So...everyone's heard of Love At First Sight...or Lust At First Sight, etc.

For instance, say, oh I don't know...say that you happened to be a sound tech who was running sound for a big education/teacher conference...You're bored to tears and half-asleep, and then it happens...the Spark. In walks a woman to present her conference speech, and it's instant chemistry...(hypothetically speaking, of course...) I'm talking heart-beating, mind-racing, shaky-hands, whoah-did-the-sun-just-get-brighter kind of Spark. (Just for instance and as an example...not that it really happened you know. Not at 2:42 this afternoon or anything...)
Now, since you know that you know nothing about her, and that she lives waay far away from you, and you'll never see her again, and many, many other things that preclude anything more than a glance, how would you get the woman out of your mind? If this wasn't a hypothetical situation, I might have trouble with this...

I just want to know what y'all do to get rid of memories...does anything work?

You don't. You enjoy the memory that for a brief moment in time, you felt alive and tingly. Hypothetically of course.

I agree. Just pretend it happened and enjoy it. :) Who knows, it could really happen and she could hypothetically feel the same way and show back up out of curiosity. :)

Or you can do like I do and tell yourself that she probably has a rich, handsome boyfriend or husband and would never be interested in a guy like me.

But why depress yourself? Why not look at life as beautiful instead of dreary? Because it really is.

You could have chased her down and said, "Hi, I'm Aaron. I'm really sorry about the sound system. They said they'd have it fixed and I did all I could to make it sound ok. I just wanted to apologize in case it caused you any problems. You gave a great presentation out there." Then she would be like, "Oh, I didn't even know there was a problem. You must have done a great job! My name is ______, I was just about to get some lunch, would you like to join me?"

Then after some conversation she asks what the problem was with the sound system and then you confess that there was no problem, that you just wanted to meet her. :)

I'd actually laugh if someting like that happened to me. I'd laugh cus it was a silly and creative way to get my attention.

Reason it all out in your mind.


You dont know each other, she lives somewhere else. You have never actually met her. The only thing you know about this woman is that she is attractive. So the only memory you really have is getting a physical reaction from seeing her read a speech. She may have a boyfriend, she may be about to get married.
She might be a lesbian for all you know.

Stay in the present. Not the what if's or woulda shoulda coulda's

I don't believe in coincidences. I never have. Maybe you will never see her again. Take her out of the equation. What if God wanted you, NukePooch, to realize you aren't dead inside? What if He wanted to "wake up" as it were? How did you feel afterwards? Did you stand a little taller? Feel a little happier? For a moment in time feel like the world was a little less glib and a little more sparkly? If so, may, just maybe God wanted you to see what He sees in you and not what you see in you.

I was kinda thinking that too, allforfun. Some people say they aren't looking for/interested in a relationship with anyone. What if it was God's way of saying, "Are you sure?" :)

Gabe I think AFF is right. You do say you don't care to date. But maybe God was using her to wake you up and say "You truely do desire one and you will have one, someday."

Hmm... Let's see, Nuke. I'm trying to remember if I've ever felt this shaky, wobbly heart-racing, KA-BAM! type feeling...

Why yes, I think so... as I mentioned in another thread... I think I felt that way the last time I ordered a good pizza and it came into sight on the table... (Is that why food is so tempting? Because it [usually] never rejects you...)

I actually waited on a guy once who was like a combination of Larry the Cable Guy and Leo DiCaprio. Yes, I know that sounds insane, but he had these amazing blue eyes, a boyish face, cutoff jeans and a t-shirt with the sleeves ripped off, and one of those slower Southern accents where the words are really drawn out. I didn't exactly feel hit by lightning and I never found out who he was, nor did I see him again... but I thought he was adorable. And it made me smile for the rest of the day.
