I dont watch too much the "reality" shows because when i have watched them they dont show the real life, it seems as if they are actors
 
I watch Intervention and cry almost every show, whether they go to rehab or not. But especially if they do.

I have a few guilty pleasures that I hold no pretense are "real" shows. I think reality shows started off with a good thought that evolved into what we have today.
 
I watch Solitary just because the human mind under bizarre conditions fascinates me. Basically 9 people are locked in their own isolation pods, cut off from the outside world, and the only companion they have is the computer named Val running the whole thing. They know there are other people competing but they never meet them during the entirety for the show, and are only give the most basic of information, like their age and occupation, but not their gender, personal bio, and usually not even their hobbies. And basically the last person still in solitary who hasn't finally given up wins. The part that always amuses me is by the end of the show they usually have very strong ideas of what the other people are like even though they've never met them and know barely anything about them. It's probably the only reality show I'll even bother to watch since the others have gotten so stupid over the last few years.
 
I think the popular ones like The Bachelor, Jersey Shore, The Real Housewives series and Toddlers and Tiaras, Big Brother, and the ones with cameras in celebrity's homes are the epitome of secular society.

The positive-themed ones like Extreme Home Makeover and...hmm I can't think of any others, are ok I guess.

I couldn't watch that one...EVER. :(

I come across them from time to time when I'm surfing, so I have an idea of what they are about, but from what I have seen of those on this list...ugh...
 
There is obviously some scripting done to these shows, but there is a real aspect to them too. I'll indulge myself once in a while.

Haha me too. I tried to watch the Tiaras thing once but couldn't handle the whiny, snotty parents. Same goes for Real Housewives of OC, although it was more the immaturity level of the women. I watched the Real Housewives for several minutes longer though because I was seeing them in places that are local. I used to live in OC lol.
 
I guess the thing that bothers me the most is that there are probably a lot of people out there, particularly young people without role models, who won't realize, as Stilly said, that alot of this stuff is scripted for ratings/drama, and will think it's the norm....

Zero, the stuff they put those little girls thru........grrrrrrrrrrrr. Kids should be allowed to be KIDS. :( Stuff like that just produces more "mean girls".
 
I like quite a few "reality" shows. Lets face it though, the producers and editors can cut the footage to tell whatever story they want sometimes, plus scripting as mentioned above.
I like a lot of the shows on Discovery, History, TLC, etc. and a couple on major networks. I think the History Channel has the most that I watch. I love that channel.

Yes, I agree. I don't like the whole kiddie pageant concept at all. Its wrong on so many levels.

I used to watch The Hills, and sometimes I watch The Kardashians when there's nothing on tv. I do know not everything is real and probably a lot is just pretending but it's interesting how even richs and famous struggle with the same stuff as us, the commoners. Just with more style...and better cars.

Seasons 1-4 are on Hulu. I've only seen through the first one so far. It was pretty good! Season 2 isn't looking as good. Season 1 really focused on the game being about them against themselves, but Season 2 is making it be more about them against the others which kinda ruins the point but it's still interesting none the less.
 
I watch Extreme Home Makeover if it's on and Im on that channel otherwise i dont really care. Except for wrestling...thats real? right? No?
