You're a primary contributer. Accusing people of lying. Belittling Oyster.

..just saying.
Yes. I was banned for saying, "Stop lying." Imagine that . . . being banned from a church for telling someone to "stop lying."

Pretty amazing.

There are many brothers and sisters in Christ who agree with him, as well. I don't find him to be close-minded. That seems to be a convenient catch-phrase to use for someone that simply disagrees with your understanding.
Thank you! And isn't it something that a person can say that I am closed-minded and its of no consequence at all, but if I simply say, "Stop lying," I am short-term banned?

And people say that I am closed-minded. Laughable, absolutely laughable. But, may the hypocrites have a wonderful and amazing day!

:D

I don’t myself fully understand tongues but I believe what the Bible has to say about it and think we should all do that so we can reach the same conclusions regarding doctrines
First, I read all that you wrote, and thank you. I appreciate your level-headed approach to this drama. Again, thank you.

I am with you, should anyone have taken the time to ask. I am a mere human being. . . what do I know (compared to our God?) I am a mere human who is doing his best to understand things in a right manner. That said, God can do absolutely whatever He desires. If God wants me to speak in Tongues, it's going to happen, and I won't argue one bit. All that I am saying is that we should use our brains and ask ourselves, "Who has the Power and Authority from God to replace legs from the men and women of the world who have lost them? Who has the ability to give eyesight to a person born blind? Who is doing this today? There isn't anyone capable of these kinds of miraculous healings, but our God is completely capable of restoring a missing leg, eyes, teeth, hair, or anything else wrong with a human body.

All that I am saying is that we need to think in more simple and rational terms . . . yet I am banned. Classic. Absolutely classic.

1 Cor 14:5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

Could He be more clear?

Because we're talking about speaking in tongues. But if you want to talk about prophecy:

1 Cor 14:39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

How many Christians do that?

NOBODY "possesses ANY "Gift". They're all possessed by the Holy SPirit, and HE distributes them when and where HE wills. (1 Cor 12:11)
Really? All caps to prove this point?

When food is distributed, those who received the food . . . do they not possess it?

And there NEVER WAS ONE.
Perplexing. My many translations all say the same things, which is that the Disciples were given Power to heal. Even the evil Spirits obeyed them and Jesus didn't argue the point.

Luke 10:19-20 NLT - "Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. 20 But don't rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven."

It is solid proof that it happened on those three occasions.
You still have shown no scripture that says that EVERY one that receives the Spirit MUST show it by speaking in tongues.
That is what you folks are saying, and I am asking for scripture that SAYS that.

I have provided scriptures that say that, to receive the Spirit, you don't need a laying on of hands, you simply repent, and get baptized into the name of Jesus, and you WILL receive the Spirit.

I also provided scriptures that show that ALL gifts are not given to ALL believers. The Spirit determines what each believer needs, to fulfill his role in the Body of Christ.... the church.

You have provided scriptures (and I have, as well) that show that on SOME occasions, the laying on of hands was done, along with baptism, and it allowed the passing on of the Spirit. And there are SOME occasions where the evidence of the indwelling Spirit was shown with the sign of speaking in tongues. There was also one occasion mentioned of people receiving the Spirit before baptism.... does that make it the "norm" ? Of course not.

The only conclusion an honest person could come to is that not EVERYONE is supposed to speak in tongues. In fact, scripture tells us that it is not even the most desirable gift to wish for. We should pray for the gift of prophecy.

Hanging your whole spiritual existence on speaking in tongues is a waste of time, and actually borders on idolatry. Telling others that because YOU speak in tongues, they must also, is false doctrine.
How about teaching the story of Jesus, and his love for us, and how we should love and care for others, and let the gifts that the Spirit decides YOU need just happen. Turning a spiritual gift into some kind of secret handshake/password/rite of passage is missing the boat, and shows spiritual immaturity, IMO.
And now, brothers and sisters, I think I will be done with contributing to this discussion. God's blessings on you all...
Your question did not say every time. But the Holy Spirit who Inspired these written Verses made sure what we do read is greater proof than your intent.

Careful! I was banned for simply saying "stop lying." To say that someone is confused is pretty risky at this ultra-sensitive site.
I don't remember that post. Was that the entirety of it or was there more. If it's part of a larger context, it may be clarifying, not impunity.

i would say, since you did like my Sequence, that your Gifts are more than enough to suffice you. but for those who do Speak in Tongues, they need the Holy Spirit to intercede on their behalf. i did go through and show [[how]] the Holy Spirit searches the Believer and God, then initiates the Utterance, Tongues or Groaning takes place, only God understands, and what the Believer needed is provided.

Personally, i like it in Spiritual Warfare.
the enemy has no clue because only God understands and i have witnessed great victories due to it.
I appreciate what you wrote . . . thank you.

No. And Paul was also clear when he wrote, just a couple verses earlier . . .

"Let love be your highest goal!"

"Love" is in the pit, isn't it? Do you Love me, your enemy? Are you feeding me, your enemy?

Nope. Instead of "food," I got banned. How's that for utterly backward?

You people think that I am struggling, so you ban me?

That is absolutely perfect, and I love how the True character of this site has shown through. Thank you!

Perplexing. My many translations all say the same things, which is that the Disciples were given Power to heal.
And David was GIVEN POWER to kill a lion with his bare hands, and kill a giant with a sling shot, and Samson was GIVEN POWER tobring an entire building down with his bare hands, and Elijah was GIVEN POWER to stop rain, and call fire down from Heaven, and Moses was GIVEN POWER to split the Red Sea. Oh, and Balaam's donkey was GIVEN POWER to speak Hebrew, and the fish was GIVEN POWER to get a coin, and give it to the disciples to pay taxes with. And there was the Axe Head that was GIVEN POWER to swim.

Nothing new there. The person/animal MEANS NOTHING. God's POWER given to whom/what HE PLEASES means everything.

Nope. My entire post was "stop lying."

I'm a bad, bad man! It's a good thing I didn't call anyone a Brood of Vipers, etc.
