The Lord’s Supper (bread and wine) is done in remembrance of the real thing: the blood of the covenant spilled for us and His body of which we become part.
Then why didn't the New Testament Church celebrate communion as we know it? You are very good at avoiding the questioon.

One verse and Holy Spirit confirmation is more than enough.
Theologians would disagree, but then most of them are lost.

Why would you assume I'm avoiding anything?

How do YOU understand "Holy Communion"?

Here's how the scriptures define it: "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ."

I perceive you are trying to make a point that you think is important.

Just quoting a verse proves nothing as you NEVER base a doctrine on one verse.
Had to reply to that twice .....huh?
Probably because it is a simple response to you. When you said that Jesus never said the very thing that he did say in that verse.

The doctrine itself is not based on that verse alone, but a few others where Jesus said, this is my body take and eat, and this is the new covenant in my blood take and drink. And then where Paul quotes Jesus.

Along with some other passages in the OT as well. Things I'm disinclined to explain to some one with such high academic accolades. After all I'm just a lay person who relies on reading other academics, and regular normal reading comprehension .

Sorry but this is a figment of your imagination. The Jews were FORBIDDEN to eat human flesh and drink human blood. That being the case, Jesus would not tell them to eat his flesh or drink his blood.
Jesus Christ is not a mere human being; He is God Himself in the Flesh, as we know. He tells us to eat His Flesh and drink His Blood so that we can have His Life in us. The Jews were told not to drink the blood of animals or other human beings because they were not to have the life of those beings in them; but God does want Christ's Life in us, so we drink His Blood.

This happens in Holy Communion. Please read 1 Corinthians 10 and 11 where this is very clearly explained.

1 Cor 10:

16The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? 17Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.

18Look at Israel according to the flesh; are not those who eat the sacrifices participants in the altar?

The Early Church Fathers unanimously believed Holy Communion - or the Holy Eucharist, the word for "thanksgiving" in the Greek - was the True Body and Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, not a bare and empty symbol, but the Real Presence of Christ.

For e.g. : http://therealpresence.org/eucharst/father/fathers.htm

St. Ignatius of Antioch (c. 110 A.D.)
I have no taste for corruptible food nor for the pleasures of this life. I desire the Bread of God, WHICH IS THE FLESH OF JESUS CHRIST, who was of the seed of David; and for drink I DESIRE HIS BLOOD, which is love incorruptible. (Letter to the Romans 7:3)

Take care, then, to use one Eucharist, so that whatever you do, you do according to God: FOR THERE IS ONE FLESH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, and one cup IN THE UNION OF HIS BLOOD; one ALTAR, as there is one bishop with the presbytery… (Letter to the Philadelphians 4:1)

They [i.e. the Gnostics] abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they do not confess that THE EUCHARIST IS THE FLESH OF OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, flesh which suffered for our sins and which the Father, in his goodness, raised up again. (Letter to Smyrnians 7:1)

The Jewish law was very clear. Jews were not allowed to drink human blood or eat human flesh. You can put whatever spin you want to on it but the fact is Jews are NOT allowed to eat human flesh or drink human blood.

Just in case you are having difficulty understanding Jewish Law, Jews are NOT allowed to eat human flesh or drink human blood.

No, he didn't. All you are doing is repeating what you have been told to say. Your understanding of the topic is nil. And I am disinclined to waste my time on explaining the facts to you as you have made it very clear you don't want to know.

Simple because you as yet have not answered my question. And the verse you have quoted has nothing at all to do with holy communion as we know it so I guess that is a good way of avoiding the truth and the blind leading the blind.

My senior lecturer was a Jew who converted to Christianity. I guess he must be lost because he became a messianic Jew. I am amazed you know so much about his salvation. Perhaps you can tell me his name?

My senior Elder back home was originally a Brethren Elder who started a church that had hundreds of branches all over the country. I guess he must be lost because God used him and blessed him to start up the Restoration Church in the UK. Obviously, God didn't know what he was doing.

One of my mentors was a man who was a Professor of Linguistics at Oxford University specializing in Hebrew and Greek. Before he died at the age of 86, he translated scripture into Chinese and formed a mission that smuggled the Bible into China even though it was banned. He also wrote numerous teaching books in Chinese and had them smuggled into China in their millions. I don't understand why God would choose him if he was lost.

Matthew 26:26-28
New International Version
26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” 27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Mark 14:22 While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is my body.” 23 Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24 He said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many.
Luke 22:14-23
New American Bible (Revised Edition)
14 When the hour came, he took his place at table with the apostles. 15 He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer, 16 for, I tell you, I shall not eat it [again] until there is fulfillment in the kingdom of God.” 17 Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and said, “Take this and share it among yourselves; 18 for I tell you [that] from this time on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.” 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you.
1 Corinthians 11:23-25
New American Bible (Revised Edition)
23 For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, 24 and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

From these passages we learn:
Jesus instituted this Supper for believers to eat and drink often.
Jesus gives those who commune His body and blood in, with and under the bread and wine.
Jesus gives the very price of redemption, his body and blood, so the recipient receives the victories He won-- forgiveness of sins and heaven.
Jesus invites to to do this often to remember what He did for us. This helps us to value His sacrifice and benefits. It encourages us to know Christ is with us in our Christian life.
Remember that the Lord's Supper was only for REMEMBRANCE of what HE did for us.

You CANNOT receive or ingest His actual flesh and blood.

Anyone who has been Born-Again by the Spirit and belongs to Christ can practice/partake in this Memorial breaking of Bread and Wine = there is no earthbound priesthood that exists for this to be officiated.

Any who make the claim that they have power/authority to 'transubstantiate/change' the bread and wine into Christ's flesh and blood is antichrist and a liar.

When I was at university I spent a year studying Jesus in the Gospels. Our textbook was written by John Stanton who was an Anglican Priest as well as a Ph.D. I wonder why God would choose an author like that if he was lost.
