"To imprison his high officials at will, That he might teach his elders wisdom. " Psalm 105:22.

Joseph had to have seen and heard many things about the high officials. Imagine him being put second in command and looking around the room at the high officials. "Hey you, over there. Remember me, you mocked me one day about Potiphar's wife. we're going to talk later. And you high official, I remember you talking about how you padded your accounts. Let's go over your accounts again. You guards, go grab Potiphar's wife. I have a cell for her.

No. I wasn't contradicting the Psalm 105 verse.

But how powerful it would be knowing that someone has the power and authority but not acting on it.
Conviction comes from God...its a powerful thing.
Just saying..🤔🤔

Some translations say 'instruct'. Some say 'bind.' If it is talking about imprisoning high officials, that was probably within the power of the grand visier type position he was in. It doesn't necessarily mean he was getting them back for behavior during previous imprisonments. I suppose it is possible that Pharaoh liked to imprison official frequently as he did with the butler and the baker... but those may have been less powerful positions around Pharaoh. Joseph was the warden. is there any reason to think other officials would have been imprisoned that that they would have been disrespectful to Joseph?

But my impression is that Joseph was perceptive, incredibly diligent, and very faithful. So if an official committed a crime, and he found out, then Joseph would likely have been diligent about his duties in this regard.

Well we know his position did have the power to enact justice so Im sure evil had a run for their money trying to operate under Joseph.

He did have the power and he did act on it. To stop evil you have to act on it.

yes his brothers assumed he would but instead they endured a weeping and loving embrace and he saved them from famine and set them up to thrive in thier land of goshen

He understood he was put in place to save his family. It does not mean he was there forgive corrupt officials. It appears Joseph ruled with an iron fist. You did not cross him.

Well johnB scripture here shows no intent of revenge as this saint posted. I suppose you can imply your thoughts to this and beleive its true but the evidence is not found.
Comforting and speaking kindly to them was just a ploy?

it’s interesting what started it all for Joseph when he was given the dream of the twelve stars the sun and the moon with the eleven stars making obedience to him

through the events of Joseph’s life , God had brought his dream for which they turned against him , to pass. It worked out for Joseph’s great blessing of course he isnt going to take any revenge it was God fulfilling his vision and he had come to understand it when they all came trembling to him after he was set above them in Egypt israel is described as the ( sun moon and twelve stars Jacob his wife and 12 sons )

“And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

And he told it to his father, and to his brethren:

and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

And his brethren envied him;

but his father observed the saying.”

his brethren sold him away because of the envy , his father longed for him and eventually it came to pass he was ruling over them even though they tried to derail Gods plan , he brought it to pass despite thier efforts

You're reading about his dealing with his family. He would not extend that kindness to anyone who wronged him in prison or was stealing from Pharaoh. Look at how he dealt with the people of Egypt during the famine. He took their money, property and finally made them slaves of Pharaoh. He wasn't playing nice with them.

figurative of absolute authority Psalm 105:22;

In plain english, he had authority over authorities and a teacher of teachers

The verse is clear, he put some of the high officials in prison.

That Joseph enslaved and tormented them ? You have the wrong idea about Joseph brother he was a man of God chosen by the vision to save israel during the great famine at the end of genesis he never did harm to his brethren never took revenge

when Jacob mentioned it to him he wept , he had already received them with kindness though they had feared him that he would be like your thinking they thought the same thing but he was a man of God

the bad things started happening after all that Egypt was a blessing to the people at the first but Joseph and that pharaoh died the kind pharaoh who lived Joseph and others rose up and then all of those things happened to isreal in Egypt Joseph isn’t the one bringing any harm and destruction to anyone the opposite actually a savior to them through the evil they did to him he returned the blessing
