No I think she stood up and was doing something, thus she got told to sit down.
You can speculate what she was physically doing, nevertheless, the objectionable action the cop took that provoked him to issue an unlawful directive was her speaking to him AFTER he gave her permission to talk with him about it.

Do we agree on this at least?

I answered this question in post #51. Someone who breaks the law unknowingly is still guilty of that. The police officer didn't break the law. I'm basically saying your comparison of their ignorance isn't the same. It depends what we're talking about exactly.
No the cop didn't do anything illegal because flipping out like a crazy person isn't a crime unless you assault someone. Had he arrested her, he would have opened the police department up to an unlawful arrest lawsuit and I would like to think he would have been fired for arresting someone for no reason

Here in Dallas a policeman Murdered a woman who was looking at him in her house by shooting her through a closed window. And then there's the Botham Jean thing who was murdered in his own apartment by a policewoman who didn't know where she was.

Your cop only yelled at a woman. She got off lucky.
That is terrible to hear. Do you have links to those stories? I would like to familiarize myself with those cases please.

Yeah that's another way of putting it. I'm pretty stubborn like that, though. I don't get influenced very easily because I know 99% of all information we're fed is part of a bigger picture designed to influence us. I keep a healthy skepticism about many things.
I actually agree with this post. I think a healthy dose of skepticism is a good thing when it comes to things fed to us. Nevertheless, audio and video don't lie like the media. So when there is video or audio involved, I see no reason to be skeptical of the footage other than if it was edited or fabricated with deep fake software.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Disciplinary action was taken against a Bridgeport-based state trooper after a profanity-filled audio recording of him interacting with a Harrison County business owner surfaced, officials said.


The recording came after Jennifer Bruce, owner of a convenience store in Lost Creek, met with Trooper Trupo in August to discuss a citation against her business for selling tobacco products to a minor.

Bruce recorded the conversation, in which Trupo was heard using profanity several times, and shared it with 5 News.

Below is an excerpt from the audio recording:

Bruce: “By chance can we talk first?”

Trupo: “Yeah.”


(unless I want to yell at you and use abusive and profane language.)

The allegations against Trooper Trupo were sustained, West Virginia State Police Major J. T. Findley told 5 News.

Most of the video is speculation. They didn't let us actually hear the phone call, but the narrator said "she alleges that he would issue a warrant for her arrest." Then she showed up to the police station and voice recorded the whole thing and asked why he threatened to get a warrant for her arrest. That's just hearsay.

So there's no evidence a threat was even made, it wasn't until after she was standing up and doing something he escalated to shouting and cussing. What I see is the more likely scenario is that she provoked him by doing something such as rushing him.

This video doesn't really have all of the facts, but it's leading the listener to more or less think this cop is unfit. Given today's anti-cop climate, this is most likely just anti-cop information designed to sway public opinion.

Well, the buck stops here. It didn't work on me.

Audio and video don't lie, but how the audio and video is represented can create a false narrative. I'm juts saying this video has way too many holes in it for me to take it seriously.

Having said that, we DO have audio recording where the woman asks to speak to the officer, and the officer agreeing. True or false?

After the officer agrees to a conversation, the woman begins to speak and he interrupts her and threatens to put her in handcuffs if she doesn't shut up. True or false?

While the cop gives her a directive to sit down, he never threatens to put her in cuffs for not sitting down. The only time he threatens to put her in cuffs is if she doesn't shut her mouth. True or false?

Freedom of speech means we are free from consequences and retaliation from the state when we are engaged in protected free speech. True or false?

A person has their 1st amendment right to freedom of speech (provided it's protected free speech) in addition to their 5th amendment right to remain silent, when being arrested (Miranda rights) or while detained for probable cause. True or false.

If you're talking about potential holes, didn't you speculate the woman could have been doing something physically because she didn't sit down when told to do so?

Nevertheless, while I agree with your statement in general, there is more than enough information to determine this cop was absolutely in the wrong. Internal reviews typically have a way of coming back with them saying, "We investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing" .... yet, they realized they couldn't sweep this under the rug as the audio went viral. They had to suspend the officer even though most people would argue for complete termination.

Yeah she could have been rushing him. That's plausible.

The video doesn't say everything the cop said. Remember, this video is about making him look bad, not justifying his actions.
With her voice all calm and passive. Sure.lol. absurd.

I already stated my dad was a detective. One of the good ones and he was commended more than once for his actions on the job

I want to add one more true or false:

We have the audio recording from BEFORE the cop arrives to the time he threatens to put her in cuffs after he agreed to speak to her. True or False?

This is important to note because if the audio was spliced up with missing sections, then I would agree the audio was manipulated to present a particular narrative. However, this woman appears to have covertly recorded the audio from before he even arrives to the police department to the point he threatens her and violates her 1st amendment rights. Where is the manipulation in the audio?

that's called verbal intimidation and it can only escalate from there

people use intimidation in order to dominate others. we have all probably experienced that type of behavior and we respond differently to it; we are not all the same. Some capitulate and others fight back. In the case of family members being treated as the cop treated the woman, it can create fear or great resentment. Apparently in this case, the woman expressed fear and anger

It's never a good thing though and people respond better to reason in most cases
