Im sure we all received at least one in our lifetime...
What do you do with them? Regift? Sell? Biff it? Or let it gather dust in a box way back in the closet...

Just say thank you so you don't hurt the person's feelings and then stash it somewhere. That's what I usually do

I appreciate those I don't want as it's the giver's desire to be a blessing that is the biggest gift. I held onto some that should have gone to a good home though.

They are a blessing for sure and no doubt we all appreciate that someone was thinking of us. The gifts I still kept that I didnt want, was in hopes that my kid might want it one day. Other things I gave them away for free or donated to charity. I once was looking at someones crystal rock collection and out of politeness remarked how pretty they were. Next week she gave me one as a gift. I really had no interest in crystals and thought I might use it as a paper weight but then she kept giving me more!! One night the husband and I put them in a box to leave outside the closest goodwill store. He didnt want them either. Cut to a week later and he came home and told me the gift giver found out because she browsed at that shop. Oops!😊😎😔

I put crystals in a glass bowl or dish. You can put them in pot plants or in the garden. I dont collect them but use them as decoration.

I guess depending on what gift is, I try and find a use for it. I have been given plenty of clothes I never wear and clear them out of the closet from time to time to the op shop.

I give and donate gifts.

I received a lot of gifts as a child, but not too many as an adult, so I'm usually the giver and not the receiver. I personally believe that a gift is a reflection of how well one person knows another person, so I pay close attention to others and try to give a gift that I believe they will appreciate. Not just because it is a gift, but because it shows that I actually know them. I'm not sure how I've been doing with that, but at least I'm trying. On top of that, I think that I may have watched too many movies about personal shoppers.

An unwanted gift to me comes from a person who does not bear my best interests and wellbeing at heart.

There are simple hearted people who would gift simple things and things that won't be so costly but with good intentions. Those are good gifts.

There are people who might get you gifts. They may be expensive gifts, but they don't really want good for you in your life. In such a case, be wary of the people and the gift itself.

At the most, if I don't want a gift given to me, if it is of value, I give it to someone who might have use for it.

Speaking of gifts, there is the parable of the talents.

Matthew chapter 25 verses 14 to 30.

It's a good reference for what to do with gifts given to us.

What are some of the unwanted gifts that you people did not want or need? Mine are usually perfume which I get migraines from, or chocolate, bags or Christmas ornaments.

clothes, usually they dont fit, or uncomfy. I dont think ppl should buy ready made clothes for others they dont know well.
Different if you were making/sewing something or tailoring to order where the person can try it on for size.

Question:

I decided to order a merino/ alpaca wool blanket for Mom. She's spending a lot of time in bed and I want her to be comfortable. I also want to make her a bamboo rayon sheets/ bedspread set. I've found nothing softer or more comfortable than that. I just talked to my brother, who just told me that he already bought her a comforter set.
Sometimes she sleeps on the couch and sometimes on the bed. Maybe she can have a set at both places to make it easier.
I already bought her a few smaller luxury items for further variety. I just wanted to get her something special. She is hard to shop for because she has everything she needs and throws out what she doesn't. Do you all think I should get her something else instead of go ahead and order it?

A blanket travels easily from bed to couch or vice versa, and alpaca
wool is supposed to be the best. It sounds like an awesome gift :)

Beautiful!
I have an Alpaca hat that is my favorite for winter. Last year in storage a wool moth or something got into it, so I am going to darn it when I have time. It's the most comfortable, warmest hat I've ever worn.
I was just disappointed when I was just told that he got a comforter.... probably polyester.
I'm not trying to one up him. I just planned to get her one for a while and it's better she have it now than later.

You are right. The fiber is light and insulates well. I like how it breaths unlike synthetics.

The place I wanted to buy a first shearing from raised the price $50 when I went back to the page, so I need to find another good source that won't price gouge.
I guess I should go ahead and get her one

Go ahead and order it. Really thoughtful of you and your brother to do that and it will be special and she will be soooo comfortable!

Thanks Narrow Path.
I'm searching for the right one with good reviews now. The couple that I had my eye on getting are sold out now, so I will hopefully get it ordered tomorrow and make a matching bamboo rayon sheet pillowcase set. I bought unhulled buckwheat for a buckwheat pillow. Mine has been perfect as long as I had it. Hope she likes them.

I wanted to get pillows for my family but there are so many to choose from! I havent used a pillow in years so not sure to go with natural filling or silk covers..the choices are endless.
