It seems more convoluted. As a teen it was quite simple. But years of "how to" teachings turned it into a chore.
And most teachings revolve around "why this person is wrong for you" and less around how to make things work, so people start off disadvantaged from those teachings.
Then you get a greater variety of them as you get older and have to sort through them all.
At some point you have to get rid of most of it and simplify things again.
The only real advantage I see of being older is learning to communicate better to work things out, rather than just giving up quickly.

A question for the older members...how is love found at an older age (40 or 45 plus) different from young love (teens, 20s, and 30s)?
This reminds me of an episode of Long Lost Family about an 81 yo lady met her brother and sisters for the first time. She showed their pictures to her fiancee and he gave her the biggest hug and kiss. Later when she met her brother, she told him she's getting married and asked if he would give her away, lol. He was thrilled to do so.
It seems maybe they sense they need to make the best of the time they will have together.

I read that Olivia Newton John got married at 59 yo. I think one of the differences is that when you are a teen you think your first love will last forever, the world is over when you break up. When youre older your experience tells you that if you break up it does not define you, you will live to love another day...

Apparently they didnt get on after the first two children were born. He would go off touring and playing with his toy trains, and she found him boring.

Also as his wife, she was expected to give up her entire life to fit in with his. (which she never really had cos he was 24 years older. ) Also marrying someone who expects you to be at their constant beck and call and not appreciate them for who they are is like a prison. Or gilded cage, take your pick.

I remember not long after they got married, both of them going through customs. She was stunning, everyone was looking at her. I dont think anyone really noticed Rod other than oh that guy uses a lot of hairspray.
