had grown comfortable within their bondage which we see evident in their complaints later after God delivered them.

Don't we often do the same?

Crying out within our hell but we fear the growth so we stay content within the comfort. I employ you today to think about what or where is God wanting to grow you in. Are you willing to sacrifice the temporary comfort for growth? If you are spiritually an unbeliever are you willing to sacrifice temporary comfort for life eternal?

Discipleship is so important to this growth and the survival of believers. Let us encourage, guide, and help others grow in the Lord and to move from hell into life. Life abundant on Earth through the power of God and life eternal through the redemption of Christ.

Believe it or not, my physio therapist pretty much had the same message for me today :) Another great message for us to take in. I wish more people could read your threads, they are wonderfully insightful.

Thank you, it is joyful knowing that what God provides finds those who need to hear the message.

I think we can still grow while having material comfort (a stable job, food, shelter, our needs met), such as trying to be more Christ-like, learning to be more forgiving, rebuking sin more, etc. But I do believe that sometimes God calls us to leave our material comfort (such as leaving our job, moving to a new town, etc.), but I am not sure if He asks this of everyone to give up their material comfort. Sometimes events happen (just as job loss, death in the family, etc.) and we are forced to grow in life and faith.

You are correct. It is more of a warning as comfort can be made an idol and inhibit your spiritual growth.

Obviously, it is a heart check.

This is very interesting to consider MsMediator. I live in North America and I often struggle with a desire to be comfortable.

MsMediator I think sometimes for me is where to think of what is necessary and what is luxuries. I find myself as a single who likes to eat out a lot. I also try to do it healthier which generally means it is more expensive. I struggle with should I cut back.
