Otherwise pick him up a boomerang.
TheNarrowPath,

I was trying to think of something culturally unique to your country and the thing I thought NZ probably shared with Aus was the boomerang. He'd get a good workout chasing that thing around and wouldn't even wouldn't need gym membership. Lol.
I know a little bit about that. Not much, but enough to get some cardio benefits while wondering how anyone could hunt with one.
I'll guess that Demi777 is probably closer to the cultural common beverage than my pick.

There were missionaries from New Zealand who visited our church. They set up a table to display cultural items. A couple were like museum pieces of art. They were carved weapons like these below. I don't remember exactly what they looked like other than very ornately carved hardwoods. That's what stood out to me other than the pictures that showed some beautiful places and people.

Can you imagine being clubbed to death by a weapon so beautifully carved with all that intricate detail. Nowadays they are on display at museums etc I could spend hours wandering around exhibitions browsing all the artefacts.

No I can't.
I can imagine removing those weapons from those who might attack me, then using them to defend against the murderers.
I don't know if I told you this, but I specialized in weapons for a long time. The Lord gave me my own system.

Since I was a little boy visiting the Carnegie Museum with family, my favorite areas were the knights, the natives and dinosaurs. They all had sharp pointy things for protection and hunting. Lol! I like the other areas too.

Have you ever been to a museum and seen the relics of your land?

I'm sorry about that Narrow Path. I didn't stop and think that ladies sometimes look at things like weapons differently than men. As artistic as some are, they are brutal weapons of war. Please forgive me for being insensitive.

Im sure you have an imagination. I like the process to carve those weapons and yes I know weapons kill but those you show are no longer used in war thats why I can imagine them being used on the "enemy" in war. I love museums! The Auckand War Memorial Museum is a must see if you ever visit here.

I checked out their web site.
Very nice museum! ☕🙂👍

When I think of a modern scenario like that, this movie scene comes to mind. The armored truck of armed bad guys were sent by a company to neutralize Lucy Liu's character. The Patus, Maori Tribal weapons would be too heavy for most women to swing. However, they are deadly with blades.
Blades are very commonly used, even in modern warfare. Before they had a chance to get her, this was what she does with metal batons.

If they didnt have fight scenes in movies Id be hard pressed trying to keep from falling asleep.

Most are pretty boring. They depend too much on the special effects and action than the script.
BTW, the theme of the movie was based on tech that many claim is used in the recent shots. Just a side note.

What do you rate that fight scene out of 5 for excellent. I thought maybe a 1 even though Lucy is pretty bad a## when it comes to fights.

She was doing sloppy form and technique. As a teacher, if I were her choreographer, she would have trained for that much more.
Her accuracy at speed was surprisingly good.
The way she pulled the expandable batons out of her high boots was incorrect on the draw, but will let that slide for coolness factor. The audience wouldn't know unless they had a good FMA teacher, but this was no low budget Hong Kong movie.
I could go on, but curious about your low score?

That scene prompted me to pray earnestly for a fellow teacher. I had two former teachers I worked out with in a particular art that included weapons like those Lucy's character used. One had since given up martial arts. The other moved out of the state.
There were no others that were at my level who I could really train with to reestablish where I wanted to be as a teacher. I was motivated to train others from that, but needed someone to work with. That scene touched my heart . I immediately prayed and asked God to bring one of those men back into my life so I could reach that goal and train others to defend themselves.

The next day I went back to my school and guess who walked through the door?
The old friend who moved out of state!

I gave it a 1 because the men were armed and wearing vests yet she still took them down. They could have taken her down when her back was turned instead it just looked like the fight scene was lazily choreographed, maybe they relied on all eyes watching Lucy? I like fight scenes where even the hero has an achilles heel. And the slow motion makes her look fabulous so she got a one for looking the part lol

OK 👍

If that seems over the top, you would have loved the rest of the scene. Lol

is there a part where you walk over and show them how its really done lol
If she were my student, she would have done proper sinawalis. That's the pattern strikes she was trying to do. She was using plastic replicas for that stunt, otherwise the stunt men would have broken bones. Seriously..

All I can think of during this discussion is the first Mortal Kombat movie, the scene that introduces Johnny Cage.

"This is the part where you fall down."
