Here is his website

https://www.ascendministries.net/bob-hazlett

What he did at our church was speak to people out of the crowd or of those who he broadly spoken to like saying if you are feeling overwhelmingly darkness please come up to the stage. Then he also spoke to them individually but the audience could hear everything. He also spoke about what he saw in store for the church and church leaders. He spoke about his books and that was about it.

As for his critics, there doesn't seem to be a while lot of info on the web. As for his history or being legitimate, idk so far all I have is what my pastor said about him and what his website says.

Not a great track record for me.

Some say a modern prophet is infallible while other say they can be fallible but the scriptures say to test the prophet.

2 Peter 1:21 ESV
For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

God can never be wrong.
That’s interesting. Sometimes people will say things that are just vague enough that they’re applicable to many people, not easily falsified, and they maintain plausible deniability if accused of being wrong. When things start getting specific is when the message is able to be scrutinized more clearly and, if they are being disingenuous, then their probability of being exposed increases.

I think Bob might have a gift, but he probably improvises a bit as he goes along. What I see in the Bible, prophets often needed to spend time alone, quiet in prayer, in order process a prophetic message. Jesus often withdrew a quiet place to pray, Moses often went up to the mountain alone, Elijah spent some time in the wilderness and on a mountain, and there are others. I think we should all try to find a quiet time to pray.

God is easier to find in the stillness, solitude, and silence of prayer. Around people and trying to hear form God at the same time, it’s like trying to listen to several persons talk at once while simultaneously tracking each conversation. Quite difficult. Well, that’s why they often prayed in solitude I believe.

What I’m trying to get at is prophets often received their “Thus saith the Lord…” before hand then went and delivered the message to people, but Bob seems to improvise on the fly while being just vague enough to not be nailed down. That’s either exceptional or fake.

Question, did he start off the speaking event very specific and then, as time progressed, he became increasingly vague?

Prophecy is listed within the Spiritual gifts, so what does the look like in a Biblical New Testament setting?

We recently had a Bob Hazlett come and speak to our church.

https://www.ascendministries.net/bob-hazlett

I know that demonic spirits can mimic some of the miracles of God like they did with Moses or Paul and the sorcerer. We are even told some will do great signs and wonders to possibly lead away the elect.

To test the prophet, their words must not contradict the Bible. They must have a proven track record. And ultimately, you will begin to see by their fruit.

According to my pastor, Hazlett had perfectly predicted certain specifics about them building a new church, and he hadn't mentioned that to this guy.

This guy also seemed to know that my aunt had been having family issues and predicted restoration. Her husband had an emotional affair months prior.

But much of his talk was vague and never once exposed sin, or predicted anything negative, it was all motivational, and even two people were going to get new cars. New land for the church, a new gym, a sound room to create music, and a school was proclaimed.

My greater instinct is this is a joke even though I don't know how he knew about my aunt in, less it is demonic mimicking the gift to steer people away. But yet everything He said isn't bad either it just seems to leave out the correction and reproof part.

I don't know. I started going to a charismatic church a year ago to study their interpretation and use of the gifts.

Oh a red flag to me is Hazlett has an Ascend Academy where if you pay $99 to $250 a month, you can learn how operate in the prophetic gift.

Also he has appeared on Bethal tv and done events related to Bethal and close friends to a prophet community.

I can't help but feel this to be false, so I ask how should a modern prophet operate? Should one have a whole ministry built on it?
Prophets do not prophesy health, wealth and prosperity. They only foretell wars, famines, and pestilence (like viruses infecting the whole world)

Prophets also forthtell...meaning giving accurate assessments of current situations.

Prophets also preach. They give calls to return to righteousness.

And something as generic as a family having some friction...OK I never have heard of a family that doesn't have some friction going on inside of it. Most have disfunction rampant somewhere in the immediate family. The only time there isn't family friction is if there is no family whatsoever...just saying.

He would go back and forth between vague and specific.

His words didn't contradict the Bible or provide new revelation. They were merely in motivation of gifts, church progress, healing, restoration, etc.

According to the pastor, he has a track record of being accurate.

That is what I thought of a prophet but the way charismatics interpret the gift is through the lens of the New Testament verses and not the Old.

I do not judge any, however about Joyce Mayer, she gave me some very good advice on overcoming a haabit. It was all glory to God, and I thank God for her guidance. Now, this does not mean I disbelieve what people say they know about her, but I prefer to think the best and most beautiful of her due to her free gift to all who would hear her, from the Lord I do believe, amen.
Well with anything we take the good and leave the bad.

John and Paul both give prophesy that isn't good news of health, wealth, and prosperity...in fact just the opposite.

The last prophet was John Baptist and Jesus. Romans chapter 12 to document that the body of christ consists of different offices and duties. One might be pastor or teacher or evangelists. They might volunteer in soup kitchen or donate to charity's. Jeremiah chapter 23. These fake preachers are self appointed. They lie to people and even fleecing them. God has His eyes on the fake shepherds. Ezekiel chapter 13 to document the false preachers are not written in Israel book of memorial. Their hellfire bound. The fake shepherds are spirtual murderers, and have blood on their hands. Jesus tells us in gospel of. A good tree bears only good fruit and bad tree bears only bad fruit. Theirs your equation.

Romans 12:6
6We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If one’s gift is prophecy, let him use it in proportion to his faith;

I respect
Romans 12:6
6We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If one’s gift is prophecy, let him use it in proportion to his faith;
I respect what you said, your documentation is noted. My intake is some people, like pastor's, reverend or other shepherds dont have holy spirit, they have spirit of stupor. Isaiah 29:10. For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets, and your rulers, the seers have hath he covered. First Corinthians chapter 13 will document their is a diversity of gifts. My point is. The fake shepherds don't have the holy spirit, they have spirit of stupor. I just wanted to get my point across. Not everyone has the holy spirit. Romans 11:7. What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeks for; but the election that obtained it, and the rest were blinded. Many people have spirit of stupor, they see, but cant understand. Peace.

Jesus Yeshua is God. I do not believe God may be classified ever as a prophet for He declares all, and d has no need to have a gift as do men, though He did come in the flesh. Again, He declares, states but has no need to fortell because He has already declared all that is, was and ever will be.

He was prophet, priest, and king.
Amen :)

When Jesus had entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
The crowds replied, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee." Matthew 21:10-11

A sense of awe swept over all of them, and they glorified God. “A great prophet
has appeared among us!” they said. “God has visited His people!” Luke 7:16

“Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet." John 4:19

Then Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown, among his relatives,
and in his own household is a prophet without honor.”
Mark 6:4

Jesus also foretold the future, performed multiple healings
and miracles, and compared Himself to Elijah and Elisha.

That was way better than what I wrote. You should get at least 2 amen. Amen and Amen.

They play off of people's hopes to get healed and hear something new.
This is called manipulation. Mental, emotional, and spiritual manipulation. To say nothing of financial manipulation.

And that is only because the majority of churches have failed to ground their members solidly in Bible doctrine and Bible truth. No Christian who knows the Lord and knows the Word should be susceptible to any kind of manipulation. Ultimately it is from Satan the Great Liar and Deceiver. If all Christians would simply ignore all these "celebrity" people on radio and TV and refuse to send them a dime, they would all fade away. The Bible tells us to "turn away" from all such deceivers.

Well I believe in the spiritual gift but not in the sense that many remote it as. I believe anyone can operate in the gift as it simply means to proclaim a message forward of God. We do that when we speak God's Word. We are prophetic when we repeat the prophecies to come.

Now some are more gifted in bringing the Word forward like a pastor or evangelist.
