Having sexual urges is normal, but what you do with it as an unmarried Christian man or woman is my focus.

When it comes to dealing with sexual urges as an unmarried Christian, the statement 'I just can't help it' should never be found in your vocabulary.

As you seek God's grace in other areas of your life, you must as well seek God's grace to be able to control your sexual urges. Paul Said that 'he keeps his body under, and brings it into subjection, lest after he has preached to other people, he becomes a castaway himself' 1st Corinthians 9:27.

Someone even now might be saying 'control my sexual urges? That's a piece of cake... Instead of going out to have sexual relations with the opposite sex, I just find a way to 'calm it down' and then he/she gives the way out as 'Masturbation.'

Masturbation has never been a way out and would never be a way out. It's a sin against God... Your opinion on the 'so called positive aspects of it' is nothing compared to the damage it brings about in the life of an individual.

One way to control your sexual urges as a Christian is to know your triggers and avoid them.
You know what brings about these urges unduly right? Avoid them!!!

And one other thing you must guide against as an unmarried Christian, is anything that contains even an ounce of pornographic content.
Guide your heart, guide your eyes... You pick up some so called Christian novels and read parts of it that depicits images that should never be found in a Christian novel, some so called Christian movies as well, and sometimes you might be among some 'so-called Christians' that see absolutely nothing wrong with it, and when you state your concerns, they dismiss you as 'taking things too seriously' and tell you that you're not a kid anymore.

Dear you, when it comes to issues like this, get to the point of accepting being called a fool if need be, just so that your relationship with God remains intact. No one is 'too mature/spiritually mature to fall into sin... Sin respects no one, no title; when you see it, and in whatever form it chooses to present itself, flee!!!

Finally the need to have the Word of God hidden in your heart, cannot be overemphasized; It is non-negotiable. When you hide God's word in your heart, it gives you victory over sin...
Psalm.119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Consistently read, study, and meditate on God's Word. The Word of God in our hearts when hearkened to, gives us the grace to say NO to any sinful suggestions the devil might be bringing up when these urges are so strong.

If you truly love and fear God as you say, the fear of and love for God in your heart would help you say no to being controlled by your sexual urges. You choose to be controlled by God and His word instead.
You'll never allow your sexual urges control you or your actions, you would instead take the issue to God in fervent and persistent prayers, till you have control over those sexual urges. There is no situation 'prayers' cannot turn around... None at all...

Dear unmarried Christian, in Christ, you have the grace to consistently say NO to anything that would breach your relationship with God. Accept nothing less!

Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

God Bless And Keep You In Him... Amen.

I flinch every time I see this topic come up, because I know it will spark a lot of argument. Again.

Nothing against you personally Abigail. But every time this topic is mentioned, people start fussing at people. Just so you know what to expect.

Correct, but easier said than done. Fornicating is certainly easier to avoid than masturbating (the sin of which is more the mental than the physical aspect), especially when the body is the trigger -- not porn, or anything other external factor.

Praying every day for sanctification and improvement in this area. But unlike you, I can make no claim to perfect behavior.

Porn is very damaging. There is a big link between porn consumption and how badly men treat women in real life.

Thanks. I needed to hear that.
