Matthew 12:1-13

At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat.
2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.
3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;

4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:

10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

My faith from Reading your posts I appreciate your time spent sharing

have you noticed the contradiction with this in the law regarding gathering bread ( made of grain which the disciples gathered to eat on the sabbath ) on the sabbath day ?

“See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭16:29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

they had to not gather food on the sabbath Jesus rebukes this in the open when they criticized his disciples for gathering on sabbath day

They had this understandkng

“Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD:

whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭31:15‬ ‭

They were using this understanding for this reason

“And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. ( they were trying to follow the sabbath commandment given to Moses according to the letter at Sinai and Horeb)

But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:16-18‬ ‭

The reason they were always trying to kill him is because he was teaching contrary to the law differently from the written law

They had instructions

“And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭15:32, 35-36‬ ‭

Either I’m going to offer a thought just the scripture and thy n a revelation from Paul regarding the old law I’m hoping it will sink in foyer much transgression I’m the sweet and much death due to rebellion this occurred God tells Moses this is

“Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭23:20-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

so Paul’s later writing this

“Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:19‬ ‭

And then one more point from Stephen who Paul was involved in his death For saying just what Paul is there

“And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. ( exodus 32) Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices By the space of forty years in the wilderness?

Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, And the star of your god Remphan, Figures which ye made to worship them: And I will carry you away beyond Babylon. ……Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭7:41-43, 52-53‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The angel was unforgiving who was given ordination of the law after they worshipped the calf God set the angel over the law and set his name upon the angel who he warned would not pardon any transgression

there’s a ton of scripture regarding the point but remember Jesus doesn’t change ? And he does forgive sin what does this say To us about the law ?

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s why when Jesus was before them they couldn’t accept him because they had the law thy y were looking at Jesus not obeying thier law but preaching a different doctrine all together

“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ( all the world is guilty )

being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:21-26, 28‬ ‭

“Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung,

that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law,

but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:8-9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

But the scripture ( the law and prophets ) hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, ( if there’s no Jew recognized in Christ then the law of Moses isnt presiding over the covenant ) there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:11-12, 18-19, 22-23, 25, 27-29‬ ‭

The law brought the world to the gospel
